The service was the best so far that we experienced in comparison to other places. The croissants were feather light and buttery, loved the 2 flavours we ordered. The macaroons were beautifully crafted and just as divine. The mocha is one of the best i have had, you can taste the authenticity. It was not sickly sweet but just right.

Decided to treat my family, to a croissant surprise explosion. Their viennoiserie even beter than any I have tasted before. A definite must is their Croissant churros cream & Croissant almond, the combination of croissant and filling marry well in your mouth. A must on your next Sea Point visit. They are open and they do serve you. Coco Safar, a hidden gem, full of truly delectable surprises.

The coffee was good and the staff were lovely and friendly but the chocolate and hazelnut croissant was inedible. Firstly, it’s huge. ENORMOUS. And then it’s filled and coated with chocolate. There are just far too many calories for an accompaniment to a mid morning coffee. It was impossible for me to eat it all (and frankly irresponsible for the company to serve it) and for that reason I won’t be returning.

We got caught up in the hype about Coca Safar and then we managed to visit them at last! What a disappointment. The cocktails was warm, the coffee was cold, the phyllo pastry filling was still frozen (at least I hope it was frozen and not uncooked :-( and the waiters' uniform was dirty. We only received 5 of the 6 tapas items, and when we informed the waiter, we still had to wait a while to get it. It was a weekday and the restaurant (and ergo the kitchen) was not very busy. Surely there is enough time to check the food? Should I have said something at the restaurant, probably. Why didn't I? Because I don't like spit in my food. Shame on me for expecting good fare for R895. Shame on Coco Safar for charging me R895 for it. Unfortunately that is time and money I will never get back.

Hi Liz, Let me start by offering an apology for the less than satisfactory experience you had at Coco Safar. This is far from our usual high standards. Please advise when you visited so that I can investigate further. If you recall the name of your waiter, that would assist a lot in the investigation process. Regarding your cocktails: All of our cocktails are prepared from scratch in house, and are all served over ice or shaken with ice. Please advise which cocktail was ordered that arrived warm? It really is best to bring matters like this up at the time to give us the opportunity to rectify the situation immediately. The insinuation that we would spit on your food is offensive and casts a very negative light on our establishment and the hospitality industry as a whole. If you could ammend your post and remove this accusation, I would appreciate it. As a team, we are passionate about hospitality, our guests and our brand and will always go above and beyond to ensure every guest has a unique and memorable experience with us. Saying that, we do also occasionally make mistakes and will do everything we can to rectify them. Once again, please accept our apologies, and if possible please provide the feedback requested above so that I can get to the bottom of it and see where we dropped the ball. Kind Regards Tony Hartmann General Manager 081 506 1437 thartmann@cocosafar-sp.co.za

My second time visiting and I was left a bit disappointed. My mom, sister and I went for the business class high tea. I had saved up for months to afford it and spoil my family for a girls day out (we had recently list my dad and it was a triple birthday celebration for us). First of all trying to make the booking was a challenge. I had to call 4 times before I could get a confirmation and each time they would ask me for my number (even though they could see the booking) and then wanted me to WhatsApp them to get a response…who is the client here?? So finally my reservation was made and the full amount paid. We arrived and were seated at a table in the sun next to the only other table there. Social distancing clearly is not a priority. Our birthdays were not acknowledged at all. Although the staff and chefs were friendly and the food good, it did not live up to the small fortune I payed. On the final stage of the high tea, the waiter and manager assured us that the experience was not over yet and 10 minutes later our waiter (captain) came to say his shift was ending. No one else then checked up on us and nothing else arrived. Being in hospitality myself I was really unhappy with the experience. Food was great but the entire process from beginning to end needs a lot more work and left quite a sour taste in my mouth. In the current economic climate, we should do everything in our power to ensure we hit the nail on the head in every aspect of the experience.

we booked for the high tea experience.. waited 30 min and then had to get up to ask if we could order a hot beverage.. 1 and half hours later only on course 4 2 sets of dirty courses on the table but they bring the new 3rd course? with one of the guests in the loo?? chicken liver pate turned into creme cheese.. menu and waiter advertised pate.. last 4 Cape Town courses fell away and became a boring high tea stand with macaroons and random display cabinet items .. macaroons so done... and at a forced 12% tip added for poor service, menu short cuts . only 1 dry ice item.. no blow torches as in the website video.. may as well have been in the wimpy with the noise level and not to mention the old tv rack hanging from the celing with all the wires hanging from it.. looks like something in a Sports bar.

I am a journalist that writes about luxury travel. I don’t believe the reviews are credible. We had the most appalling service and even more appalling food. That is without mentioning the dirty cutlery. The linguine chicken pasta dish came out cold and was tasteless. The mussels were literally served in water: no wine, onions or cream. I cannot tell you how disappointed my guests were. We complained and the rather lacklustre manager appropriately responded. We ordered other more simple dishes of poached eggs (I was charged for an ‘extra’ egg, although where ever I am in the world poached eggs always come with two eggs on the plate. But not so at cocosafa. Never again.

