Food was really fantastic, fresh and delicious. However, the overall experience was let down by the service. Had to ask for a cocktail menu (waiter didn't ask us what we wanted to drink!?). Drinks did not arrive until after all starters and ceviches were finished. Water not refilled. Never asked if we would like any additional drinks. Waiter didn't explain the menu to us, so left feeling hungry afterwards as we ordered 2 starters, 2 ceviches and shared main. Could have used some recommendations for how many dishes to order as everything was quite small. Request for birthday celebration at dessert was ignored in the reservation. Was really let down by all of it, except the food which could not be faulted. Topped off by the audacity to request additional tip after 15% service charge was already included.

Restaurant specializing in Peruvian food, located near Buckingham Palace. It is very elegant and with exceptional attention. It has a menu, a tasting menu at a price of 95 pounds, and a lunch menu consisting of two or three courses, at prices of 38 and 45 pounds respectively, with the possibility of choosing between several options. I came to eat and decided on the two-course lunch menu option, choosing classic sea bass ceviche as a starter and grilled sea bream for the main course. Courtesy of the house they gave me pâté and quinoa bread. With two beers (Alhambra Reserva 1925 and Cusqueña), ecotaxes, donations and service charge, the bill came to 67.55 pounds (about 79 euros). It is expensive; the beers, 9 pounds for the Cusqueña and 10 pounds for the Alhambra, but I 100% enjoyed the food; the ceviche, the best I've ever had, and the sea bream, incredible. To top it off, the waiter, Sandro, made me enjoy the food even more.

This bar/restaurant caters for the very well -off! We paid £150/head for our three course meal plus drinks. Having said that the experience was outstanding. Knowledgeable and friendly service (although rather too quick - for the price we paid we felt hurried, and had not control of the pace of deliver of the food, which was annoying). The food was superb. Beef skewers and spicy beef were the highlights, but the ceviches were pretty good, and the desserts imaginative and very tasty. Buzzy pre-Christmas atmosphere (perhaps a little too noisy if you were in the wrong place). Wines are VERY pricey. Not much for under £70. Having said that that our Chateau Minuty was delicious.

Avoid. Average food. Horrible service and not so great atmosphere. First incidence happened at the bar as our table was not ready at the time we booked. We paid the bartender a ridiculously high amount for a mocktail and a tiny regular cocktail. The bar bill included a 15% s service charge and the bartender had marked an additional 10% service charge on the card. Then came the waiter in the restaurant. We had chosen when reserving the degustation menu and ticked no poultry for intolerances; we specified this to the waiter and he responded rudely that he is not sure the chef can do this although I tried to explain to him that it was the restaurant itself that allows for ticking this off the menu. He hurriedly left, brusquely picking up the menu and dropping my iPhone on the floor. He did not even apologise or pick it up, but tried to crack a bad joke. He left never asking us what we wanted to drink. The first dish we received was chicken! I complained to whom I was told was the manager (a more polite attendant) who changed our waiter and removed the drinks - a glass of wine and a non alcoholic gin tonic that we ended receiving half way through the meal - from our bill; this was less than the 15% service charge added for the bad service. Food was average. The fish in the ceviche was fresh, but the sauces in the 4 different variations were tasteless. Ambiance was not great either. Music was not good, there were a few large party tables that were literally shouting at times and felt more like a noisy overpriced fast food restaurant. My recommendation: Avoid unless you went to be ripped off by an over priced and mediocre meal in an unpleasant surrounding and served by bad waiters who seem on speed.

Normally, I enjoy my dinner at Coya Mayfair, but tonight, all the dishes bar the potatoes (side dish) were cold. Not warm - but cold! When I flagged this issue with the staff, the waitress took the dishes and said she will "flash" them. Upon her return, the plates were hot but the food was still cold. When I highlighted this issue, there was no sincere apology or offer to remake the food. Absolutely unacceptable. Ruined meal and evening!

This was one of the most favourite restaurants for me and my wife, in London and globally. A must go to place on every trip to London. No longer. Four things have changed - one - The Menu. So many of our favourite dishes like sea bass croquette and salmon tacos are gone. The new menu is not half as good in our opinion. Two - this time we experienced average to poor quality of food. e.g. Kale salad which used to be so good was a disappointment. The Kale was hard and difficult to eat. Three - They have a new system of ordering wherein the entire order has to be placed in one go! You can’t pace yourself. In my visit in June this year I specifically requested the server to pace the food - but ALL our dishes were served within 35 minutes. Four - Coya charges 15% service charge - more than most restaurants in London. Despite that the servers ask if you would like to pay additional gratuity - never experienced that here before or in any other restaurant in London. It’s a pity that what we considered an iconic London restaurant is now a disappointment.

