My girlfriend, family and I have been daily regulars at Cape To Cuba for over a year now, and supported almost every live music event… until last week when they increased the price of cocktails almost twice over. A margarita jumped from R81 to R145...in one day, along with other drinks and cocktails on the menu. As Kalk Bay locals who are always happy to support our local businesses, this price increase will prevent us ever returning or recommending Cape To Cuba to our Cape Town friends as this is now purely focused on tourism and not locals of Kalk Bay. We are sad to not be able to support local bands and music artists at this venture but these prices restrict this bar for local and regular customers. Very disappointing. I’ve included a photo of the previous menu for comparison.More

Great position, vibe, music, decor and cocktails. Service slow ……waiters seemed hesitant and inexperienced….food (pulled pork tortilla with chips and onion rings) was underwhelming, tasteless and with minimal pork….chips ok but onion rings super-oily……totally overpriced for the quality of the food. Would only ever go there...again for a cocktail and the lovely view of the bay and harbour.More

Overpriced. Service lacking. Food quality dismal. Drinks overpriced. Cocktails are more like mocktails. These guys are all about the money. Due to location the place is busy but I will not return

Great place for cocktails. Love the ambience and the revamp is great. Only gave 4 stars because the nachos were not corn and I am gluten intolerant. Please offer an option for those of us who cannot have flour.

Amazing restaurant. Beautiful atmosphere with a very creative and artistic setting. Extremely lovely food. Vegetarians well catered for. We tried the poppers, veg burger, nachos, and the bread and butter pudding. Meals are well prepared and presented. Service is excellent. Overlooks the beach.

Terrible service. Waiters were focusing on the big spenders and simply not interested. First time in years we've left no tip to express dissatisfaction

Quirky restaurant and bar in the quaint seaside town of Kalk Bay. Exciting menu and delicious food. A bit expensive, but excellent vibe.

The place just misses the mark with a few things. Firstly, it was rainy and cold but no heating of any sort provided, could be nice. Everything feels a bit old, maybe its part of the theme. The service took very long, 20 minutes to...get a drink, and almost an hour to get food after ordering. We had the brisket, and seafood pasta mains. The brisket was very tasty, the fries were nice and the coleslaw worked with everything. Unfortunately, part of the brisket was rock hard, and could not be eaten, sad because it was really nice. Seafood pasta was delicious and tasty, with good sized prawns and fresh ingredients. So, a mixed bag overall, the food was good and tasty, but a bit cold when served. The service was okay but not great. Just feels like it could be much better.More

All I can say is this place is absolutely AMAZING. We are on our honeymoon and Cape to Cuba was a place suggested we visit. And my husband and I are not disappointed at all. Fantastic staff. Delicious food. Great mocktails. We will definitely be...back. I have no idea where these previous bad reviews come from because we had a completely different experience. Keep up the amazing customer service.More

This was poor… to say the least. Waited over an hour for our food….only to be told they had run out of the option. Even the waiter was embarrassed - but seemed used to having to break bad news.. After choosing an alternative, the food...was was poor. Coleslaw was like a bowl of soup. Made our views clear ( while paying full charge despite the really poor experience) wile the manager all but ignored us and let the waiter take the flack. Avoid - on every level. The food in Cape Town is too good for this to exist.More

I have never written a bad review for a restaurant but this evening was awful. My friends and I went out for a birthday celebration. The waiters decided our table was too big to serve (7 people) even though we had a reservation and very...rudely, asked us to leave. During this whole interaction the male severs would only talk to the girls at the table and got upset when the men sitting at our table got up to join the conversation. We got up to leave, on our way out we got blocked and told- we had order something before we left because we had been sitting at the table for over 20 minutes. We told them we would only stay if we could order our food and actually do what we came to do, very disgruntled they said we could. We ordered our food, which took over an hour and a half to come. Drinks would take over 45 minutes to arrive. When we got the bill, we decided to leave a 10% tip which amounted to R250 even though the service was terrible and the staff asked why we weren’t leaving 15%. There was no appreciation or anything. I will never be going back.More

You know what makes a freshly renovated and newly trendy place uncool very quickly? No working toilets. Seriously? R100 cocktails and nowhere to pee???
