We have been coming to PV for 12+ years and are always excited to discover new places to eat. I am not sure how long Sonorita's has been here, but we are sure glad we found it!! I have been longing for some authentic flavorful tacos and these were perfect. The exciting and traditional atmosphere start you feeling like you are in some small Mexican village. The decor and plates are perfect and the smells are heavenly the minute you walk in the door. The waitress/hostess that greeted us was bustling about and excited to explain the menu (as it is a little bit confusing if you are new to the authentic terminology). We sampled the special (3 pastore tacos) and a chicken hirachua and a potato dish. Sorry, I do not know the exact terminology for this, but it was really good. I would recommend if you are coming with a group, to treat this place like a tapas restaurant and sample and share many dishes. We are excited to add this restaurant to our list of MUST EATS and plan on returning with our daughter soon.

Great new find! We waited three minutes before a table came free in this deceptively large restaurant. The menu is confusing but our waitress walked us through and gave great suggestions. The restaurant is busy, clean, and well lit with tables allowing conversation despite a fair amount of music and noise. Yup, it’s a glorified taco stand with great flavors but also is very nicely decorated and airy. The pastor was excellent as were the chicken tacos.... piping hot and with lots of meat, among the best we had in PV. The baked smashed potato was another surprise with its toppings and great flavors. Two tacos were enough for us while sharing the potato. To top it off, 32$usd for four with drinks! We will return!

We got tired of waiting in line at our former tacos al pastor place so tried out this new restaurant and WOW! They are terrific. The guy fixing them is entertaining to watch, too, as he slices the pineapple and flings it into the tortilla waiting in his hand. This is our new go-to, favorite place. The restaurant is clean with a cool bar area, and I like the way they kept many of the brick and wood features of the original building. The owner was very attentive and the service is good. We will go back several more times before we head home.

We were recommended to try this spot rather than Pancho Tacos which is our favorite. We were a bit put off by the owner or manager that told us Pancho Tacos was a joke. We decided to try it anyway. The Al Pastor were tasteless and were dry like it was yesterday's pork. We almost walked out as after about 10 minutes as no one had even acknowledged us. Wish we had.

It's hard to find a restaurant that is not overpriced in this part of Puerto Vallarta. My boyfriend and I were searching for a new Mexican restaurant to try for Mexican Independence Day and we stumbled upon this place during our walk. The menu was very reasonably priced, especially for Zona Romantica, so we were expecting a catch. My boyfriend is a Mexican chef so he's not easy to please when it comes to Mexican cuisine. However, we both thoroughly loved this restaurant. The food portions were excellent and the quality of the meats and cheese were superb. We tried several different items, including their house tacos with pastor, queso fundido, and guacamole. Everything was excellent and we couldn't finish it all so we took the rest home. We also tried a couple drinks from their drinks menu. Drinks are average priced for this area - a little on the high side overall, but were quite good as well. Dinner for two WITH drinks and tip came out to 400 pesos - extremely good value compared to many other places in this zone. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning when my sister comes to visit next week!

This is not your typical Taco restaurant. The selection, variety, portions, price and service is a totally unique experience. It has a very large indoor seating area, an excellent bar (love the margaritas) and some very interesting decor. The owner, Gilberto Fernandez, is an amazing guy as well as his daughter Maria. Together, along with an excellent staff, they will provide you with a very enjoyable experience. Stop in and check out the taco menu. It's like nothing I've ever seen before.....and I've been coming to Mexico for many, many years. Ask to meet Gilberto and tell him Carl & Lani sent you. It's open from late afternoon until around 10 pm. Enjoy !

Tried this restaurant based on reviews and a personal recommendation and based on my expectations, I was a little disappointed. I had the alambre pastor and while it had decent flavor, the pork was very dry. Dining companion had steak tacos and chorizo tacos. He liked the steak (I didn’t try them) and the chorizo tacos were okay, but not great. I was expecting more of the “loose” style of chorizo, or maybe even the hard Spanish style, but the chorizo they had was more like andouille or a spicy polish sausage. I would probably give them another try if I happened to be in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip.

We were dubious when a local recommended this place to us, but it proved to be the best decision ever! There are many option on the menu and they are all very good... even great... but the star of the show for us was the ribeye taco huera. It's a bone-in ribeye steak grilled and chopped up, served in a hand made flour tortilla with crusty melted cheese and all the salsa, lime, cilantro and onion fixings. It was a taste of heaven! They have a full bar and are cash only. The taco is pretty big so I'd start with one per person and then order more or something else if you want. We ate there multiple times and took all of our friends and they ALL loved it!

Now here is place that is just half a block off the usual walking in this area. It is one half a block NE of the Lazaro Park in Old Town Puerto Vallarta. I have eaten here at least a dozen times and I have never been disappointed in any thing that I have ordered. They have a great selection of Latin food and the cooks know how to put it together. This is a very pleasant place to eat and extremely clean. Not only is the food good the owner has done a fabulous job with the people that is hired to serve you. Great place to go to get great food without spending a fortune.

This is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. The setting is warm and welcoming. We were greeted by Gilberto, the owner, and seated quickly. The service was outstanding and everyone had a big smile. The restaurant is quite large so there was no waiting for a table. The menu is quite extensive offering a variety of delicious food. This evening we went for Al Pastor and we were not disappointed. Not only was it the best we have had in any restaurant, there was easily twice the meat that you get anyplace else. After dinner we enjoyed Gilberto's grandmother's secret recipe marzipan cheese cake. It was incredible!!! If you can not get here for dinner, do yourself a favor and stop in for this incredible cheese cake. They have a beautiful full bar serving anything you desire.

We stopped one morning for breakfast after a walk on the Malecon. We had eggs, chilaquiles, fresh fruit and fresh squeezed o.j. All the food was wonderful and served with a smile (behind the mask)! We even tipped the cooks, which they appreciated. We returned several days later with a local friend who also thought the food was excellent. We will definitely return again!

Gave this a 4 because one of four of us was not thrilled with the food. The other three thought it was very good. There are a number of different "taco" shells to choose from, including a flat bread and sliced potatoes. Food was nicely cooked and lots of sauces to choose from. Nice beer and drink menu. Wines are limited. This is getting popular, but the atmosphere was at a nice level. We could have a good conversation, but there was activity around. Prices were excellent for this area of the city. Definitely worth trying.

Some of the best tacos in Puerto Vallarta! It is located in the Romantic Zone. I fell in love with the arrachera tacos😍. Wash them bad boys ( tacos come in 3’s) down with a watermelon margarita. Back flip, double booty shakin good! They offer 4 different hot sauces, limes, fresh onion, and cilantro to “build your own” taco. Plate comes with freshly made corn tortillas and meat of choice only…perfect for the picky eaters of the world.
