We planned to spend a week in Scarborough attracted by the wind and waves blessing the area. The hub cafe is on the top floor of the village hub with Forages and other shops on the ground floor. Great atmosphere and a very multicultural mix of people all approachable and friendly makes this place very welcoming. The food at the hub cafe was very nice. We had some delicious starters (langoustine, and peaches and cheese salad) followed by pork belly and lamb all of them absolutely divine. The house Sauvignon Blanc was also a perfect match. I would strongly suggest to try this restauranti if you are in the area or alternatively try the ground the food at Forages on the ground floor if the restaurant is fully booked or closed.

The Hub Cafe is a great venue that looks over the ocean. Pick a seat on the balcony!
The food was interesting, fresh, tasty, so good we had to come back a few days later to show some friends what a great experience we had.
Every sauce, garnish and spice has been carefully picked, curated to create an amazing dish.
Even the potato wedges, which one would think cant be improved much, were the best i have ever tasted - make sure you order them with your starters!
Overall memorable visit & winning restaurant.
Well Done to Dylan and his team for creating in my mind one of the best restaurants in Cape Town.

Man what an experience.
A couple of my friends and I heard about this restaurant through the grape vine, so we decided to take a drive around the Cape and stop off there for lunch. And let me just say that this gem of a restaurant really knows what they are doing.
The food is really amazing. A small menu, but set up with such variety. And tastes that just explode with deliciousness in your mouth.
The service was so friendly and so fast, despite how busy they were. Everyone working like a well oiled machine.
But to top it all off, was the atmosphere of the whole please. Such a wholesome set up, with fresh produce and food to take back home with you.
Honestly one of the top places I've been to in a very long time!
Can't wait to come back!

We had not been to Sopra at the Hub for over a year so decided to give it another try. My partner had the Swordfish which was very disappointing as well as being expensive at R320 for a portion. I had the lamb ravioli. A very small portion and the parcels were glued together clearly not tossed in sage butter. Both dishes served by the obliging staff on cold plates. We shared the Nutella cheesecake which was light and flavourful. Nobody enquired how our meal was. Will be more than a year before we rush back. It was a magnificent sunset!

We have until now loved coming to The Hub for breakfasts and lunches. Great spot with a good vibe and amazing deli. Sadly In the peak of season when a resturant needs all hands on deck there wasn’t the staff needed to cope with a packed restaurant which was obviously going to happen. We waited for ages then had to help ourselves to menus then wait ages till our drinks orders were taken, followed 10 mins later for our food order. All the time seeing that you were desperately under staffed ! We know holidays is time to kick back and relax and take it easy but not when you are a family of 8 hangry people all struggling to stay out of the sun. The food was disappointing, melenzanna Parmigiana was R130 with less than half an aubergine on the plate. The chips were reheated and dry. 3 pieces ravioli for R150. We never mind paying for good food, but not over priced, slow, disappointing food.

This restaurant was a huge disappointment. Absolutely everything I ordered was awful. Arancini balls like heavy dough balls, served with a tomato paste ‘sauce’ a salad served drenched in a poor quality balsamic vinegar, stale round pizza dough little breads with chopped tomato on the top. This place is not cheap and perhaps the owner needs to take a few lessons on how to cook real Italian food.

Four of us ordered the prawn pasta. We received a smallish bowl of good pasta but with only 2 prawns and an empty head shell for R195. We complained about the prawns and were told quite bluntly that this was there serving. The chef Patrick wanted to stand and argue with us even after he was told the matter was closed. Unbelievably arrogant response to a customer's concerns.

Breakfast today was a shocker - third successive bad experience over the past several weeks. I don’t know what has happened in the kitchen but what was a delightful way to start the morning is no longer; change of ownership means that I would be better off cooking my own breakfast and saving an expense that was many-fold greater than the value of the raw ingredients. The Hub has lost the plot - turned an exquisite breakfast experience into a mediocre ordeal where the food is no better than a hastily prepared army ration.

We were very disappointed with the menu at The Hub. Firstly Hake ( to my mind )is not a line fish. Two of the other main courses were unavailable. The choices left were not much to be desired so my husband had the pork sliders...disappointing.I chose two starters as a main. They were well presented and tasty. We loved the old menu and it was good. The fact that there were very few tables occupied on a Saturday lunch says it all. Will not be going back again.

The Hub is exceptional! Every village should aspire to have such a high quality shop/restaurant/cafe! We lived in Scarborough for nearly two months during the pandemic and went daily for one reason or another. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The coffee and croissants are better than anywhere in central London and I can highly recommend the entire restaurant menu! Our kids continue to talk about the smoothies, pizzas and SOS fruit snacks and we all miss our daily visits immensely! If your in the area make sure you go! You’d be crazy not too :)

Great addition to the Deep South dining options and well worth a trip down from Cape Town for the meal alone. A gem of a restaurant with something for everyone (glutenfree, vegan, carnivore, etc) and delightful layers of flavor in every dish. The kitchen team clearly has some serious skills but the setting and menu are very accessible so it's a nice blend of casual and gourmet. Special shout out to the wedges which were next level (and I've had my fair share of fried potato products) as well as the rainbow carrot main which I admit I expected to be bland but I could not have been more wrong. Delicious, satisfying portions all around. Highly recommend. Wine list was also solid.

We arrived here after a recommendation, beautiful place with character and bits and pieces to see, we sat down as load shedding took over, quite a few people there so that ended it as they dont have a generator. We went through the deli and bought fresh ciabatta, baguette and bagels. Also fritters and hummus plus muffins. All were fresh, well baked and made and very tasty. I think the food would have been good too if we could have had it. Generators are a necessity today so worth the investment even if it provides limited usage, cannot stop serving. We will be back though nove vibe too.

We stayed at the restaurant ‘Sopra’ in the evening about The Village Hub Essen. It was great!
Both the starters and the main course were great and the service team was super nice as well. The previous assessment from 2022 therefore seems very outdated.
The opening hours also differ from the rest of the Village Hub and are open until 9pm in the evening.
Gladly again and again in the nice place where time seems to stand still :)

Smallish menu, well trained staff. Superb Italian food under the guidance of an Italian guy. Delicious dishes - you will not know how good until you try. Definitely not mass exported Italian food, but the real thing. A wonderful new venture. We will be back soon.
