Family meal in a family-run restaurant

The food is amazing! Home cooked, really special, large portions, flexible with menu. Staff so friendly and accommodating, Had a customised gift of fruit and Raiki last night - mixed fruits in cocktail glasses with the local spirit (optional). We all loved this restaurant and dined here three times during our 2 week stay.

We went twice to this restaurant we have been to this place in the past. We had chicken souvlaki each, and drinks complimentary dessert of Melon and Raki reasonable price for all. A few days later we went for lunch we ordered Cretan pies, which were made with cheese and spinach,Zucchini fritters and Lamb patties all tasty. There was some work being carried out across the street was ok at the time but it could be noisy I’m sure at times! My wife and myself enjoyed our food but thinking it used to be better in the past.

If you are looking for something that would seem like you are eating at a traditional farmhouse, this is your place to visit!! To start we had the Saganaki and 4 cheese in the oven, this was cheese paradise! It also has tomatoes, red pepper and potatoes, something slightly different from the usual they serve everywhere else. For main was the lemon pork and this really felt like a farmhouse meal. Was really tasty and a huge portion!! Was so full, there was no room for dessert, but of course the generosity continued with the complementary raki and fresh fruit. Very friendly service and the food was prompt!!

Horrible service and not vegetarian friendly

Such a disappointing experience. I asked if they could make a vegetarian version of their meze, to which they said “of course”. When the meze arrived, the plate was put in front of me with no explanation as to what the different elements were. I had to asked what I was about to eat. I was talked through the different elements, which mainly consisted of fried items that were very greasy, before I dug in. The first item I cut into was very cheesy and it looked really promising, until I saw the ham. They had included ham and cheese croquettes on a vegetarian meze platter. When I brought this to the attention of one of the servers, they were very indifferent towards the issue, and looked to me for a reaction. I asked for a new platter, as the one I had been given included meat. They brought the same platter back a few minutes later minus the croquettes. Throughout our whole experience, we were served by 4-6 different servers, and not one server managed to offer a smile or even an apology when they served meat to a vegetarian. When we paid, we paid the full price, before we ourselves had to bring up the fact that serving meat to a vegetarian is absolutely NOT acceptable, before the manage said “oh yes sorry, they always forget the croquettes have meat” which is neither very promising nor alright. The fact that we did not get an apology before we brought the issue up, adds insult to injury. Farmers used to be a cosy place run by family, now it’s just another restaurant run by people that have no idea what good customer service means. Stay away.

It was ok not wonderful ok. Pretty standard menu the usual Greek food offerings. We had the gyros and while it was perfectly edible I never felt the desire to go back. Having said that the restaurant was busy and the setting is nice mainly outdoor and the service although being busy was fine. As I said we didn’t go back but if we were in the area again we probably would.

Cozy family friendly restaurant with authentic excellent Greek food

After a couple of year not being able to travel to Greece, we suddenly made it this time. Missing the excellent vibes and family hospitality of this restaurant, we tried it if it still has the reputation as when we left last 2019. Amazingly enough, no one lost the touch of entertaining and welcoming the guests to serving the delicious Greek cuisine. If you are looking for a great casserole dish, then this is the place.

A disappointing visit

We last visited this area in 2019 & had been our favourite restaurant to visit. I realize staff members leave but tonight my husband ordered my favourite tipple vodka and tonic. But tonight my drink tasted strange we complained twice before the drink was replaced it turned out the tonic was flat. I expect if I complain that it should be replaced immediately at nearly €7 per drink. The meal was ok nothing special. We won't be returning

Bad experience.was at the restaurant many times until 2020 where it was really good and so again this time... The food was sluggish and not ⁇ good or well prepared. Service upon ordering was all too cumbersome and would sell extra even if we refused. When we first ordered - it was clear that the focus was on getting more guests into the restaurant and not on serving those who were already there. In addition, it is far too expensive ratio to quality... we almost designate it as dressing. We're not coming back.

We visited here twice during our stay, once for breakfast and again another evening. Both times we left feeling happy with our lot. The service was pleasant and attentive and there were certainly no complaints about the standard of food on offer. All in all I would recommend this establishment. Well priced too.

