While visiting South Lake Tahoe, my wife and I enjoy visiting the local shops and dining. We recently discovered Base Camp Pizza and really love it. We are able to take our dog with us to enjoy outside dining. This trip we split the large Caesar Salad as a starter. The salad was very good and there was plenty for two. For out main course, we ordered a large pizza, which included half of a Base Camp pizza (Pepperoni, Italian sausage, roasted peppers and onions, and portabella mushrooms), and Big Mountain pizza (Loaded with Italian sausage, bacon, pepperoni, and Canadian bacon). Our waiter was very attentive and even brings a bowl of water for the doggie to enjoy. I’m am unsure of weekdays, but on weekend evenings they have live music to enjoy with dinner. This place is moderately priced, but nice. I would recommend Base Camp Pizza! Enjoy

Craving pizza, we ordered online takeout one night. Heads up, the takeout desk is to the left of the normal entrance facing the ice rink area. Indoor & outdoor seating available. We ordered the Lg (8 slices, 16in) Base Camp pizza (pepperoni, Italian sausage, roasted peppers and onions, and portabella mushrooms). The pizza was delicious, but like most things in Tahoe, was over-priced ($26).

Base Camp Pizza
Staying in Heavenly Village I did not want to get in a car and drive for my pick up dinner so decided to try Base Camp Pizza. I thought the prices were a little high but after tasting my pizza I with the quality and quantity of the toppings and the overall pizza the price was not to much out of line. I selected the Fire Roasted Medley (Roasted garlic and fresh basil, tomatoes, roasted onions and peppers, and savory goat cheese, topped off with our own four cheese blend) with added sausage. Ordered online and the restaurant both texted and called when my pizza was ready. Was able to walk out of the Grand Residence and pick up my pizza, no problem. The problem occurred on the walk back to the hotel. Even though my mask I could smell this pizza and it was so intoxicating that I wanted to stop mid step, open the box and have a slice. I did wait until I came back to the room and with the first bite I knew I had a wonderful pizza to eat. The crust was just right more on the thin side and the cheese and toppings were great. Though not the pizza I love when I travel to NYC and have a Julianna or Lucali pizza, this was one fine pizza. Due to the amount of toppings the medium size pizza I ordered was enough for me to have for dinner that evening and for lunch the next day. I will for sure be going back to Base Camp for some more food the next time I come back to Heavenly.

Base Camp Pizza in South Lake Tahoe is a fun pizza joint with tons of space. Also, they have great gluten free pizza crust and that is what brought us here. South Tahoe is the most bustling area of the lake and there is a lot going on. The Shops at Heavenly Village is a nice little shopping center and this is where Base Camp is located. There is a large parking garage, within steps of the shops. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating available, and lots of it. We made it here for lunch and were seated right away. We loved the large mason jars that the drinks and water were severed in. You didn't even need a refill. We ordered a mushroom/pepperoni pizza and a fire roasted medley pizza, both on gluten free crust. The GF crust is fantastic; crispy, buttery, and holds up to the toppings. Both pizzas were good, but the mushroom pizza could of used a few more toppings. We really loved the garlic and fire roasted veggies on the second pizza. To conclude, Base Camp is a great stop in South Tahoe. The pizza is good and they have gluten free options.

3 stars for average. Nothing special. Ordered a cheese pizza and would say it tasted like a tombstone. The pasta bolognesse was ok and the meatball option was average at best. Pear salad was good. Tip-there are some bar tables outside accessible on first come basis - better to freeze while eating than wait 3 hours for some dinner. Limited options in this town

First experience: We went on a Monday everything and the wait was only an hour. We ended up getting a table at the bar where we enjoyed an amazing rum drink! The pizza was really good and a good size. I can definitely see why this place is popular. The staff was super nice too. Second experience: We went on a Saturday night and we hadjoy no wait. I went with my husband, his brother and his fiance. The server Lila was so friendly and sweet. She had great customer service. My brother in laws fiance snuck away and asked if it was possible to get best man written on it with pepperonis. They said they would see what they could do. They came back and gave her a secret thumbs up it was a go. We got the pizza and you can see they made a heart and cut it into tiny pieces. This place is so busy. The fact they took the extra time to make this special says everything about this place. Thank you for another wonderful experience.

