A little gem of a place, just around the corner from our home.....nestled gently in a neighboring suburb is the where you’ll find Pakwaan! Appreciated the hearty welcome, friendly service, hands on owner and the ease of being able to WhatsApp when I need to...book a table! Delish food...have tried Methi Malai, Butter chicken curry and chicken Korma. An added bonus.....is being able to use the Entertainer app! If you enjoy a good curry....go to this gem.More

A proper authentic Indian restaurant. Wow. Wow. Wow. The flavours in the meals are absolutely mind blowing! We had the lamb lababdar and the aloo gobhi. It was really so flavoursome. No complaints whatsoever. The portion sizes are just perfect. Not too rich and just...pure brilliance. I’ll keep coming back for sure!More

We decided to try this new place in our area and it was a lovely night out. The choices of "breads" was interesting and the flavours wonderful. Only recommendation is don't order "mild" too boring. The chicken done in the tandoor first was the best....The tasty seeds at the end of our meal were super and interesting.More

my wife and myself frequently order curry takeway from Pakwaan and we are never disappointed. The tastes of the curry are authentic Indian and the curry heat is always as requested - mild is perfect for those who cannot tolerate chilli, medium gives you that...slight chilli, medium hot is a lovely burn, will try hot one day LOL True value for money especially when there are surprise specials.More

Cape Town is truly an International City and becoming an extremely popular tourist destination. There is a fairly large third generation Indian Community an an ever growing Diaspora. We should boast a wide variety of good Indian restaurants, but alas this is not the case....So when a new one pops up and it is good, then that's a pleasant surprise. This is an authentic North Indian restaurant and as the name suggests 'Pakwaan' roughly translated as Royal Cuisine. The restaurant is open just over 3 months and seats 32 pax. It is intimate and has plenty of convenient parking. The owner, Anika Sharma, is knowledgeable and an excellent host. She makes a special effort to ensure that you are comfortable and enjoying the experience. This is also a great function venue if you hosting a party for about 30 guests. We attended a party of a dear cousin who booked the entire restaurant. Service was efficient and discreet. We were served a selection of 3 veg starters - Punjabi Potato & Pea samoosas. The pastry melts in your mouth and no sign of oil. There was also a Tandoori Paneer Tikka and a Tandoori Hara Bhara veg kabaab which was very tasty. I would recommend the Chicken Pahadi Kabaab - juicy and succulent with delicate spicing. I found the lamb seekh kabaab a little on the dry side however Anika replaced the Kabaabs with a fresh batch - an attentive hostess. The curries are light and delicately spiced and the meats cooked to perfection. The breads were fresh and not chewy. The Dal Makhani was rich & creamy however it lacked that the smokiness that is a signature of the Dal Makhani that is not easily replicated at home. My understanding is that the gentle smoked flavour emanates from cooking the Dal on the tandoor overnight from the residual heat. I just hope that these standards are maintained as we desperately need more of these owner run restaurants from people who have passion for what they serve. I will certainly come back.More

Since my first visit, I can not stay away from their sublime food, very friendly staff and excellent service! You can choose mild, medium or spicy according to your taste. We have tried quite a few items from the menu, and can't seem to come...across any item that is anything less than mouth-wateringly delicious! The amazing decor in the restaurant also truly adds to the authentic Northern Indian experience. Do yourself a favor and try out this new local gem!More
