Zéfiro is an excellent colonial place of the XVIII century to have lunch. The food has an excellent taste and as it is managed by the senior students it offers different creations every other week. And the place is magnificent to enjoy a cup of...wine while you enjoy it.More

We opted to eat I the courtyard to make the most of our last hours in Mexico. Very peaceful but you may prefer the buzz of indoors. Interesting food such as butter with crickets, cactus 3 ways. The fish with garlic was very tasty as...was the chicken The enthusiasm of the service is a delight.More

Excellent food and service, in an outstanding setting. Rotating specials and a nice wine list. You will be amazed at what these students put out. Reservations recommended, seems that lots of locals come here for great value in fine dining.More

Just got into Mexico City and what a treat! Recommended to me by a friend, I found the restaurant. It is part of a 4 year university hospitality program. Both the food and the service were wonderful. My waiter suggested a wine to go with...my food which was perfect. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. If you have a chance, go to this restaurant.More

Came here as a family of three. We'd been walking around all day and were hungry, thirsty and I was a bit disheveled. Earlier in the week we'd eaten at a very posh restaurant (tasting menu/reservation a month in advance) and costs over $125 USD/person....The atmosphere, food and service here were all far superior and we spend about $60 USD TOTAL including tip for apps, mains, and 5 drinks. Two of our party are vegetarians and the menu is clearly marked with what their options were. There were multiple vegetarian options for appetizers and mains. The waiter originally brought out a free starter, and when I asked if it had meat in it (just to see if we could eat it) he took it back and gave us one without the chorizo flakes. He also was careful to ask about eggs and dairy. I am not vegetarian and had the fish tacos which were really amazing. The restaurant can be hard to find - its enclosed in a high walled cloister and if you are entering from calle regina you have to enter through a 20 ft moss covered brick wall and through a parking lot (feels like platform 9 3/4 - but there is a sign) However the resulting benefit is that the patio to the restaurant feels like you've been transported out of the city. It was calm and there was a great cool breeze. I really can't recommend this place highly enough.More

In Mexico City only for a few hours between flights we happened upon this gem of a restaurant. It looks posh and I thought it would be a rather expensive treat – and was very pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices, excellent service and amazing...food. Our servers Montserrat and Ana made our visit a pleasure – even with our struggling Spanish! I would be very happy to come here often.More

Today, my boyfriend and I had lunch at Zefiro. I go to Michelin starred restaurants regularly, and I can honestly say that this place is totally Bib Gourmand level at least. First, the setting is lovely- large tasteful dining room and peaceful shady terrace. We...were given a choice of where to sit, and we chose outside. Second, the service is fantastic. Since this is a culinary/hospitality school, your service team is basically three students who are practicing the service style of a fine dining restaurant. Our main waiter was Urial, and we were also served by Sabina and Karen. All three students were polite, cheerful, and obviously working very hard. The service was professional in tone and pace. The team was attentive but did not rush us, kept water and bread full, and explained each dish. They also switched back and forth between Spanish and English very comfortably. Basically, you could tell that the servers were students only because they were not completely relaxed. Other than that, Sabina, Karen, and Urial would be totally at home in any of the better restaurants in NYC. The food was also excellent. We were first brought a drink menu (only one complaint - saw cocktails and beer, but no wine) and I selected a craft beer and my partner chose an artisan cola - both excellent. Then, we had the amuse bouche (a little bean tostada) and bread service (choice of three fresh organic breads). Our dishes were 2 appetizers - carnitas tacos and a fideo seca, and 2 mains - beef tongue and fish. Each dish was a generous portion, very tasty, well cooked, and a creative and elevated version of its more classic archetype. Each plate, particularly the fish, was very attractively plated. We had no room for dessert, but got two little chocolate truffles (also very tasty) with the check. The bill for this feast, including the tip, came out to about 1000 pesos. I cannot think of many other places where I got this type of value for money. A few tips: we had a reservation from Open Table but probably did not need one; they accept cards but you must tip cash, and they are only open for lunch. Go! You will not be disappointed with this unique, delicious, and great value experience.More
