One of the nicest coffee shops i have ever visited and definitely my new regular wonderful service and a gorgeous grade listed building a beautiful space that definitely deserves each excellent reviews.

Having visited A Small Fish in a Big Pond earlier today, it is no surprise that this place is ranked #1 on TripAdvisor for places to eat in Liverpool. From the food to the customer service, this café was outstanding. I ordered the cheese and...ham toasted sandwich, which was served with side salad and crisps, which was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. It was one of the best cheese and ham toasted sandwiches I have tasted! The owner (Cheryl, I think) was absolutely lovely and greeted us as we arrived. Her customer service skills were fantastic and we felt very welcome as a result. This café was absolutely spotless on our visit and we saw tables being wiped down after people had finished eating, so the cleanliness of this place was very good. I was also surprised at how little I had to pay to have my lunch - for a cheese and ham toasted sandwich, as well as a pot of tea, I only had to pay £6.55, which I thought was extremely reasonable. You'd pay that in the likes of Costa Coffee, but the experience wouldn't be anywhere near as good. This café is quite small and is furnished with a couple of (extremely comfortable) chairs. As a result, it might be difficult to find a table at peak times (although I believe there was additional seating in another room). Overall, I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. It's not the easiest place to find - it's located on Water Street, which is tucked away from the main shopping part of Liverpool, meaning you may need to get Google Maps out if you're not familiar with Liverpool! However, it's worth seeking out because this place is a true hidden gem of Liverpool. This place cannot put A-Boards out front because it is located in a listed building I believe, so it relies on word of mouth. As a result, not only do I highly recommend a visit to A Small Fish in a Big Pond, but if you enjoy your visit, I'd recommend leaving some feedback on a review site!More

So glad I visited this café. Had my first ever Norwegian almond cake, and it was amazing. Really a good match for the delicious coffee. Totally agree with the other reviewer when it comes to the customer service. Such a warm welcome. Will be heading...back here on my next visit to Liverpool.More

For a family who have never been to Liverpool I can not imagine a better way to be welcomed. The food was lovely and very fairly priced, the Coffee was far far better than you get from any of your standard coffee shop chains. But...above all it was the care and attention to service that was what really made this place an absolute must for anyone wanting some lunch or a coffee in Liverpool. All the little touches, making the hot chocolates a little cooler than usual due to them being for young children, providing a plate of crisps for the children while they waited for their lunch, not just saying dogs are welcome but opening the back room so we had enough room to drink and eat comfortably without taking over the place. If all that already wasn't enough to guarantee next time we come to Liverpool we will come back, then the incredible welcome we got from the lady working who couldn't do enough to make us welcome, happy and comfortable is the clincher. She was an absolute credit to A Small Fish in a Big Pond. And as first time visitors to Liverpool she was an absolute credit to the city. I have visited countless Cafes over the years but never felt a review was necessary. Today I felt obligated, I would've felt incredibly guilty to have been on the end of such fantastic service and a lovely lunch break and not to have made sure the appreciation was known. Please, anyone in Liverpool after a bite to eat or even just a drink. Don't look any further!More

We happened upon this cafe back in 2019 and it was such a lovely experience. Very friendly staff with great food at a good price. 2.5 years later we sought it out again and was not disappointed. Love that they have expanded into a second...room but have kept that quaint cafe vibe. Still with excellent service and quality food at such a reasonable price. Will be a returning customer again next time.More

Called in for tea and a toastie. Cafe is tucked away on water street , a hidden gem. Fab place, lovely staff and great value . Food was good quality, will defo go again..
