A good place to eat in the evening (and for breakfast). Varied menu with local fish and seafood. Service is very good and the prices are reasonable by Mozambiquan standards.

So we decided to venture out and make the long drive to Bilene one sunday morning. We had heard such raving about the place we just had to check it out, so we drove the 2 1/2 - 3 hours to there. The trip would have been faster if there was not so much construction and the speed limit wasn't set to 40kms at some spots. Beware of the cops cause they know this is a popular spot for natives and visitors so watch the speed limits especially when you are coming into a town. The drive was still a nice and easy one since it was a straight shot for the most part. We made the right off of N1 and followed that till we got to a roundabout and at the 3rd exit you will see the hotel "Hotel Bilene" and right on it's right is the restaurant. We had driven past it on our way to the beach and made a mental note to stop there for lunch since it looked pretty nice. On our way back we stopped and was seated at a clean and nice table. They gave us menus which was completely in portuguese but thanks to Google Translate we were able to figure it out. They said they could do something nice for the kids such as chicken strips and we ordered their chicken dish, the only chicken dish on there, praying silently that the food would be good since the waiters english was not so good. But boy oh boy were we pleasantly surprised. The food came out and I am telling you I thought we were at a 5 star restaurant. But wait, first we were given a small hors d'oeuvres which was complimentary and was very nice, then our meals late came out. The food was excellent! Everything tasted lovely. I will make sure to post pictures if this listing is approved. We didn't get a dessert after because we were so stuffed but we were so impressed. We were the only people in the restaurant so we were well cared for by the staff whose manager came out to check on us. And the most amazing thing to me is that the cost of the meal was at least 600 Meticais cheaper than the 2 pizzas and burger we had ordered from Mimmos the night before. Amazing! The bathroom and bar area where also nicely decorated and clean. Will definitely be heading back there if we ever visit again, and will tell others about it.

He rooms are big but feel empty! There is a big size fridge but nothing else, no self catering utensils! I won't stay in this hotel again! It has no sea/lake views of the beautiful Bilene and there are noisy cars! We requested to change a room in the middle of the night because there was a car right below our window playing music on full blast! The pillows were the hardest rocks we ended up sleeping on folded towels to avoid stiff necks in the morning! We ordered a snack in the evening and it was so greasy it was dripping oil! The hotel staff struggle with English!
