Was a little apprehensive when ordering chicken and waffles but our server ‘Sez’ recommended it and was the best and most unexpected dish I have ever had. Would definitely recommend if visiting this place. Amazing food. Amazing milkshakes - especially the Chocolate (homemade ice cream...and cream made in house!) the service was outstanding. Our server looked after me and my guests amazingly - despite their being building works going on. He made us feel as if it wasn’t there. The decor is awesome. Especially the Mozart walls! Definitely coming back again! It is something to write home about!More

Decided to visit this place as I kept hearing about Stax and the fact they had a restaurant in shoreditch (which had the name of my favourite cartoon). It wasnt that easy to locate but is withing reasonable distance of old street station. the restaurant...itself has an oldschool, sothern states vibe. The food is supposed to be halal (minus things containing alcohol) so I thought I would pay a visit. I decided to order cajun sweet potato fries, a korean fried chicken burger and a peanut butter milkshake. Before ordering, I was a bit apprehensive about the korean fried chicken burger as traditionally gochujang and kimchi contain alcohol (both are fermented for long periods of time) and when I enquired the staff about it it was halal, they didnt really know until I asked if it contained any alcohol and they said no. When the food arrived, it was very nice portion sizes. The chips were quite easily the best chips I have ever eaten (excellent seasoning and texture) and the milkshake was nice. The biggest letdown of the dish however was the burger. As I suspected, the gochujang and Kimchi tasted alcoholic so I immediately disgarded them. DUe to them also loading the burger with a lot of cold ingredients, the chicken became cold quickly. Despite this however ,the chicken itself was great (better than Mother clucker). Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for the chips and fried chicken, but just be aware it is pricey and the staff have no idea what is halal or not in terms of ingredients used apart from the meat / chicken they use. So do research before going.More

Maybe I’ve hit peak-burger. Maybe burger joints have jumped the shark. This place looked fashionably promising on arrival but quickly disappointed, as fashionable things always do. So, the deets. Us - a family group of 8, aged 5 to 50plus The staff- very nice, helpful...and friendly. Perfect The music - too loud. Like a loud bar rather than a restaurant. Shouting to anyone more than a chair away to be heard. Maybe I’m old but like to chat when dining. Food - I had nachos. Very average, dry. Cheese runny and not vaguely grilled. Meh. Chicken wings. Big but quite bland. Chicken burger in batter. Big portion and filling but teen daughter (who eats mucho burger) said it was ok. Nothing more. Big and OK. Waco Taco salad. - arrived with no guacamole. Wife said it was very average. Below service station M&S level. Guacamole arrived when we complained. Did I mention the nice staff. Chicken and Waffle - waffle was burnt but quickly replaced. Waiter took off service charge from bill because of this although I thought service charge was not obligatory in the UK. Ahh well. Guess that’s American dining for you. Overall. Won’t be going there again. Ps the fries were really over salted. Go easy with the shaker.More

A family member booked this restaurant as I wanted somewhere that did American food and cocktails. I wasn’t disappointed. Great selection of cocktails and amazing milkshakes. My favourite out of the food we ordered were the buttermilk biscuits. They were hot, fresh, and so tasty....The cheese sauce on my cheesy chips was also amazing. The service was great: fast and friendly. Only downside was that the servers bussed the table throughout the meal rather than waiting until everyone had finished before removing plates. I personally don’t like that being done but I understand why some people do it. I’m definitely glad we tried this place.More

The restaurant had a pretty fun vibe and a decent location. I had the Waco taco salad. It was rather small and not very flavorful.

This is my favourite restaurant in all of London as all the food is so delicious! I had the classic Stax cheeseburger which was juicy and rich in flavour! My friend had the famous chicken and waffles she said it was the best underrated combo!...I would recommend this place for all sorts of occasions and I will definitely go again!More

A friend and I had brunch here on Saturday. We had very tasty meals, the portion of pancakes was a bit too much for me, but lovely. Pleasant and inviting locale, friendly staff, an interesting menu with a strong US influence. Just very pleasant.

Decided to go as we heard they do 25% off on wednesdays. We ordered 4 mains and 2 sides and drinks. The food was nothing special. The offers are very unclear! 2 for 1 on cocktails, but not on mocktails, which cost far less because...there is no alcohol! Do not drink alcohol and felt this was very unfair! Also heard there was 25% off on food on Wednesday. When the bill came, we were told that we had to book a table online to receive 25% off. And if we called, it doesn’t count nor if we walk in. What rubbish! Was never explained to us. Staff were very unaccommodating and will not be returning as it is over priced but the sub standard food.More

thanksgiving experience, paid £45 per head for food only, thought it was going to be a tasting menu at the price. Oh how wrong we were. The dishes were presented in big metal sharing trays and were very stodgy and over cooked. It felt like...we were being catered for in prison with slops. The waiting staff did not tell us which dishes were gluten free or veggie. Verdict, very poor!!! The only saving grace was the prossecco at £22 a bottle. There was only 2 cholices of wine, white or red and were not of a good standard and the same price.More