Horrible in every category. The food was expensive and didn’t taste anything and was just flat out bad. The service was terrible , the waiter was way too pushy and almost forced us to take the 25€ tuna and was generally unfriendly. And I don’t think I need to talk about the ambience and the environment as it wasn’t any better. Plus real expensive compared to other similar restaurants It’s hard to find a place in Chania that isn’t a tourist trap and this is a prime example. D.S.S

This place was always so welcoming and pleasant to visit. Fast and attentive staff is here for your needs. The menu is rich with any dishes for your taste, from greek cuisine, such as souvlaki, salads with feta, local fish to something common like soups, pizza and pasta. All the meals are great in taste and fresh. Sometimes it is better to order partially. For instance, the greek salad is a giant plate that can be too much for one and it would be wise to take it for 2. The example is on the photo. You can take away the rest of food in a box they will hive you if you ask. What would I recommend to try? Well, we are in Greece, so try something local: Greek salad, Creetan Salad, the fish of the day, lamb meat with tomatoes (I forgot its name, sorry). Also, they serve nice selection of drink, including cooled beer in iced glasses. Loved it. There are many places to sit, so it would be great for singles and a group of friends. They have greek music here, so the atmosphere is fine. At the end, they bring raki wifh some fruits in the evening. Be careful, this thing is strong :)

Worst service in our lives, one waiter ruins it all.

This taverna was opposite our hotel entrance (2 metre walk) and seemed a good choice after a long day trip. We were seated and the atmosphere seemed nice with the warm, friendly host and signs everywhere stating that it was a meeting place for friends and family. Throughout the evening meal, we enjoyed our main meals, sides and drinks. We had no complaints on the food. Despite being visibly busy, we encountered friendly waiting staff so we overlooked some service errors such as not bringing us bread we had ordered, and leaving us to eat without any cutlery. We were still having a nice time so didn’t think these were big issues. There was one waiter in particular who was rude when we tried to get his attention, giving a curt response for coming over in a minute. We let this go for the reasons above. When we wanted to pay for our meal, we were splitting the bill as a group of 4. This had caused us no issues anywhere else we had been but seemed to send this waiter (who was most often kept behind the till, we now see why) into a blind rage. He had a set idea in his mind of how he wanted us to pay, pocketing the cash immediately and then insisting that the rest of the amount was split into equal amounts on 2 cards. We politely and calmly asked multiple times to pay on the cards first, then cash second as our friends were expecting change from their cash. To this he did the following: refused and said NO, slamming his calculator down on the desk and slamming his hand down onto it to point at the amount he wanted us to pay, throwing his hands in the air and shouting “this is unbelievable!” And then again rudely shouting at us “get your friends over here.” The taverna owner stood behind us and said one thing to him in Greek but then did not intervene and take over (she had understood that we wanted to split the bill and even brought us a menu to figure out prices). For a ‘family run’ place, we had never seen such horrific and disrespectful service anywhere in our lives. Not just in Chania, Crete or Greece. Everywhere else we ate over our week holiday received 5 star reviews from us. For this place we refused to walk 2 metres for the rest of our week in Chania and ate elsewhere as we could see this waiter on the till every evening and refused to repeat such a despicable experience.

We visited the restaurant several times on our holiday, and cannot praise it highly enough. Due to covid it wasn't very bust through no fault of there own. But trust me people were missing out. The food was excellent both a mix of traditional Greek and kid friendly English, with standard Greek portions! We ate Greek as why go otherwise and so did the kids., including the rabbit with they assure me was epic! The family running it actually stayed open for the last couple of days as we were coming in. Oh milo the dog is awesome. Please go you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the delicious food. We have lived locally and been around many places to eat. But here we have eaten three times. FORDI I is great for cooking lamb, chicken soup, pizza, dick, salads, you name it. Everything we have tasted was delicious. When the atmosphere is pleasant and with a feeling that you like to work together and be there for us guests, it’s just the tip of the thing.

Good restaurant! The food is good, greek music (not live), they even set up a few fans on the ceiling that helped a lot when it was too warm in the evenings. Service is very kind, gyros is good, pork chops are also good. They have a different "meal of the day" which normally they are pretty good.
