Had the lunch menu. Some of us chose bar meals , some wanted a lighter meal like a sandwich. We opted for paninis but were very disappointed with the fillings. Expected tuna Mayo or cheddar cheese & onion etc. I think they tried to be...a bit different with the fillings but they really shouldn’t have. I’m not sure if too much butter too. The 3 of us that chose to eat the paninis couldn’t eat them. Awful. We only ate them as hungry. Such a shame. The fillings were... creamy cheese Chicken bacon (very rare bacon) and mozzarella. & mozzarella cheese or cheese and ? pesto. Unfortunately we had trouble eating them as they weren’t very nice at all🙁. My friend had to leave hers. I wish I’d left mine as felt unwell after. A shame as it’s a fantastic pub , setting and staff were fab.!! The normal pub food of ham egg n chips and fish and chips were great but let down with the paninis. Prices were reasonable too. Would be nice to have more popular fillings and it was definitely a “cheese overload!” (And I like a cheddar cheese panini! ). Sorry, they didn’t taste very nice at all. Shame as we would have definitely returned on a regular basis as loved the pub and the garden. A toastie / sandwich or (a decent filling on a) panini, with salad. That’s we needed.More

Family visit here today after a stressful day. The bar and restaurant were busy with happy customers when we arrived. A lot of care has been taken with the look of the interior and it looks great. Food was typical pub fare rather than being...especially fancy but all food nice. The best aspect for me was that the staff were just fantastic - young, very hardworking, efficient, and above all extremely happy and pleasant. They looked after us really well and made our visit special. We brought our little dog with us and he was made so welcome and brought water and even a little special treat from the kitchen, which was so sweet of them! Highly recommended.More

We went out for a family meal as it was my brother in law's birthday the next day, (Good Friday) we arrived around 7pm and we ordered food about 15/20 mins later the starter came over half an hour later and the main meal came...around 8:30 as the service was slow. I ordered a 5 cheese pizza, it was different but alright, but as it was over an hour after we placed the order, my plate still had pizza left on it as it came a bit late, My wife had a vegetarian pie as all the pizza WERE NOT SUITABLE FOR VEGETARIANS! we asked if there was any other vegetarian cheese they could put on the pizza but they said no as it was done in a certain way. So as our plates still had food left on them (as our food was later) I asked the waitress to keep everything on my plate in a box (This included chips on my plate) and the waitress threw the chips away and only left the pizza. we feel it a shame to waste perfectly good edible food, all the staff we really friendly but we feel there were a range of issues that could have been better. i'm just glad my wife is not a gluten free vegetarian as there was no food option if you were a gluten free vegetarian.More

Took my parents here for afternoon tea, certainly won't be rushing back! Was really looking forward to this as I often have lunch with friends here. £32 for 2 people didn't think the amount of food warranted this charge. Was not impressed with the cakes,...seemed like they had been defrosted as the were cold, the were also very dense and to be honest not very nice. We really did expect the food to be better. The scones however were really nice and the came to us still warm. We had a refill of the tea pot, but this was only water added to the tea bags already in the pot as it was very weak. All in all it was a very disappointing visit.More

We were simply looking for a good pub lunch but the food at The Crown exceeded our expectations by a long way! We had a burger and the chicken pie and they were both brilliant! The staff were friendly and hard working and we will...definitely recommend this pub. The outside area looks great for a visit in the summer too!More

We visited the crown today at around 2.30 on the off chance of a table. There was a very limited menu for Sunday lunch. We went for a Sunday roast, beef. It was very disappointing, the veg wasn’t very warm and the meat looked very...unappetising. It looked liked the leftover meat, lots of bits, curled up and tough and fatty. The only saving grace was the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. I did tell the waitress and she apologised and said she would tell the kitchen but 2 minutes later appeared with the bill. I really begrudged paying the £42 We eat out a lot and this really was a very poor roast. We won’t be returning.More

Visited with a group and had the Christmas menu. Food was delicious, well cooked and very generous portions. All the staff were very friendly and engaged with lots of fun banter. Great selection at the bar. General decor and atmosphere was spot on and made...for an amazing night. Would highly recommend this venue and look forward to returning soon.More