We went to coya as two families where the total bill came up to £900 inc service (£300 drinks and £600 food) and we all left hungry noting 2 of the party were 9 years old. We were sat on a round table in front of the small glass windowed cooking area. On initial entry the restaurant lacks any presence or sense of occasion which is what we normally expect from higher priced venues. We didn't mind the more unassuming set up and thought this would be great for a date or business lunch. The menu looked good and the prices were slightly higher than other similar establishments however we thought perhaps the quantity/quality would be elevated or the presentation may be special. Unfortunately it was not. The ceviche platter for £80 consisted of 5 small bowls of cubed fillings of which 1 was cucumbers so 4 fish. Each person would need two or 3 bowls to be satisfied. The taste was ok but each one was very similar to the next apart from the actual fish. We also ordered a number of skewers but at £17 for 2 micro skewers an absolute waste of money, lacked taste and wasn't filling at all. We also got the crab tacos which were excellent but at £7 a taco felt very steep in pricing. Overall we were a little shocked at the overall price given no one was full or satisfied and wont be visiting again. If you can afford to go to Coya there are better places.

We went here as a couple. We had a 9:30PM sitting but were ‘held’ in the bar area, with some of London’s finest wannabe’s… For half an hour. I believe this is standard fare with Mayfair restaurants in order to get you to spend more on drinks before then being seated. - A Shame. Once we were seated, the service was not of a level that one would expect due to the price being commanded and the location. We ordered a selection of starter sized dishes and drinks from a waiter who was prompt , and seemed to have good understanding of the menu. Another waiter then appeared asking what we would like to order for drinks and starters! - very slapdash service considering it’s reputation and the fact they were all wearing radios for communication! We ordered mains from another waiter and the actual foodservice was prompt and food was nice but the table service was disjointed, confusing and over complicated and fussy. The food was small plates even for mains and quite fussy with more garnish than substance. The furnishing, loud music and dim lighting of the establishment made it hard to actually enjoy the experience. If you want to feel like you are brushing shoulders with London’s socialites until early morning while getting ripped off then this is the place for you! - I don’t know why I expected different but it was an experience!

Highly disappointed when we visited a few days ago. Despite specifying it was for a 30th birthday celebration on the reservation, upon arrival we were seated at a table in the bar area. Unimpressed, we had to ask twice whether it was possible to be seated in the main restaurant as confirmed on the booking. We were reluctantly given a table and on entering couldn’t understand why we weren’t given a table to begin with as they had empty tables throughout the evening. Service was not good at all, felt rushed during our meal and the staff weren’t friendly. Plates were cleared up whilst we were still eating. Extra items were added onto our bill when it was part of the starters as stated on the menu - waiter seemed like this was an inconvenience to remove when we explained this. Would not return to Coya & would not recommend to others. Extreme let down considering this is a restaurant located in Mayfair.

I had a reservation for Coya Mayfair this evening for my friends birthday. Sadly she just tested positive for Covid so I wanted to do the right thing and cancel the reservation (which of course is very disappointing especially as it is her birthday). I phoned the restaurant and was told that my credit card would be charged 50 pounds per person. When I asked if they rather we go together with my friend's covid I was told that since they do not have a covid policy that would be OK and would be preferable to cancelling!! I am absolutely horrified that they would rather put money before the health of their wait staff and other patrons. I would also like to mention that the restaurant is completely sold out this evening so the table will definitely not be empty. I understand that a restaurant would have to charge a fee if a large party cancels at the last minute but this was a table for 2 and we are still in a pandemic and trying not to get people sick. Do not go to Coya if you are worried about their health and safety policy!

Absolutely overrated, overpriced and so not worth the money you pay. Waiters hover around replenishing the wine after just one sip; I know these places want a quick bottle-emptying but this was rather unpleasant . One waiter was particularly clumsy and almost break a glass on me. The food was not bad, but over salty, not special and definitely not worth the hype and price. The constant attention from waiters was really distracting from our conversation, having constantly to stop and answer them. It was a birthday and I made a special note in my booking, but the occasion was completely ignored. Safe to say, I won’t be back. Really bad.

It's a really nice all-round experience to treat yourself to! The reception at the bar was so pleasant with cocktails and live music that they chose to stay there for dinner. The dishes are exceptional, the Peruvian cuisine amazes in flavors, a real crescendo that gives a journey of the palate. Rejia, the Italian-born bartender (super professional and helpful) accompanied us in choosing foods, suggesting appetizers and main courses worthy of note. Superb, everything.

Our second visit to COYA Mayfair. We’d also dined at COYA in Dubai last November. As expected, it was busy and a good atmosphere. The DJ music was cool, although a bit too loud. Our waiter was excellent and very helpful. We ordered a wide selection of dishes, they arrived very very quickly. It felt like we were being rushed. Our food was delicious, absolutely stunning. No fault whatsoever. My glass of Malbec was very average but the Syrah much better. We were celebrating a family birthday and the sharing dessert was fabulous. Overall, very good but a long way short of the ambience and service we’d had in Dubai. Also, I didn’t particularly like the waiter pressure to pay an additional tip on top of the 15% already added. Really ?

Food was sooo good! It’s really unnecessary that waiters are so unorganized and slow that they cannot bring drinks to accompany the food. We had two glasses of wine each (that’s all we had time for as no one managed to come by and ask if we wanted more) to go with 6 different dishes. We saw people next to us sitting with just a glass of water waiting “forever” before they were waited on. Waiters seemed very disorganized and unprofessional. Monday night should call for a more quiet and manageable setting for good service at such a pricey establishment. Cool ambience and great food though. Go if you aren’t starving and ready to sit and wait..and wait. Ps. Make sure you don’t eat too much. Bathrooms are so tiny and doors go inward so you might not be able to get in/out :-)

Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
