Judging by the locality of this cafe I thought we may have had a chance of some fresh fish but as you can see from the picture the cod was of the mass produced frozen variety. The chips were so dry but we managed to...get our hands on a packet of mayonaise for an extra 25 cents which made them at least edible!More
Excellent, small self-service restaurant specializing in fried fish and seafood with very good, very eclectic music and a great view of the port of Castro. The location is fantastic and the number of tables, all of them outdoors, is limited so it has a very...relaxed and laid back atmosphere. The frittura (fried fish and seafood) is perfect — crisp, light and incredibly fresh— I think the best I’ve ever eaten ! The owners are very sociable and easy going and have now opened a second, more upscale, but equally delicious restaurant, the Baronale Museum Café in Vaste, about 6 kilometers from Castro. Not to be missed!More
We went here only because we had walked to the marina to check out boats.
What a great find!
We shared an order of deep fried breaded shrimp and another of breaded deep fried veggies, washing it down with bottled beer.
Both orders were delicious...in the way that only happens when the food is very fresh and it is done & served quickly.
Loved our fair-value, casual meal here and the million dollar view!More
We ate here because it was one of the few restaurants open in the area in mid March. The restaurant is clean and staff courteous. We may have ordered the wrong thing. We shared a Pulpette - deep fried ground octopus with rice, frittura mista...- fried seafood (uncleaned shrimp and calamari) and salmon and shrimp lasagna. The lasagna was tasty but overcooked and the other dishes were just ok.More
If you enjoy your plate of fried shrimps or calamari ... or both this is the place to go in Castro. If you are looking for something different to your traditional italian dinner and want to enjoy a simple and quick meal of fresh seafood...this is the place to go. We had the fried shrimps and calamari with a local beer on our first evening in Castro and even if we had a number of good meals during our 10 days in Castro ... the calamari e gamberi fritti at the simple fast food place by the harbour is the one we will remeber !More