This review relates to the Uitsig Constantia branch. I took a disabled friend for breakfast. There were two tables that were occupied. As the wooden slatted chairs are French style with almost no back, I asked for a cushion for the person with disability. The waiter said that they have “one”. The waiter looked around and could not find it. He shrugged and had no alternative. As there are another 7+ restaurants on the premises, I suggested he ask to borrow either a cushion or a chair. He then disappeared. While he was away, I approached the manager and explained the situation. What an attitude: “We cannot find the cushion and all chairs at the other restaurants are the same”. Well that was a lie as I had just parked at a restaurant directly opposite where they had plastic chairs with decent back support and cushions. Then he spotted the “house cushion” - under someone else’s backside. He shrugged and walked away. Great managerial skills… Suddenly the original waiter appeared with a cushion from the opposite restaurant. This had already taken about 30 minutes and I was ready to go but the disabled friend was in pain and we decided to stay. We ordered our breakfasts. My joghurt and berries were as expected. My friend’s egg breakfast was good. The coffees were good. I decided to order another coffee and a croissant which are marketed as the “best in world”. I beg to differ. I had picked the least “baked” croissant myself as those on offer all seemed to be over baked. It was dry and looked like it had been made with bread dough. Quite possibly the worst croissant I have ever had. The second cup of coffee arrived 30 minutes later. I sent it back. After bringing this to the grumpy manager’s attention he took the coffees off the bill. Go to this branch at your peril.

We went for a late lunch at Coco Safar in Sea Point. What a mistake. We arrived at about 15:05, and had ordered our wine by 15:10 and our meal by 15:15. It took 15 minutes for our wine to come out. It took over 40 minutes for our burgers to come out, despite complaints to our waitress, two managers and the owner, I mean how long does it take to cook a burger when the restaurant is not busy. When our burgers eventually came out they were cold (the chips were hot). We sent them back via the female manager who assured us that fresh burgers would be made. When our meals returned they were the same burgers reheated and the chips had been cremated. We complained again and the owner came out this time and refused to provide fresh meals, we were aghast and he was rude to us. The female manager was nearly in tears and couldn't believe the way the owner treated us, which I believe had a racial component as we are a mixed couple (WM & BF) and he was a white Boer. We thought he was a total idiot. The waiting staff were OK and tried to keep us informed but service was very slow at a nearly empty restaurant. Though from what we were served and how we were treated it deserves to be a totally empty restaurant. A dreadful place, avoid at all costs. It's expensive as well.

We were really looking forward to the experience of high tea here, but were very disappointed. First of all, the restaurant is next to a very busy and noisy road, so is hardly the perfect setting for a relaxing high tea. All of the windows and doors to the terrace were open so we were subjected to all of the traffic noise. This was the most expensive meal we had during our stay in Cape Town and we ate at various five star hotels and top rated restaurants during our trip. I just cannot see how the experience at Coco Safar is worth it. Our "journey around the world" of various tastes and flavours to me seemed very contrived, pretentious and in my opinion all pretty tasteless. We asked for the bill half way around the world as we just could not be bothered to continue with the remainder of the trip,.

i agree with some of the comments made about the over the top prices. this comment though concerns their new eatery at hertex near the gardens centre. the old eatery was a great favourite and i went there many times. now, no more bacon. sorry lamb "bacon" just doesnt cut it. wont be back. obviously there are not bothered to consider the tastes of their average clientele of the area. a great shame as the venue itself is charming.

We came to Coco Safar for the high tea experience and it was a trip in different flavors... We tried the business and first class options. For me, the business was enough in word of quantity. It was an unusual high tea as most of the dishes were served individually, like a fine dining experience... The highlights for me were the bobotie croissant, the goat cheese and the cocoa bean patisserie. I personally didn't like so much the scone, as the cinnamon flavor was to strong and was covering the other flavors, but it is my personal opinion. The tea selection was quite limited, but apparently, the options will be extended within a month. It was a nice experience and still recommend it.

I went to Coco Safar 3 times while I was in Cape Town. Once for a brunch and twice for lunch. Each experience was amazing. Their croissants and macarons were out of this world. You have to try each and every flavour of their macarons and croissants to truly appreciate their flavours. For lunch I had the buttermilk croissant chicken and boy was I in for a treat, that I was forced to come back to enjoy it Their coffee is also amazing, the wife had the iced Vietnamese coffee, it was amazing. The staff are always on standby to help, from Bridgette directing you to your table to Brad explaining the different types of croissants, with the waitresses punctually by your side. Coco Safar is definitely my favourite restaurant to eat in Cape Town!

After a truly exceptional dining experience as a first time patron of CocoSafar, i want to take the time and share my dining experience. I was greated by a well dressed and friendly waiter and shown to my table, as i noticed the shop was nearly full to capacity with only one table behind me open , i didn't expect such quility service, minutes after i was seated the manager introduced himself and offered to take our beverage order, which i recieved promptly. Deu to the number of clientele i knew that my meal order wouldn't be as prompt , but the manager made sure to keep me updated creating a truly personal experience, insuring that even with a fully seated restuarant i felt truly valued as a client. To the management , kitchen staff and Waitrons at Constantia WELL DONE!!!! Special thanks to Sean our waiter and the friendly floor manager on Morne

Beautiful space in Sea Point, love the interior. Service friendly but little slow when trying to pay! The plain croissants were not so great...not crispy enough (more chewy), I have tasted better. The cappuccino was good but hot chocolate luke warm.
