Whilst staying in the area for a couple of days I really wanted pancakes for breakfast. This place didn't let me down. The bacon and syrup pancake stack hit the spot. My wife had the full breakfast and said it was very tasty too. Next...time I visit I will have to try more of the menu as it all looked good. Suppose I could have the pancakes as a starter?More
Nice and simple menu for all day brunch. They only had one chef today which meant a half hour wait for our food and a few errors with our order which were quickly rectified by the very friendly staff.
Easy to get parked and we...got a table right away. Coffees were delicious, food was ok. It was a bit cold as the door was kept open all the time.More
Fancied something a bit different and found this place on trip advisor. I was not disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly and the covid measures in place were second to none.
We were greeted and offered a choice of a table inside or outside and...opted for inside. The menu choice was great with breakfast, sandwiches, burgers and shakes among others. Very much a 50s American diner vibe which was awesome.
We ordered the strawberry pancake stack, the French toast with bacon and 2 small cookies and cream milkshakes. Everything was phenomenal and cooked fresh to order.
I cant heap enough praise on this place and the awesome staff who make it such an inviting place to come. Will definately visit again when I'm next anywhere near the lakes.More
Turned up this morning as it’s website said it was dog friendly but when we got there we were told we couldn’t come in because we had a dog. Excuse me but that’s not dog friendly in my view - completely misleading and dishonest. So...went to The Coffee Lounge, got a warm welcome and a fantastic breakfast.More
We were staying in a hotel nearby and couldn't get a convenient time slot for breakfast so googled and found the Filling station. We had been staying in Scotland for a few days previously and hadn't been able to get a cooked breakfast. We were bowled...over by the cleanliness speed and efficiency of everything here. The pancakes and full Cumbrian breakfast were excellent. And the staff so pleasant and helpful !More
Came across the filling station by accident really, looking for somewhere to grab a coffee and snack and found this place, good coffee and tea and the food that was being served looked amazing, just had some of the lemon drizzle cake and it was...amazing!!More
Once again I popped into the cafe for lunch during a long bike ride around West Cumbria. Cajun chicken sandwich and pancakes. Quality was very good, portion size just right. Service excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit

We do a wide range of vegetarian breakfasts including a vegetarian Full English, vegetarian pancake stacks, and Eggs Benedict with mushrooms or smoked Loch Fyne Kippers rather than meat. We also serve smoked Loch Fyne Kippers as a meal in addition to basics such as eggy bread. Check out our current menu on our website (Tripadvisor won't allow me to post a link, sorry).
We don't have our children's menu online unfortunately but it does include vegetarian options and our staff are always happy to help.

Sorry Kath but our last delivery was Saturday morning and although we try our best to ensure we don't run out of key items but, with an exceptionally busy Bank Holiday weekend, it's not always possible to second guess what will sell the most. And with being so small we simply cannot hold enormous amounts of everything - it physically isn't possible and holding stock for 2.5 days already is a struggle. For memory I cannot actually recall the last time we ran out of black pudding.
Our Monday delivery is the first we get after a Saturday and it's normally in plenty of time for the start of service but, with a very busy weekend and holiday traffic clogging up the roads, it didn't arrive until a bit later. Hence why we'd simply ran out.
I'm sorry this led to you being disappointed but you'll appreciate we are only a tiny cafe and have to rely on it main suppliers delivering speedily, especially over exceptionally busy bank holiday weekends.
Hi, yes we're dog friendly inside, but only on the right hand side as you come in - that's 2 booths and 2 coffee counter areas.
We also have a bowl should your pet need a drink too.
