What is not to love about this lovely, quaint restaurant in Scarborough? If you don't live in Scarborough, the drive there alone is incredible... On arrival, one is always greeted with a smile. In the winter you can sit cozily inside by the fire, in Summer, on the verandah, dog at your feet and the smell of the ocean to accompany you. The coffee is luxurious, how do they get the milk so silky? The menu is exciting. All the items are delicious so it's difficult to choose! They have something for all taste buds and cater extensively for vegans and vegetarians. Not to mention, the portion sizes. Talk about generous! Thank you Whole earth café for existing. I live for my next visit.

We spent a wonderful relaxed morning at this beautiful cafe. The cafe is set back from the road so be on the lookout for the sign. The trek over the mountain from Claremont in itself such a treat. We were greeted by very friendly staff and could choose our table either on the verandah, indoors or the courtyard adjacent to the covered indoor seating. Breakfast menu has all the usual suspects and hands down as the best cappuccinos ever. Quality ingredients have been used and portions are a generous size. If anyone has travelled to ubud in Bali this place reminds me of the cafes dotted all around the town. One could easily spend a few hours just enjoying the the peacefulness and beauty of Scarborough. I love finding these little gems in our backyard and look forward to returning very soon. I always have a peek at the bathrooms in an establishment as it usually is a very good indicator of the cleanliness of the staff and management and how comfortable I will be consuming the food....the bathrooms are extremely clean and tidy. See you soon

Hardly noticeable from the street there is Whole Earth Cafe. The place has a pleasant informal atmosphere and good food. The six of us went for breakfast and enjoyed omelettes with different fillings, cereals, eggs with extras and all sorts of smoothies and juices. The service was friendly and attentive.

Firstly, the positives: pleasant environment in the scenic village of Scarborough; car park with helpful attendant; well made juice; generous portions. Then the not so good: as a coeliac I am strictly gluten free. I asked whether there was gluten free bread for the smashed avo on toast. An alternative to bread was suggested by the waitron- a vegan rosti. I accepted the change and was happy until the bill showed that we had been charged 60 rands in addition to the regular price of the dish. I am used to paying extra for GF foods, but this felt like one too far. And it was my birthday outing!! We reached the point of no return.

The entire experience was a delight, from the booking to the welcoming and seating. Despite being fully booked for Mother's Day, an arrangement was made for a table situated out of the way of the entrance. The service was quick and efficient, the waiter was polite, the food was extremely fresh, the salad crispy and size of the portions very generous. This is the second time we visit the place as last month we did with friends and it wad fantastic to see that the quality and the experience has remained extremely positive. Will certainly be back to explore other dishes from your menu, thank you.

So this quaint little spot had the most cozy atmosphere and lovely decor. The coffee was great, service was spot on....and the food! We shared a Shroom. It is a mushroom sauce on a type of hashbrown made with all sorts of veg but not potato. What a lekker little spot

We've been visiting Capetown for many years and The Whole Earth is 'up there' with our favourite places to eat. Its tucked away behind a huge tree so offers sun and shade in a tranquil setting within walking distance of Scarborough Beach. It's always busy so best to book if there's a large group of you or you want a guaranteed outside table. The food is tasty and wholesome, the juices cool and refreshing, the coffee and cakes are also very good. In particular we love the chicken wraps and fish which are always served with a wonderful salad and choice of fries (if there is no loadshedding). Have also tried the local cider which is fabulous. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is bright and airy and has a rustic feel to it. It provides the most wonderful space for a relaxing and enjoyable time. My only minor gripe is that it closes at 4pm!!