We arrived at around 7:30 pm and were told there would be a two hour wait for a table outside. But the hostess said we could seat right away in the bar at a pub table, which we did. Ordered one personal pizza to share. My husband also ordered a tap beer and I ordered an adult root beer. The bar tender served us, he was very efficient. The thin crust pizza was hot and crispy. The drinks were good. Fun atmosphere in the bar. The only down side is that we could not watch the guy singing outside. Definitely would recommend this place although expect to wait if you want to sit outside.

Base Camp is listed as the #1 Pizza place in South Lake Tahoe. We didn't try any others but there's no reason to think it's not. When we ordered online it gave us a one hour pickup time. As the place was scheduled to close in 30 minutes we called to confirm. We were told that the one hour estimate was correct. It was about 50 minutes when we got the automated message that our pizza was being boxed. We ordered two different pies and they didn't disappoint. Well worth the wait!

Great pizza! We ordered a Hawaiian with Red Onions Pizza and a Base Camp pizza to go. The crust was crisp without being burnt, had good chew and was able to hold up all those toppings. All the toppings tasted fresh and were in good proportions - you can taste each topping well without any being overpowering. The flavors really worked well together, so I would assume all their specialty flavors are created in a balanced and flavorful way. I will note that the sauce flavor is not very strong, but with the good balance of all the other flavors, it wasn't really missed. We ordered in late August 2020, and they were not accepting to go orders on the phone or in-person. You must order on-line, however their system is pretty seamless giving you a text and a phone call when your pizza was ready to pick up.

I had a good feeling going into our Base Camp experience, but still the pizza we ate far exceeded my expectations and completely blew me away. Although I really wanted the bbq chicken & bacon pizza, I was persuaded by my wife to share a Thai pizza, and I'm so glad I was. The only reason I was at all reluctant to try the Thai pizza in the first place was just because I thought that while it undoubtedly would taste like Thai food, I worried it wouldn't scratch the pizza itch; I worried it would taste too much like Thai food and not enough like pizza. I was wrong. It completely scratched the pizza itch. What was amazing about it was how simultaneously it totally tasted like Thai food and totally tasted like pizza. A lot of this is because of the crust, which is absolutely perfect: perfect flavor, perfect texture. My only regret is not living closer to South Lake Tahoe. I wish I could eat here once/week. Thankfully I am in the Bay Area, so I hope to eat visit Tahoe a few times a year and eat Base Camp every time.

The pizza is very well done here. I don't know about one of the top in the country/world, however. The pear salad was top notch. Good variety for meat and vegetarians. The wait -- go during lunch. When we asked on a Friday night, there were 150 people on the wait list ahead of us, so at least a 2+ hour wait. Definitely not worth that. Staff was friendly and efficient.

We went here for lunch on Christmas Eve. The wait was long, but there's lots to do nearby, and they text you when your turn comes up and you have about nine minutes to get back to the restaurant and claim your table. The service was friendly and competent, and the pizza - wow. The crust is crispy but not too thin, the (red) sauce just spicy enough, the cheese seemed fresh, and the toppings were wonderful and plentiful. I'll definitely return on my next trip to South Tahoe - it has replaced Fire and Ice as my go-to.

We fell in love with the fried pita bread used for the spinach dip, which was more cheese than spinach, but we didn't mind. Kept ordering more pita bread. The pizzas ordered were excellent and fully loaded with toppings.

Of course because of the pandemic we had to order online and take out. The price and quality of the pizzas we ordered was not too good. Hardly any chicken on our specialty pizza and it was burnt. Both crusts on our chicken specialty pizza and pepperoni pizza was too thin. I guess the pizza would be great if we were able to dine in, but will not order online to go pizza again from Base Camp.

Started the day going to Truckee for my wife’s birthday along with our best friend. Wanted to go for a hike but it did not work out. Wound up going to a South Shore and stopped at Heavenly Village just short of Stateline. Found this place and after about an hour wait we were treated to simply the best pizza I have had in a very long time. We each had a different pizza and our consensus was that all the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. A bonus for us was the live music by a guitarist and his female singing partner. They literally hit the ball out of the park with their music and singing. Everyone enjoyed their music especially my wife. Will definitely come back. By the way...... the pear and walnut salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing is very good.
