The Press was our first stop in Cape Town, a kosher carnivores oasis on an otherwise meat-free trip about the cape. It’s a big open restaurant on Main Road in Sea Point, a block or so back from the beach. With a very funky logo...and a “no holding back” meaty menu the cuisine appears unashamedly steak house. But the restaurant fit out and ambience is unclear, more utilitarian and pretty uninspired. The food choices were good, the quality ok, service was a mixed bag (we certainly had one excellent, one average and one very weak staff member serve us). Good value for money as a kosher meal restaurant. If you’re after a meaty kosher fix it’s a good call. Not sure I could find another super compelling reason to add this to my list.More

Oh my word! 😰😤😤 i recenlty found out from my friend's baby-sitter that their kitchen staff are halaal (mid-religous) & the owner's involved in some bizzare harrasment sex-scandal with his own staff so I dont recomend this place for anyone kosher

This restaurant is simply AMAZING! I am 62 years old and this is by FAR the best burger I have ever eaten. The service was also great!

Cape Town has a fairly limited range of kosher dining spots, but this mattered little to us as we were happy to return to The Press three times in one week. Coming from Israel, we found the portions to be generous, flavours delicious, and prices...very reasonable. Both the Mary Had A Little Lamb and Hangover burgers were so good, we ordered them twice. We found the steak burger a bit hit and miss (mine was slightly overdone while my friend’s was perfect) but the steaks themselves at neighbouring tables looked divine. Top tip - sit at the bar to chat with Mike, the affable barman who made us delicious cocktails and had great banter. The house white was lovely too. Also possible to buy yummy kosher biltong to take home from here. Last tip — the Spar down the street has the widest range of kosher food we found in Cape Town. We got sushi, sandwiches, and salads here for Shabbat and day trips, though if we’d thought of it, we’d have got takeaway from The Press! They do takeaway sandwiches as well as the main dishes.More

Great Kosher Meat food. Very reasonable prices! Family friendly! If you observe Orthodox Judaism (also, if you're not...)- don't miss this spot!

We hated this place. Cold, unclean, tasteless food. Way over-priced for what you get. I really question how kosher this place really is.

The restuarant was empty and we were the only people eating there - a sign we should have read. We were served gruffly and received a miserably small steak, burnt lamb ribs, burnt sweet potatoe fries and chips which were half cooked. We did complain...and were semi ignored. The meat was drenched in a strong sauce - perhaps to hide the substandard meat. Returning home one of our party had severe stomach pains and had two days of illness as a result of the food. We called the restuarant to tell them of our negative experience and they said they would call back - never did. Truly awful meal, overpriced and an experience not to be repeated.More

Wonderful kosher food, and great staff! Shout out to Joshua for being the best waiter ever😍 (even if David says your the worst😉). If you are lucky enough to be served by Joshua, you will be taken care of like royalty. I hope to be...back visiting cape town soon, I do hope that they keep my table for me😉! (Hint; steak should be ordered rare, they will come m/r - m).More

What a lovely dining experience and tasty food too. If kosher food is a must then go no place else. I waddled out having devoured a huge T Bone steak. Amazing

Took the family for a Saturday night dinner. Food was simply brilliant! Excellent tasty home made flame grilled burgers. It’s a casual diner with booth type seating. Coleslaw brilliant. My wife had a chicken salad which was also super. Service excellent. Nothing to complain about....Goldies famous chocolate mouse for desert. We will back.More
