This wonderful restaurant came highly recommended by friends in Cape Town. We are so pleased we stopped there for our dinner. Delicious lamb pie. Helpings large. Go hungry. Top-notch chef. Service oriented staff. An absolute pleasure. Enjoy. We are going again soon - so positive...was our experience. Recommended.More

We always eat here as the food is delicious and the staff very attentive and helpful. Breakfasts are great too as well as the packed breakfast if you ask. Great hosts and chef.

They have a nice enough menu (with not many vegetarian options), which is quite expensive in general, but it's the same all over Calvinia. The wine list in particular is overly expensive and they charge R50 corkage if you bring your own. The Bobotie was...tasty and nicely presented and the hake was just so-so, while the veg it came with was very good. It was a busy night (as they could also have expected) with many visitors in town at the start of the Camino, so service was very slow and waiting for the bill unnecessarily drawn out as I could see the waiter chatting in the kitchen with his back to the room, after I'd already asked twice for the bill. It's a nice enough restaurant, but it seemed to me the owners or managers were there seated at a table themselves, chatting to friends or family instead of watching and helping on such a busy night. I don't think I'd insist on going there again next time I'm in Calvinia, but it was alright for the one visit. Therefore I'll give a "very good" rating here, although it's not really deserved, but they are also not just "average".More

Was recommended by our guest house and they booked for us - Monday night in Calvinia. Well surprisingly they were really busy. Service was good, wine selection varied and the food was great- tasty and rather large portions. Impressive for a small town.

One of the best experiences we have had in a long time. The reception was professional and the room was great. The restaurant was nice, the food good and the service what we expected. We'll definitely stay here again.

Beautifully presented and delicious meal served to our table of six. The restaurant was fully booked but yet the one and only waiter managed to keep all the tables happy! He is one in a million.

Altough we did not have a reservation and arrived unexpected at 17h00 on a Saturday we were welcomed as if we were long lost family. We had the best lam pie I have ever tasted, and looking at the food of the other guests, a...German tourgroup they also enjoyed the tradisional "Boerekos" of South Africa. The room was very neat and comfortable and as I said we were not expected so that is how the property is kept.More
