Tried the red deer on the hopeof a nice supper, and we weren't disappointed. Delicious food, generous servings, convivial atmosphere, tasty beer too, an oasis in the snow

My twin brother Stephen and I chanced upon this great pub as we were wandering around this part of town and what a great find. This is a proper side street pub, the interior is fab ,multi roomed, an island style serving bar dominates the...main room, pubby decor and furnishings, beer mats and beer clips adorning the walls and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub. We were here on a Tuesday late afternoon, a very pleasant member of the bar team greeted us with a smile, after a quick study of their real ale's we both opted to have Bradfield Brewery pale ale, these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was really good, an amber ale, aromatic, hoppy but not overhopped, a classic British pale ale that most certainly cut through the thirst, just as well as it was a really hot afternoon. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Red Deer Pub we were totally impressed. The Red Deer Pub is easy to locate along Pitt Street. Opening hours are; Monday ,Midday till 11pm. Tuesday to Thursday ,Midday till Midnight. Friday & Saturday, Midday till 1am. Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.More

The Red Deer on Pitt street is a fantastic pub with bags of character that serves an excellent range of cask ales and a superb food menu. This is a proper traditional pub and is a pub that I would class as a back street...boozer.Housed in an excellent building with a huge mural painted on a side of this building. The inside has a very traditional pub interior with many interesting fixtures and many good seating options throughout this multi-roomed pub. This is a superb pub and one we really enjoyed as there cask ales were fantastic and really well priced. When we visited we had a few glasses of cask ale from the Bradfield brewery which where fantastic as were the staff who served us our beers. The Red Deer is well worth a visit and really easy to get to from Mappin Street/Portobello Lane bus stop walk along Mappin street and take a left on Pitt street.(This is my first review of the Red Deer). Opening Hours. Monday-Friday-17.00-00.00. Saturday-Sunday-12.00-00.00. Nearest Bus Stop. Mappin Street/Portobello Lane bus stop. Nearest Tram Stop. West Street tram stop.More

I have been to the red deer on various occasions since lockdown ended and I have to say it's the safest feeling place I've been to. There are dividers between tables, table service, limited numbers, so much hand sanitizer, staff wearing masks, one way system,...limited to 1 person in the toilet at a time. I feel as though they have really taken it seriously and it shows. The food and drink is still just as good as before lockdown, the service is friendly and in a timely manner, you rarely wait for drinks orders and this was on a full Saturday night which is the real test, and I fully recommend it. I also absolutely recommend booking in advance as it gets booked up.More

This place is an absolute gem. Tucked away in a back street, it’s worth seeking out. I’ve been twice, once for a drink early Saturday evening when it had a lovely busy (but not overly so) buzz and friendly welcome + well kept local beers....Second time was for Sunday lunch three weeks ago as the final meal of a weekend reunion. Sunday roast was tip top served by warm friendly staff and again excellent beer too! Recommended.More

Food was lovely and the variety is excellent! The food was served prompt and hot. We all had something to eat and there is an extensive selection for Vegans

I've eaten here a handful of times. Great, tasty veggie options, but the Sunday Roast has gone downhill in the two times I've had it. The nut roast is great, but the veg was average and the Yorkshire pudding was probably the worst I've ever...seen. I'm not sure how it was cooked to get the result but it tasted almost like an omelette, without a Yorkshire pudding shape and no crispiness to it. It's a shame because previously I didn't had a bad word to say about the place.More

Despite being Sheffield born and bred only found out about this little hidden gem by accident a couple of weeks ago. Great selection of well kept beers. Extensive menu of more eclectic food than you would normally get, so decided to stay and eat rather...than head off into town as planned and was pleased with the freshly prepared home cooked food.More

The v cottage pie is very tastey and the vegatables perfectly cooked and fresh tasting too. £9 i think, can't remember. The pie has lentils in mushrooms and red wine sauce with creamy mash atop. 9/10. Will be back soon for sure.
