I went for dinner on Saturday night with a friend. Everything from food, wine and service was spectacular. Sushi was fresh and melted in your mouth. We shared a platter with prawns, scallops and king clip. Everything cooked to perfection. Evening overall was lovely.

I first visited this restaurant 9 years ago and this year I came back for my 40th birthday. It was still as amazing as it was back then. You pick items of shell fish or fresh fish and they then simply grill it. It Is...then served in a large platter with rice, vegetables And potatoes. A truly amazing meal served by amazing staff in an amazing atmosphere.More

We had an excellent meal with a sharing platter for four of us where we chose prawns, crayfish, butter fish, scallops. Tuna and another. All super fresh and perfectly cooked. The waiter was very passionate and full of beans. The only downside was the noise....We had to shout to be heard. A bit pricey but really worth it.More

This is a great restaurant with fabulous fish. We were only in Camp Bay a couple of days, but this was so good we went twice. The fish was amazing, fresh, beautifully cooked and great value (we are from the UK). Book to avoid disappointment.

Located in Camps Bay, The Cod Father is an unusual place with exceptionally fresh fish. Oddly there’s no menu. No starters. Just walk over to the fish selection with your waiter and they will grill your choices for you. Great selection of fresh seafood. I...had crayfish, scallops and sardines. They arrived at the table nicely grilled served with rice and chips. The crayfish was excellent, as was the sardine. Scallops were nicely cooked but not much taste. Busy cheerful spot with good service. I would prefer a bit more traditional format (menu, starters, drinks menu, coffee) but the freshness and variety of seafood make it worthwhile.More

Based a recommendation for good sushi and fish we went. The place is good for those with excellent hearing as it is very noisy. The Sushi bar is a rotating rail with various dished on it. The issue is the chef doing the descriptions is...not really providing full information plus it is a ling delay for items to come around. We had cold edamame, Fried prawn with mayo which my wife doe not eat. The fish selection is good and you can pock and choose the amount and type of seafood that you want. However we did not get apprised of the oysters that were available. Service www very good.More

We went for lunch as a family of 3 in April, on the recommendation of friends that had visited a few years ago. So glad we went, this is a seafood lovers dream. My daughter loves sushi and went over to the conveyor to pick...what she wanted. We were then talked through the seafood on offer at the counter and advised on price, based on weight. It was all brought up in a large pan with rice, potatoes and green vegetables. All washed down with a delicious bottle of white wine. Good value too, we would definitely return if we are in the area.More

This is probably the best „fast food“ restaurant in the world. After you order your drinks, your server will take you to a fish bar, where the whole wonderful display is being described to you. You simply select whatever you want to eat, it’s then...being weighed (price per kilo) and off you go back to your table. Rest assured and given the high number of people who want to eat there (reservation required - your allowance at the table is 1.5 h max ), your food will arrive in record time. Perfectly cooked and with sides of your choice. The fish however is the main event on the table and boy was it good! Very relaxed atmosphere and extremely busy. Be prepared.More

There are no menus or price list. We collected three dishes from the sushi bar that was good. We selected two pieces of fish and calamari. Ordered a 256 rand bottle of Sauvignon blank. The meal was bland with cabbage chips and rice. Complained and...received a desert and the coat was 1315 rand which was one of the Most expensive meals we have had is South Africa.load of people in the restaurant so maybe other people like the taste and have deep pockets!! .More

A “Wow” Experience! From the outside this place looks unremarkable but inside it’s a bustling and vibrant environment offering some of the best seafood you will ever experience. Definitely recommended if you are visiting Camps Bay. Book in advance.

Unfortunately, this outing fell well below expectations. Nothing of our experience matched the glowing reviews this restaurant seems to consistently get. We found the food uninspired (everything was grilled, rice AND chips as "free" sides and soggy vegetables packed under the other food), overpriced (ZAR...3500 for 2 people, no drinks, no dessert. The prices are not visibly displayed, so you have no knowledge of the cost unless you actively ask for this information), the service completely unattentive (after taking us to select our food the waiter never once came back unless called over, never offered us drinks, etc.), the ambiance was like a factory assembly line, rushed, hot and noisy. We have been in Cape Town for over a month, eating out daily and this is the most overpriced and disappointing experience we've had. Don't waste your money here when there are so many, better options!More

Amazing experience with the best fresh seafood. A recommendation that we were glad to experience. No menus- you follow your server to the counter and choose your meal of seafood, fish, and/or sushi. You select the portion size of fish, seafood selection and it is...prepared and brought to your table. An incredible seafood experience and my first choice for seafood in Cape Town’s Camps Bay.More

Fantastic meal and opportunity to try a variety of fish. Had a taster of sushi, 6 oysters and a selection of fish from the counter. The staff explain the different fish and the kitchen grill up the fish to perfection and serve with a choice...of rice, veg or chips. Great if you want to explore different food. Really attentive staff and a real buzz in the restaurant. Would love to return.More

My mom and I came here on our trip to South Africa after our taxi driver and the hotel both recommended it to us. It's a unique experience where you pick your fish from a case and then brought to your table. There's also a...rotating sushi bar to choose from. The food was excellent and it was a great, unique experience. Our server was wonderful as well. I did notice that there were mostly other tourists there, so it might not be the most local experience. But it was excellent and somewhere I would return to!More
