This is based on a few recurrent visits; not just this one.
The staff are fantastic, attentive and enthusiastic… polite and helpful without being overbearing. Absolutely 10/10
The menu is small and obviously well considered.
There is no music and when...the chatter of the staff stopped there was a lot of silence which hurt the atmosphere.
The food is expensive, and for amazing quality and quantity that is fine, but the venison was tough and the sea bass was absolutely swimming in cream which I could barely eat half of. £8 for two scoops of
Ice cream is just not justifiable. Some of the vegetables on my plate were seriously undercooked and my partner had a salad straight out of a supermarket bag.
The food comes out far too quickly; we were in and out within 40 minutes and that doesn’t suggest care and time has gone into preparing a main course.
I don’t want to hear the chef shouting at the staff that food is ready or barking other instructions; it’s not appropriate for customers to hear that and it felt overbearing and aggressive in the often silent restaurant.
The Galley is an absolute icon of Woodbridge and I want to see it succeed; but the above issues seem to come up every time I visit and am disappointed that things don’t change.More
We were looking for somewhere in Woodbridge to have lunch as we had not booked and happened across this place - what a lucky find. The food was both excellent and unusual and the service warm and friendly.
Just what we needed on a foggy...January Saturday. We will definitely be back!More
So pleased Uğur is back again after what must have been a terrible time for all restaurants. He is a great chef/patron and also has shown great versatility during the pandemic. One of the first to offer home delivery and his "through the window" service...was so well done. He has even opened a new ice cream parlour opposite serving a variety of home made ice creams and also other delicacies from the restaurant.
We ate in the restaurant on Saturday and it was just as good as ever with too many pluses to name them all. Someone has commented about small portions but every dish served was more than adequate and we left feeling very replete.
Mind you we did call in over the road to stock up with a few treats for later!
If you know and expect quality dishes look no further.
PS we hope the Turkish breakfast makes a come back too.More
A recent Friday night saw 6 strapping and starving lads in for dinner. The food was of a very high standard but the portion size left a lot to be desired and for that reason I would not recommend. Very good service and atmosphere however,...as there is much better value locally in this price range.More
It is a delight to have The Galley back open serving my favourites and more. The sardine fillets or figs are incredible as starters and I already struggle to look past the lamb stew finish off with some vanilla ice cream with a dash of...Pedro Ximenez and that right there is heaven!More
Having enjoyed the most scrumptious light meals during the summer from 'The Window' it was a delight have the re-opening of the indoor restaurant. Have enjoyed both a lunch and dinner here over the last week and the reception by such a well trained and...presented young staff was on both occasions superb. The dinner, on a fully booked evening was very comfortable throughout, the selection of dishes excellent particularly the sardines, the halibut and the duck breast. Excellent quality wine.
Will remain one of my favorite eating places!More
Wonderful Turkish inspired food nestled in the heart of Woodbridge. My mum and I stopped here for lunch on a day trip to Woodbridge and we were pleasantly surprised. Very tasty, original and nutritious. We had the meze plate (definitely enough for us both) and...tarts to finish. Friendly service. Well recommended.More
