We booked for lunch in order to assess the suitability for a possible wedding venue. While the location has great views, the rest falls far short. It is bare, unwelcoming, cold and lacks atmosphere. The food was expensive and unpleasant. The pizzas we ordered (Bare...blue) lacked most of the advertised toppings ie the rocket and figs and the blue cheese was crumbled in minute quantity over the pizza. The bacon was flavourless. The result was a dry, sweet experience (they may have used fig jam instead) This cost R159! And we ordered two! Boy did we regret that. The fish curry was also disappointing but more edible than the pizza. It tasted like heated pickled fish, extremely vinegary. And the salads were really basic and extremely uninteresting. I have to admit that the battered fish and chips looked good as it passed our table en route to other diners. But if that is their specialty, it's a pity the waitron didn't think to mention it or to warn us that they were out of a few ingredients for our orders. Overall we walked away feeling cheated and dissatisfied. The bill was R940 for the four of us, including a bottle of wine, a large bottle of sparkling water and 10% tip.(no point penalising the waitron). No coffee or dessert. There was no sanitiser on the table; we used our own.More

We found this place via Google search (GPS also struggled to pinpoint it, but we eventually found it) - and it was definitely worth the effort. We initially wanted to do breakfast, but was surprised by the variety of service/goods on offer. It has a...large dining room, with beautiful views of the ocean (large glass doors to protect from cold and rain also). There is a gift shop, large paining gallery (inclusive of owner's own 3D creations). It also caters for weddings etc! Breakfast was good and it was well presented! BUT THE VIEWS - WOW!More

The location is great with beautiful views, as you only get on the Garden Route. Very spacious outside area. The whole place looks good and is clean and airy. But that is where the good news stops. Reception in general needs a lot of attention....On previous visits we had to stand around until someone pitched up eventually (two occasions) and this time we were met by a young, really arrogant guy who made it clear that the place was full and no, he was not going to help us. When we pointed out that the place was only partially full, and asked if all the empty places were booked he decided that there were in fact still tables available. We should have left. The service is poor with clearly totally untrained waiters. We were then told that kitchen staff hadn't pitched so they could only squeeze in pizzas! We decided to enjoy the view, and settle for a beer and a pizza. The waitress took our order and left - permanently. When we went looking for her she couldn't be found, we re-ordered the pizza and got some beer that we carried to the table, repeated the beer fetching routine and was then served with substandard, very dry and tasteless pizza. This is domething that you see on the Garden Route: restaurants with breathtaking views but that's all. On 2 previous visits, for breakfast, the service and good was similarly below average. A good start would be to get rid of the unmannered guy at the front desk.More

Set on a high point of the Dunes, well outside of the nearest Village, with a breathtaking ocean view, this Restaurant has considerable potential. Sadly it falls well short of this - the menu is limited, the food and service are average, the decor is...basic.More

The only positive from our visit to Seeplaas, was the view. The poor waitress didn't have a clue, but that is the fault of management who have not bothered to train her, thinking that the view will overcome all wrongs. Not so! We ordered 2...draft beers, only for the waitress to come back to tell us that there was no draft beer! So we ordered 2 Heineken, and again the waitress came back to tell us there was none in stock! There was Windhoek in stock so we had that, 3rd time lucky! We asked the waitress what specials there were (we knew about the 2 portions of Hake and Chips for R160). She said that there was a hake special, but said she wanted to check the specials board first, and then she let us know that here was a Hake and Chips special, but none other. Surely she she should have known the specials??? But, she wouldn't have told us about the specials if we hadn't asked her! I ordered a Caesar Salad, which was totally inedible! The lettuce was not Romaine, but some old lettuce leaves which were brown in places and slimy. No Parmesan shavings, just some grated strong cheese on top which was definitely not Parmesan! The Caesar dressing was inedible, and it must have been the bottled variety, judging by the texture, taste and colour. The 4 slices of bruschetta were probably the best part of this salad. So Seeplaas get the prize for the worst Caesar Salad I've ever had! I hardly ate any salad, but the waitress took it away, but didn't ask why it hadn't been eaten. My friends focaccia was slightly better, but it was just too thin and so crispy that it shattered into tiny pieces when you bit into it. We were not offered more drinks when we finished our first beer, and were not offered anything else to eat, which is just as well, as we would have declined anything else. No management checked on us at all What a pity that they trade on the view only and not the food or service!More

We booked online via hotels.com which specified that we have an ocean view room and was on special when you chose a non-refundable option. So we gladly made the booking well in advance due to the great special we got online via hotels.com and I...git an invoice stating deluxe double room with ocean view. Upon arrival, they said we are booked for the mountain view room, which actually has no mountain view. Anyway, they blaimed the mistake on the app we booked it on. Which is understandable that sometimes stuff like this do happen, BUT there was an ocean view room available which they refused to give us, even though we did make a booking for the ocean view room AND made full payment 5 months prior to arrival. Their excuse was that another person booked that room. So I asked them when did that person book that room. They could not answer me, so I asked if that person did payment already, which they added, no and there was no deposit paid as well by said person and they could not get hold of said person that booked our room which I add again had no payment to confirm their booking. We waited for an hour and a half to get an answer amd any resolvement from the manager that was not even present at the premises. Eventually when I lost my cool on the poor staff member at reception they agreed to give us our ocean view room that we paid for well in advance. Very poor management which could have been resolved in a matter of minutes.More

The view from this restaurant is awesome! The service is all right but not great. Limited menu. When we visited they did not have ice cream for milkshakes in the middle of the school holiday. Difficult with kids because you can not see the play...area from where you sit. If you go with friends, want a late breakfast, lunch or a early afternoon drink this is perfect. They are not open on mondays, even in December. I think this is an awesome addition to Tergniet.More

We went for lunch and was again impressed by the unbelievable view. The restaurant ambiance and decorations is very simplistic, but soft on the eye. The service was very friendly and helpfull. The food was the cherry on the top, well prepared and taste full....Good value for moneyMore

We have been to Seeplaas in the past. This is the first time this year that we visited them. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they now have a liquor license. They also did some expanding. We had the mussels and the foccacia. Both...were delicious. The service was friendly. The drinks took a bit long - but were nevertheless delicious.More
