We visited this place for brunch during our weekend in Norwich and found it to be a lovely, cosy cafe with a great choice of food. We arrived too late to order from the breakfast options but were more than happy with the rest of...More

I popped in for a coffee - it was strong and black and perfect. I am a bit of a coffee snob only having one cup a day, but it has to be perfect and this was high in that category. However only buy the...More

Hi Camilla B I don't know if it's a bakery thing but with the early mornings strong coffee kind of goes with the territory of a bakery. Other places are focusing on lightly roasted acidic blends, and the chains are sticking to their milk-with-a-hint-of-coffee formula...More

Having spent an hour wandering Norwich in search of cake & coffee but avoiding the evil chains, we basically stumbled across Timberhill Bakery. Had excellent coffee and apple&ginger cake. All freshly made and delicious! Savoury stuff looks fantastic too. Highly recommended - put you back...More

Hi Dreek - glad you found us! We're just up the hill 1 minute from Pret and 2 minutes from Costa!! So you burn some calories walking a bit further to us - that means you deserve cake....it's a win-win! Cheers! Mike

Firstly, I need to say I had the best toasted sandwich I've ever eaten. The sourdough bread used, freshly baked on site, adds a fantastic flavour twist to a classic lunch. This is a great place for a variety of dietary requirements, catering for vegan, dairy...More

Hi VernaE A huge huge thank you for such a glowing review and it's energising to know local people appreciate what we are trying to achieve by being a bit different and working our socks off. The scones were developed because so many people asked...More

Hi Marian M, There must have been a big change in the way dairy products were made 10-15 years ago as we have been really surprised by the number of customers who aren't vegan or even vegetarian but who are now eating a dairy-free diet...More

Hi Voyager822240 When we first opened we had clear-cut bread customers, lunch customers, coffee customers and ethical/ vegan customers. They usually came in for one of the various things we offer and that was great. What we've found in the last 6 months is that...More

Hi Little H - the Vegan breakfast toastie is often outselling the meat-based breakfast toasties....and not all of them are bought by vegans. Hopefully we're breaking down the barriers to great vegan food just by making things taste as good as their meat alternatives. Anyway,...More

We went here after my daughter recommended it for lunch. Both of us had the open sandwiches and were impressed with the quality of the food and service. We'll definitely be going again.

Description
We're a small independently run and owned Sourdough Bakery Cafe making sourdough bread from organic ingredients, from scratch every day. Everything we sell is made here on site by our small team of dedicated bakers in the city centre of Norwich, between John Lewis and Marks and Spencer. We are not a traditional cafe offering cooked breakfasts and the like but we are trying to do things a little differently. We have a little menu which is (unsurprisingly) bread-based with the best sourdough toasties in the UK, and an innovative range of savoury muffins and cakes which are now all dairy free or vegan. Our coffee is also a little different to the norm - punchy flavour and made using organic beans and organic milk. We're mid-sized (the cafe seats 35 plus another 18 outside) and open Tuesday to Saturdays 8am to 3pm (4pm Saturdays). We are closed on Sundays and Mondays preparing the sourdough, soup, toasties, cakes, etc etc for the rest of the week. Hope to see you soon, cheers, Mike.
