We took one of the "make your own" bowls to go, and the result was terrible. Without any exaggeration 90% of the thing was bare, blunt noodles and a few toppings on top (5 thin slices of tofu, 6 slices of cucumber and 3 pieces...of avocado, yes I counted them). The bowls that this place has for customers "to display" seem to be a big lie. The service left a lot to hope for too, I don't think I have ever been greeted so unwillingly in Cape Town before. I don't know if this applies to every customer, since the man after me seemed to get much better service and even a smile, which was not granted for me. It wasn't busy at all, so that's not even the excuse in this case. I must say this was the worst experience I've had in Cape Town, both food and service-wise.More

It took my a while to find this - every time I asked one of the other establishments, they did not know what I was referring to. I was just about to give up and try one of the other pop-up stalls, when I stumbled...on Lua Street Food. I was SO HAPPY. Having lived in Hanoi before, I miss all the food there, but especially the fresh spring rolls. I was thus delighted to find Lua sells these, and even better, the dip that goes along with it is tasty and authentic. I will definitely come back when I am in Cape Town again.More

Sorry. The food was good. But the place is HORRIBLY understaffed. I waited 20 mins standing and ended up walking away because I couldn’t even talk to anyone. They put a piece of salmon in our Vegan wrap. WTF?! Mindlessness. Seems like the owners don’t...care. And the workers’ work ethics are being compromised by how understaffed they are. Places like this really piss me off.More

I simply loooove Vietnamese food, especially those amazing fresh, crisp, healthy, NOT fried spring rolls, and have always been puzzled since I moved to Cape Town from Paris a decade ago (where you get these spring rolls on every corner of the street almost..) WHY...oh WHY we have so few Vietnamese restaurants here?? There's Saigon in Kloof Street of course, and there's a Vietnamese bakery that opened in Somerset West that does these spring rolls, but apart from that I can't think of any other place?? Anyway, it was worth the detour to get my fix recently, I just ordered the 'classic' shrimp/salad/mint spring rolls but with a nice twist to it by adding mango and avo. i will definitely come back whenever I need to be at the Waterfront. This food market with its many stalls/pop-up restaurants has a nice vibe overall, and it allows people with different taste buds to each find something they like, from steak rolls to burgers to pizza to...Vietnamese spring rolls, and still eat together. I found that the watermelon/mint fresh juice from the neighbours of Lua was the perfect accompaniment for my spring rolls!More
