About
It's great to be back! Thank you for your ongoing support over the last year. A few things to consider before you visit: Booking is not essential, though we would recommend you book in advance. Please note we may need to vary our opening hours and food service times given the time of year and the unpredictable nature of our Great British weather! To get the most up-to-date notices on our re-opening, keep an eye on our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you soon!

9 of us were welcomed, well fed and watered by friendly staff. The food was great for the price. There was a good band on at 9 o clock 👍 and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Extremely friendly locals and helpful bar staff made this somewhere I'd like to return to. The ale was good, and the food fine (though unexciting and the main was a small portion relative to what you get at comparable nearby pubs). Being dog friendly and...having a reasonable amount of parking were bonuses...More

Had a lovely pork Sunday Dinner at Y Gwachel (Pontardawe Inn) today. Lovely hand carved meat - not the horrible pre-processed thin slices, great roasties and proper meat juice gravy. Great atmosphere and attentive staff - really enjoyed!

Shocking service. Slow doesn’t even cover it, actually painful waiting for drinks ……then food …. Oh my god 45min before we even got to order and then I think I lost the will to live waiting for it Sullen staff would kill one in particular...to smile Quick off the mark for payment tho Plenty of other pubs in the area who are much better I would suggest you try one of themMore

Some of the worst food i have ever eaten in all my life. There beef burgers were barely defrosted cost co patties. You could of found higher quality at a McDs drive through. The only thing i can rate are the lovely workers who put...in their level best to run this pub.More

Had food and drinks outdoors. Food was nice and tasty, there were a good selection of drinks to choose from as well. Service was great, from getting there and being advised what was what to having table service so didn't have to worry about moving...around. Felt safe with all the guidelines in place. When we asked for a bowl of water for the 2 dogs we had with us it was no issue at all and we were also asked if they needed any more when we ordered more drinks. Will happily be going again. Thank you.More

The Pontardawe Inn is a great british pub with excellent selection of beers, gins, wines, and great food. We have visited many times as a couple and family there's always a great atmosphere. Pre-Covid there's always a great selection of live music and during the...pandemic they have tried really hard and it shows. Lovely outside beer garden with plenty of tables and even undercover options if the weather changes. You couldn't find a better gem of a pub.More

So great to be back in the Gwachel after so many months. Steve and Sharon run a lovely, friendly and family pub and give a great welcome to all. With the current restrictions, they manage to ensure everyone feels safe and appreciated. The Covid precautions...can mean a bit of a delay from "normal" sometimes, but that is to be expected and is never a problem. Well done to Steve, Sharon and the staff. Totally Recommend the place!!!More

We are a dog friendly pub, all we ask is that they are kept on a lead. If we have loud live music on we would ask that you keep the dogs to the heated outdoor areas.
