About
A modern dining space with a sleek open-plan kitchen overlooking the Constantia wine valleys, Beau Constantia offers a casual fine-dining experience. Chef Ivor Jones offers up his unique perspective on the classic Chefs Warehouse dining, which is a mix between a traditional tasting menu and a small sharing plates experience of contemporary dishes. Our produce is local, partly grown on the farm, and is always seasonally driven. We work in collaboration with ethical producers like Soil for Life, Meuse farm and Abalobi to get the best ingredients and to discover and cook with lesser-known ingredients in new ways.

I am surprised that the restaurant does not have a Michelin star. The setting is wonderful with fabulous views, the service is charming and the food is superb. The menu is described as tapas, but this is really a tasting menu in disguise. This is excellent food, beautifully crafted and well presented. We had the main menu for two and a vegetarian menu which were all excellent. Given the location and the quality of the food I could not help but question why this restaurant is not more widely known. One of its quirks is the blue with a view up the stairs from the restaurant which is well worth a visit. And as for value, it really is amazing. At approximately £30 per head for the menu, this has to be the best value in town.

We had the starter and the tapas/tasting menu. Some early fish dishes in Thai or Japanese inspired style were fresh and inspiring, but the rest of the menu was fairly pedestrian for the pricey, multi-portion style haute cuisine. We enjoyed the dinner, but would not return for the food alone.

We'd visited Beau Constantia many times before for the fabulous wine, modern architecture and amazing setting but this was our first visit to Chef's Warehouse and it wont be our last. Everything about it was magnificent. We booked in advance. At first none of the days we wanted were available but after contacting the restaurant and explaining that we were visiting from Scotland they managed to fit us in. I'm so glad we had the chance to enjoy the great tapas menu in such amazing surroundings. It's a very special but relaxed place. The kitchen is on show from the dining area and it's great watching what's going on with the food preparations, if 6iu can be distracted from the amazing view of all the vineyards beyond. Look forward to returning next time I'm in Capetown- unfortunately though that won't be for another year.

We did not have a dinner reservation for one of our nights in Cape Town. Our concierge at our hotel called a few places and they were all booked. He finally called Chef's Warehouse to see how busy it was, and we made our way there as the person on the phone said they were not too busy. I had heard of Chef's Warehouse, but I personally like having a reservation somewhere, so I didn't think we would ever get in. Don't let that deter you away from dining at this establishment. We walked right in and had a bottle of wine and the set menu. We truly enjoyed it, and the chef was from Thali, and the dishes were a bit asian inspired. We loved each course we had, and would recommend to anyone. I will say it can totally depend on what chef you have, but we had a lovely experience.

We travel extensively on business, across the world, so had to make a reservation well in advance to coincide with our next home stay back in Hout Bay. So well worth the wait! And the anticipation. The warehouse of chefs at their trade preparing the most delightful array of the menu was a visual delight. The chefs all impeccably attired in their white outfits going about their presentations. Because that is what they are! Each dish is a visual presentation . The service, menu, location - breathless! We will be back.

We booked here for lunch - booking is essential as its a very popular place in a spectacular setting overlooking the vineyard. The restaurant is relatively new, with clean Scandinavian style decor. The menu is a tapas style three "course" tasting menu with optional desserts at the end. However, we didn't have room so just opted for coffee. The food is of the highest quality and combines unusual flavours with a strong nod to far east cuisine. The service was impeccable. This is an ideal venue for a special occasion / romantic meal. If you're from overseas it also represents outstanding value for money at the current exchange rate!

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful evening at Chefs Warehouse for our "date night" The staff are lovely, so friendly and welcoming and the food... WOW! An absolute taste sensation with every bite. We had the Tapas for 2. Beautiful food and outstanding presentation. My favorite was definitely the Parmesan Risotto, one of the best dishes I have tasted in my life. Their dessert platter for 2 was so delicious and we finished off with a non alcoholic coconut and litchi cocktail. Well done to your increadibly talented chefs and amazing team of staff.

My wife booked a lunchtime tapas menu treat for me and a friend. The setting is stunning with fabulous views over the vineyards. The staff were very attentive. The meal however was nothing special, in fact 3 of the dishes were positively bad. The risotto was swimming in oil and very stodgy. The tartar beef was ruined by the waitress pouring a whole jug of oil dressing all over the dish, when I queried she said the chef told her to do it that way, sorry chef let me put my own dressing on in future. The slowed cooked breast of lamb (cooked sous vide) needed far more cooking, it was fatty and very chewy. Sorry for the money it was below standard, wont rush back.

Many of my friends recommended this place and a visit for lunch was required. Good service, very tasty food, good wine recommendations and a fantastic view was the result. Definitely worth a trip.

When I made the phone booking for three of us, I was not told that platings were made for two people to share - at R 700.00 per person. Would not have gone if I had been advised of this. I was told when we took our seats that I would have to order for four, or we would have to share for two portions. Most unsatisfactory. Having driven so far, decided to bite the bullet, and ordered for four. The restaurant is a beautiful modern design. Very light and airy, with lovely views. Service was efficient, but without any enthusiasm or interest in spontaneously describing the dishes as they were presented. All a great shame, as the food was delicious and well worthy of five stars. In future I'll stick with the Bree Street branch.

The creativity of the menu offered in small plates is just sensational. You get to enjoy 8 plates of food, broken down into 3 servings which generally include fish, sashimi, risotto, beef & pork. It is awesome to watch the team of over 10 chefs working with great passion in the open kitchen. The service is absolutely TOP NOTCH and you never have to even look for your waiter! The views over the Constantia Valley with its vineyards and manor houses is simply sublime.

We went to this magnificent place during the Festive Season. The atmosphere, the view is already unbeatable. But the food: was beyond our expectations. We had the pescatarian menu and we were blown away by the taste, the composition and the presentation. And the cherry on top was the perfect service of KIRSTY! Thanks so much for being just perfect, super friendly and highly professional. Chefs Warehouse is blessed to have you.

WOW. Its hard to describe such an incredible place, for so many reasons. The setting is quite majestic, magnificent actually, nestled in the beautiful Constantia valley surrounded by Mother Nature at her absolute best. The food was amazing, flavours and textures so beautifully combined to produce one of the most memorable dinners i have ever experienced. The service was so seamlessly efficient, yet unobtrusive. The dessert was almost too beautiful to eat, a gastronomic work of art. I would highly recommend you make this restaurant a must visit. Fabulous

The restaurant is very popular, needing booking weeks in advance, so our experience must be unusual, but we were most disappointed. The menu is 4 courses, with a choice of 2 items per course. Between us we had 6 different courses in all. One I found inedible, 4 were alright but wouldn’t order again, and one was very nice. 4 of the courses featured heavily smoked elements: we’re not great fans of smoked tastes at the best of times, and these were very strongly smoked. Featuring smoked elements in the majority of courses was overdoing it and led to too much sameness of flavours over the meal. Generally, spicing was too strong for our taste, and one course, and the Bon Bon’s at the end, were overpowered by lemon grass. We wished we hadn’t eaten. The setting is beautiful, and the service very attentive, though the runners should be told not to stretch over one diner to clear another diner’s place.

Perhaps few have told the Chef Emperor that he's Buck Naked. Apart from some delicious oysters (an extra to start) and the creme brûlée variant I ended with. I prefer not to be instructed in how to eat my meal nor in what order . - For me 'killer views" do not make a restaurant nor does a kitchen brigade rise to greatness when it believes it has the right to force its customer into what to eat and in in what order. Perhaps we should have investigated further before simply accepting a third party suggestion the we should book a table.
