We visited the blue moon restuarant for breakfasts in the morning while we stayed at the blue moon guest house. The breakfasts we hearty and tasted delicious, was a great start to each day. Owner is very knowledgeable about the area and very accommodating

We had Sunday morning breakfast at this establishment.
Well organized. Friendly staff. Covid 19 regulations strictly adhere to. Food was served hot with a FULL PLATE. Children friendly. We will be back for more......

We were enticed to the restaurant by the scent of spices as Jannie was cooking bobotie. They weren't open on the monday evening, so we went back on the Tuesday. The bobotie was delicious. My friend had the Lamb curry - which could have done with more spices.
Pancake with icecream was the dessert choice and were possibly the best pancakes ever eaten.
Recommended . Just check opening and closing hours and days.

What a disappointment! Was handed, what looked like an extended menu, but only about five items were available! Could not believe it. Nothing wrong when a restaurant has only two or three dishes available but then the staff should tell the patrons so. The two staff members were friendly but so out of their comfort zone...a little bit of hospitality training will do them the worlds good. They are eager to learn and trying and willing to provide a good service. The owner showed no interest in what is going on in his restaurant. The ambiance very cold and unfriendly.

Authentic South African home cooking. The lamb tails were a little bland and watery but the lamb curry was definitely worth it, and the chocolate dessert too. The lighting is a bit too bright but the playlist makes up for it and the atmosphere is pleasant. It definitely reminded me of family meals on my grandparents' farm.

On a cold Saturday night that we wanted to order Karoo chops take aways, we were showed away by two other places - one had a function and one didn't do take aways. This place was our last hope and they provided the BEST Karoo chops I have ever eaten - at a great price! Will always return when in Sutherland.

Average breakfast , bad apple juice, tasty omlette with no garnish or bread on the side. Good service but looking onto the open door of the toilet and storeroom from our table not so nice. Mixed media and decorations spoiled the atmosphere of this old Karoo house

Two couples passing through Sutherland decided to visit Blue Moon Restaurant. We were so pleasantly surprised by cozy atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. Jannie is an excellent host with a fabulous selection of music. Julio was a super waiter. Thank you. Peter, Dorothy, John and Angie.

We booked a table the day before and checked that their lamb curry would be available. We were assured it would be. We double checked on the day. We arrived that evening to find no table reserved and no lamb curry. What would have been a special anniversary dinner turned into a very disappointing evening. We won't be back in a hurry.

Great service and delicious hot food on a cold evening in Sutherland. I had the lamb bobotie, my husband the oxtail and our son the lamb tails. The rugs were a nice touch for keeping my legs warm. One of the staff, Annie, gave me a woollen scarf and thick gloves for our visit to the observatory. An act of kindness that I won't forget.

We had such an incredible evening at the Blue Moon. Great service, delicious food! We were there on the coldest night (-6) and they had blankets to keep us warm. Such a wholesome, home family feel to it and definitely the best bobotie we’ve had in years!