My wife and I take every Saturday to explore new brwakfast nooks around Western Cape Peninsula. This lovely little gem of a nook is absolutely great .... we both ordered the Whole Earth Breakfast for ZAR125 ... our poached medium eggs were PERFECTLY cooked, the black pepper sauce with the mushrooms was to die for (how did they know my wife's a pepper addict?) ... the bacon was perfectly crispy just the way we like it (without even needing to ask) ... the fried tomato with basil pesto on to was deliscious ... the mild curry baked beans was an unexpected surprise, and now on to that awesome mash potato fritter ..... WOW!!! My Earl Grey tea was served in a massive 3 cup teapot (perfect for me to test my travel tea kosie on) ... my wife enjoyed her Rooibos iced tea. The service was fabulous, the meal came promptly and was hot ... all round I would definitely recommend stopping here for a breakfast enroute around the peninsula to one and all ... To the chef, you are an excellent chef To the waiters, you were great To the owner, your staff are awesome, the menu is great, the food is fabulous (only issue was you only had marmalade jam which is not everyones cuppa tea) The pricing is **/*** and I am definitely gonna stop here again in the future to tey your awesome looking omelette out.

This was the second time we have been there and once again the flies destroyed the whole experience .We had flies sitting on our food and one flew into my coffee .We checked the kitchen and were horrified by the number of flies we saw .They clearly get into the food . I walked around the premises and saw very little fly control .There appeared to be sewerage water in the gutter of the main road below the premises which might give a clue as to the fly problem . Other than that the food as well presented and the staff were friendly but service was slow.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Sadly Scarborough ( and surrounds) does periodically get plagued with flies. The wind direction, local foliage, and seasonal kelp patterns can influence this. We do our very best to ensure hygiene standards are always upkept and we have a number of fly deterrent methods which we utilize. We have just invested in a high quality anti fly candle so we do expect this to help. To clarify, Scarborough uses under ground septic tanks and not main line sewerage systems so I can assure you this not the source of the problem. The good news is the fly problem is seasonal and certainly not all year round. We do hope you will join us again.

Easy and relaxed location, wooden chairs and tables, no makeup, very friendly and attentive service. We chose a mixed salad, which delighted us with its freshness, quality and complex flavors. Likewise the chicken wraps, very tasty and wonderfully flavored too. The catch of the day, on the first day cob, on the second yellow tail, fresh, perfect medium panfried, the vegetable garnishes added to it not overcooked and with a lot of its own flavor. Only regarding the wine there is room for improvement. But overall, delicious, healthy, high quality food with sufficient large portions. Were there on two days for lunch and left it each time highly satisfied. Bravo!

On a drive through the Peninsula we came across Scarborough around lunch time and discovers the Whole Earth Cafe. Set back from the road a little, it turned out to be a real gem. Emphasis on healthy food without it being too much in your face. the beetroot falafel wrap was a real treat and the salad was delicious!

Went for breakfast with a friend who was returning to the US the next day. We all had the eggs Benedict two on a so called hash brown and one on sourdough. Served on cold plates my personal pet hate congealing eggs on cold plates! The hash brown was a creamy mash potato fried to be crispy on the outside. Don’t call it a hash brown because it isn’t. Hash browns are grated raw potato bound with flour and egg and then fried. Apart from that the service was friendly coffee was fine. Won’t rush back!

We were pleasantly surprised by this lovely spot and fabulous food. I always say you can tell how good a restaurant is by the number of patrons... especially after 2pm. This one was full. We stopped here for a late lunch and we’re not disappointed. Being vegan and gluten-free there were plenty of options on the menu. I had the Whole bowl, it was fantastic! They also made a dairy free smoothie for me. Do take a turn around here when you’re in the area, it’s well worth it.

Stopped here during a tour of the cape and had an amazing lunch. We had the love salad and the fish of the day which was cooked to perfection and very fresh. Also the calamari appy was the bet o have ever had. Worth stopping for a meal if you are in the area.

Sometimes there are days like that. You come into a café and you immediately feel like a friend. But this time it was even better. Everything was magical. The team that immediately beamed at us, the incredibly good food and an energy that is hard to describe. Just turn on the song "Africa" by Toto, close your eyes and imagine the best café in the world. Welcome to the "Whole Earth Café" for me from now on "Holy Earth Café". Thank you. For everything!
