On the website the restaurant looks a lot more spacious and airy than it actually is. I specifically requested a table in a quieter area of the restaurant, but being a Saturday lunch time, this was very optimistic. We were sat downstairs however, and the...noise was horrendous and all a bit chaotic. The food is, however, really good. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Boeff Bourginon which had a hearty meaty flavour. The mini desserts leave a bit to be desired but as a small sweet treat after the great mains it wasn't a problem.More

We came here on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. What a lovely place, the food was really enjoyable too. I chose arancini, monkfish and the cinnamon apple cake. When we are next in the area we will be back.

Been meaning to go to this restaurant for a while and we finally did last night for my fiancés birthday. We LOVE sopranos so to find this was run by the same owner we had to go and so glad we did! When we arrived...we were greeted by the door and was offered to take our coats, we had time to have a drink in the bar which was lovely before taking our seats for dinner. We all ordered something different and we found ourselves turning starters into tasters as everything was just sooo good!! Main course arrived and there was no sharing from this point as it was all so delicious, we were all in agreement that we simply just had to book to go again! From the staff, atmosphere, gentle French music playing in the background, it was an amazing evening. The restaurant was full, even on a Thursday so we've already enquired for another date to not be disappointed! An amazing little French Bistro in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. Fabulous evening and a heartfelt thank you to all the team last night, it was a truly special evening.More

We had a fabulous meal here last night to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday. Although the restaurant was busy and we were a large party, the service was very good and the food delicious as well as hot (quite rare from our experience when serving...a large group). Lovely atmosphere and the staff so kind, friendly and thoughtful, no request was too much for them. It was also lovely not to have the hassle of preordering before our event and being able to choose actually what we fancied on the night (which was most of the menu!) Many of our party had never been to Coco Retro before but they are already planning to go back.More

The food was really good and the staff were lovely. Would encourage family and friends go. There were a few parties upstairs but that didn't interfere with the service

This is a lovely French Bistro. We were here to celebrate an anniversary and it is a great smaller restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food selection is varied. We had the Monkfish and the Confit Duck both were perfectly cooked, well presented and piping...hot. There is a large wine selection. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely evening with great food.More

Very enjoyable evening. Good menu with well presented food. Thanks to Federico and his colleagues. My wife required gluten-free food as well as a course without garlic or onions. The cook was able to respond exceedingly well. The restaurant is very popular, so book a...table in advance.More

My partner and I visited Coco Retro this summer after being recommended to eat there by a colleague and it did not disappoint! After a couple of great cocktails at the bar we were seated upstairs by a very friendly waitress where we had the...Côte de boeuf for two with a nice bottle of red recommended by the sommelier. Great night overall, so much so that we visited their sister restaurant Soprano the next week!More

I am a regular and would say both are equally good. However, if you'd like a bit of privacy, downstairs is a private dining room.

I would say downstairs (ground floor). Upstairs, the seating can be a little tight.
