We have been dining at Harbour House for last 20 years and have many special memories of meals there, but Saturday night 27 Feb 2021 was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Booked on Dine Plan for the lower area by the window...and my selection was confirmed with the reservation. On arrival we waited at entrance some time to be seated (there was no-one at the door for some minutes) and taken to the upper section in the middle of the room. When I questioned the Hostess that this is not my reservation, she told me that Dine Plan bookings don't reflect the real seats. I was not offered any other seat or told that once window seat frees up we could move. Her attitude was take it or leave it. The restaurant was busy but it took over 15 minutes to place a drinks order, and get the tasting menu that I asked 3 different people to bring. We were served during the course of the evening by at least 4 people and no one seemed to be responsible for our table. The service felt chaotic and the waitrons could not answer our questions about the menu - we had to google what jackfruit was. 3 separate dishes were served without cutlery and in each case we had to wait some time to get someone's attention to bring cutlery, so our food got cold. My wife was served the wrong dish twice (not what she had ordered), and the waiting staff in each case rushed backwards and forwards to the kitchen with the relevant dish slopping around. We've always so enjoyed the food at Harbour House but the tasting menu was disappointing. The jackfruit rillette was extremely salty, the caramelle en brodo broth was pure chilli and killed all flavour. We noticed that two separate tables sat down and 10 minutes later left, presumably because they hadn't yet been served. The used table cloths were all dumped next to the bar, so we decided not to have a drink there after the meal. There was no way to dry your hands in the ladies' toilet - no towels and the electric drier wasn't working. If this was your first experience of going to Harbour House, you definitely would not go back. The whole experience felt like a slightly down-at-heel restaurant with chaotic service. This is supposed to be a signature brand, and a fine dining establishment, and we were looking forward to a special evening. We always celebrate our anniversary at Harbour House, having enjoyed our first date there many years ago. Sadly it did not feel like a special evening or a special restaurant.
I don't review things but thought that Harbour House needed to know what happened so they can ensure does not happen again. I sent this review to Dineplan and Harbour House last week and still no response. This is unacceptable hence sharing on public forum as if Harbour house not bothered to acknowledge and address their short comings, why bother going there!More
