Great little cafe for divers and friends. Ask for the vegan peanut butter cake - so rich and yummy. Coffee is what you need after a dive

As a solo traveller and DIversity student, I found myself upstairs at Jenny's most days where I enjoyed great breakfasts ahead of scuba training, great sarnies (especially the BLT one) when I returned from scuba, ravenous and her wonderful passionfruit cake, as well as a tea and cold drinks. Jenny is usually there herself and really made my trip to Tofo fun, with advice, help and even inviting me to the pub quiz at Tofo Scuba. She knows everyone in town and her place is great place to chill, meet new people, take a nap, study for your scuba course and/or enjoy the sleepy pace and view of the centre of Tofo.

Food-amazing! Had an egg mayo sandwich and carrot cake. YUM. Ambience-not so good. I don’t know if the staff were just having a off day but the manager ?Jenny was shouting at them so loudly we could hear from the other side of the terrace. She was so rude to them we didn’t really know where to look. The lads who served us were very sweet and perfectly polite so I can’t imagine what they were doing so wrong to warrant such abuse, but we just felt awkward the whole time. Sadly didn’t return because of that, otherwise I would have loved to have eaten more of that cake!!

I spent a significant amount of my time at Jenny's cafe. I recommend the bacon buns and the maracuja (passionfruit) cake, can confirm they're delicious. Jenny has a great knowledge of tofo and will help solve any needs. Her staff are absolute heroes too - very polite, great cooks and provide great service.

It's our third visit in four years to Tofo and one of the main reasons is Jenny and the staff Upstairs! It's the best place to make friends and meet friends in the whole village. No matter what your question or problem, Jenny will have the answer or the solution. Good coffee and amazing cakes help to create a relaxing atmosphere and we dropped in every day without fail!(particularly for the coconut water) Thanks Jenny for making our stay so enjoyable. We will be back!☘

My mom and I visited Upstairs Cafe everyday of our stay in Tofo. Not only were the cakes delicious and the food super moreish, but the company and service were spectacular. Jenny bakes new cakes everyday and our highlights included her passionfruit cheese cake, salted chocolate brownies and her festive Easter hot-cross buns. The atmosphere is very welcoming and we found it was one of the coolest respites from the hot weather as it is upstairs and gets a cool breeze. Thank you Jenny and your team for making our Tofo trip that much better with your smily and happy welcome and your delicious cakes! See you again soon!

Upstairs Cafe is an oasis overlooking the less hectic side of the Tofo market with the main beach in the distance. It's also the domain of Jenny Flint whose baking talents are as fine as her knack for helping visitors find their way around or through little emergencies. Without overdoing it Jenny makes sure you meet whoever you're supposed to meet. The solitary traveler couldn't find a better hangout. Food-wise, her cheesecakes and chocolate concoctions are legend. Among the expats it's not a real birthday if Jenny doesn't do the cake. Try any of her gourmet sandwiches then pacify your sweet tooth with whatever's on special - look for peanut butter / choc fudge cupcakes / brownies as well as passionfruit and lemon zest cheesecake (my favorites). Btw I live in Tofo and spend quite of bit of time Upstairs. Its a very engaging place.

I love Upstairs as a place for indulging in homemade sweets (including vegan deserts), a great cup of coffee or sandwich. It's the most comfortable spot to hang out and hide from the sun with a cool breeze and cold beer. They play great music and the owner Jenny is simply an awesome person to hang out with while chilling out in the cafe. Definitely a must visit when in Tofo!!

So what started out as a breakfast - which was great - turned into the great cake sampling session! Breakfast is breakfast, pretty much everywhere. Bacon, eggs, toast, etc. At Upstairs though, they serve it with some of the nicest coffee in Tofo, if not Inhambane. And then you walk past the cakes and tarts and other yummies. And you have to have some... Well, luckily we were a nice group, so we ordered one of EVERYTHING and shared. It was all great. With another coffee to wash the sweetness down we were ready for the rest of the day, if a bit hyperactive due to the sugar rush and caffeine overdose ;)

I spent a few weeks diving in Tofo and ended up spending nearly every day at Upstairs. The food (especially the salads and cakes) and coffee were great as was the service with a view over Tofo village and sun lounges to sleep in the sun. If you dive with Diversity Scuba downstairs the wi-fi is free.

My wife and I stayed for two weeks and loved this little friendly roof top cafe. Service is friendly and prompt and they have specialty baked items nearly every day such as carrot cake and apple pie. Jenny the owner is also a great source for local restaurant tips. Highly recommended
