Loved the selection of real ales, all gravity fed from stillage behind the bar. Not expensive. Large selection of real cider poured from glass flagons. Quirky building that was once a public convenience apparently. Looking forward to our next visit
This CAMRA rated pub serves an excellent selection of well kept cask ales in a small eclectic building in the centre of Rye. Well worth a visit - or even two! Great table service from attentive staff. Recommended.
This is a place to drink good beer, good cider or good gin. If you like any of the above, then this is the place for you. Wine is available, but pretty limited. It is a quirky venue, with a good atmosphere and the staff...are very friendly and welcoming. There is some outdoor seating where you can watch the world go by. Food is limited to pork pies and scotch eggs and the like, the scotch eggs we had were excellent. Will visit again when next in Rye.More
We went on a busy summer Saturday afternoon and whilst it looked like every seat was taken they managed to find us some seats outside. Really tasty drinks and friendly, welcoming staff. We were offered an umbrella when it threatened to rain which was a...nice touch.More
Didn't try the food - but it looked great... Did turn up late on a busy night and was found a place, presented with a beer menu, asked if all was OK and was served with a glorious nightcap just before closing time. As the...call for last orders rang out I saw the landlord begin a tour around all the tables asking whether customers wanted one final pint before bedtime. Very much my kind of pub.More
