We really enjoyed our experience here, the service was wonderful, the atmosphere relaxed and the food was exceptional. Off street parking outside is free after 6pm, the restaurant is cosy and warm and prices reasonable, around £80 for the three of us including a couple of glasses of wine. Highly recommended.

Visited after seeing reviews here on trip advisor. The place itself is lovely, social distancing def in place, felt very safe. Warm welcome by Amber and she looked after us throughout our meal. Very good wine list, a choice of about 5 starters and 6 or 7 mains. We had scallops and the cheese and leek soufflé to start with, both delicious. For mains we had the steak and the pork. Again both were delicious. The crackling on the pork was something else and the dauphinois potatoes were superb. We are not dessert people but had 3, THREE between the 2 of us! Both had the creme brûlée and we shared a sticky toffee pudding. Left feeling full but not bloated and walked back to the centre of Torquay which took about 20 minutes (all downhill which was a bonus). Altogether the bill came to £108 (I had a bottle of white, my husband had 5 beers) and both thought this was very reasonable indeed considering the quality of food and cooking. You def need to book, overheard the owner saying she was fully booked for then next 7 days. Would highly recommend, one of the finest meals we’ve had in a long long time.

First time here and certainly will not be the last. Nice small restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. We were treated very well by a very attentive member of staff and served delicious high quality food and also as is not the case in many food establishments, the drinks are very reasonably priced

I pre booked a table for 2 person here on Wednesday 21st October and my partner and I are so glad we did. The setting, service, food and drink were excellent. We were looked after with very friendly and timely service too. The was food excellently presented and was delicious too. There was great variety on the menu to choose from for us and this was also the case for drinks too. As a result of the above our evening dining here just flew by. We would definitely return to The Waddling Duck Bistro the next time we visit Torquay and we would recommend to others to dine here as well.

Staff very pleasant but found them quite loud. At times they were almost shouting when talking to customers. The music was loud and so we found it was not a relaxing experience. The decor was very much on a duck theme but the duck was overdone. Maybe the owners taste but it was all looking cluttered. Very busy and for us a makeover would be an improvement. My meal tasted amazing but my wife was unwell and ate very little and we left without desert etc. So food superb but not the ambience. Sorry

I only give good reviews when I think they are absolutely warrented. I booked for Saturday night as part of a weekend away. We were met at the door by our very friendly host and shown to our table (wearing our face masks) which was about 6 feet from the door. The starter arrived very promptly (French Onion Soup & Turkey Bon Bons). Both were excellent and beautifully presented. Our main courses were the Creedy Carver Duck Breast which was cooked to perfection and accompanyied by Daupinoise potatoes and a superb plum & merlot jus. My wife had the pan-roasted Chicken Supreme that she absolutely 'loved'. dessert was just as good - Sticky Toffee Pudding and Dark Chocolate Brownie - Yum! All in all, we had great food, terrific service and a wonderful evening. Many thanks to the Waddling Duck.

My wife & I, along with two friends had the most wonderful evening meal, & a beautiful host. The interior is cosy, so not loud that you have problems hearing your conversations. Knowing that this is a family run restaurant with the chef being the hosts husband, the attention to detail on presentation & taste was superb. I only wished we lived locally as we would book this restaurant on a weekly basis, just like our friends. Thank you once again for provide us with exceptional food & service. Dave & Kerry.

We contacted The Waddling Duck at sort notice to arrange a birthday meal. Luckily we were informed of a cancellation so were able to have a table! The food and wine were nothing short of delicious. We were worried about ‘posh portions’, but we were left beyond satisfied. The front of house staff were welcoming, warm and accommodating to certain requests and dietary needs. As the meal came to an end, the birthday boy was kindly given a box of chocolates - which was such a thoughtful touch. When we are next in the area we will definitely make sure to book a table in advance! Thank you Lydia and the Team!

Lovely relaxing venue, candle lit and tastefully decorated. Excellent service from happy smiley waitress. We had a starter, main course and dessert each and each of them was special, well presented and tasted lovely. The meal was more expensive than we'd normally have but it was well worth it for the exceptional quality.

We arrived to a friendly hostess who showed us to our table and brought us water while we looked at menus. The restaurant was cosy and warm which was a comfort after a long walk up the hill! We opted for a bottle of Waddling Duck pinot noir which was nice and light and accompanied the meals well. The food was fab, we opted for mains and pudding. I had the belly pork and my wife the duck, both cooked well and delicious. The vegetables were cooked well and included in the price which is a refreshing change these days! Puddings of crème Brulee and Brownie were a prefect end to the night. Well done and keep up the hard work, we will be back!

Staying nearby and was headed for the pub but noticed the “special offer” of 2 mains and a bottle of wine for £35. Wow, everything about the place and the couple that run it was brilliant. We shared 2 starters between the 4 of us, the duck and Brie tartlet was fantastic. The mains of steaks, belly pork and the vegetarian pie could not be faulted and the 2 deserts were mouth watering. The wine was also good quality. We had such a great evening and wished we lived nearby so we could return again. The 2 owners were so friendly and really know what the restaurant business is all about. Well done to them.

In Torquay for a few nights and booked this restaurant as great reviews. A short taxi ride from middle of Torquay to a lovely high street. Had a couple of drinks in the pub at top of road. Called Kent’s I think, then walked to the Waddling Duck. Smiles all round greeted us and table ready. We had booked 4 weeks prior. The young lady who seated us and took drinks order was a fantastic front of house presence so pleasant and helpful. Easy to talk to and all felt really good . She really set the scene for the evening Food was excellent. Scallops to start were on Chirozo and tasted really good , mains were chicken for my wife and I had sea bass both excellent. Nice bottle of wine also and a couple of bottles of Peroni to be sociable ! First time here and will definitely return. Really nice bistro type feel to this restaurant , great staff and food excellent in a very pleasant high street setting with local pub also. Ticks all the boxes for us.

Was a special occasion and we decided to go here based on reviews as we are from out of town. We were welcomed by a nice lady who turned out to be the owner and she gave us our menu and asked if we had any Q's about the menu etc. We ordered the souffle and french onion soup (my fav) and they were fantastic. I followed with fillet steak and my partner had fish wrapped in pancetta. My steak was cooked well and the other half loved the fish. We finished with a creme brulee and a brownie. Great finish to the meal. We shared a nice bottle of red and when the bill came overall it was very reasonable.
