We ( two couples ) have just returned from a lovely night's stay at this fantastic hotel. The hotel is well placed and just a short walk away from the centre of town and the Minster. The rooms are clean and comfortable and well equipped....Our bed ( Room 3) was really comfortable we had the best night's sleep away from home. The breakfast was first class with the whole range of items to choose from and very tasty indeed. We did not eat in the hotel but the menu looked very nice. There was a good range of drinks, especially whiskies, in the bar at very reasonable prices. Probably the best thing about this hotel was the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay here next time we visit this lovely city. Thanks to everyone at the Rose and Crown.More

Doesn’t look much of a place from the outside but don’t be fooled the pies here are delicious and homemade and their R&C chips are huge and so tasty. We had a side of greens which were Thai tasting and so nice Chicken wings to...start were very good with a touch of spice. All in all very good pub food worth a visitMore

We stayed at this pub/hotel for 2 nights and were made to feel very welcome. Very clean & tidy. Breakfast was excellent. Great location for exploring York City centre. Had dinner on the 2nd night and would definitely recommend their speciality pies. Will hopefully be...back.More

We stayed here recently on a trip to visit York. The staff were all very friendly and we was allowed to park the car early in the car park and then come back at check in. The room was clean and well presented with everything...we needed catered for. Did not have en evening meal in the pub but breakfast both mornings was excellent. Good value for money and would have no hesitation returning.More

I was discriminated against on the basis of disability. The staff were very rude. What they did is illegal. I'll never go back.

We settled here for the England vs Ukraine game and loved every second of it. The staff were really hospitable and the service was efficient and friendly. Social distancing measures were extremely well followed and we felt very safe. The food was outstanding and all...in all, it was a great pub and atmosphere. We will return!More
