Delish! Restaurant was busy - I failed to make a reservation, but the wonderful hostess was able to accommodate our family at the bar. We enjoyed each course and the wine pairings were well done! Thank you fir a wonderful evening!
A cute open air restaurant serving so-so food. The 20-somethings piling in to the restrooms to presumably do something drug related was a nice touch. The owner that fawned over the 2 tables next to us but ignored ours was another (at one point I...felt bad for the 2 people next to us as the lady gave them her life story…including whether she and her husband should have the second set of kids in their 30’s or not).
Not since maybe Rome can I remember seeing/feeling such a difference in service levels at a restaurant. Not in Los Angeles, not in Dallas, not in Manhattan…none of those places…but Cruz Bay? Count me a bit surprised. And yet that’s what we had. The server we did have was fine. Not special, not great…but sufficient. The cocktails were generally pretty bad including a vodka gimlet that wasn’t really worth drinking at all. My wife’s salad and my daughter’s clam chowder were probably the highlights. The entrees (the filet and a pair of ‘wok’d’ bowls) were again ok but not great and no where near worth the asking price of $65 per (4 courses total) and the $300 after tip price tag including drinks really pushed past a reasonable amount.
So about the kids and the drugs thing. There were 3 girls and one guy…all early 20’s. The 3 girls went to the restrooms about 4 times in an hour—with 2 of them usually piling in together. This was all happening right off to the left of our table. Then the other girl would go in while the guy waited by the door. I guess she was worried someone would walk in mid-shot or something. It was pretty gross and not an environment I was enthused to have my 12-year old around. The owner was, I guess, too busy fawning over the 2 tables to notice what was going on in her restaurant.
I don’t mind spending $300-400 on a meal with my family. But at the price…I expect better than what I’d get at an Applebee’s…where at least the franchisee doesn’t make it obvious that you’re a second class guest and the local kids shoot up in the bathroom.
It’s a hard pass.More
Lime Inn was the perfect spot to celebrate my daughter's 30th BD. Eight of us enjoyed well made cocktails and very good food. Service was really good and we accomplished humiliating my daughter with a BD dessert and singing. Fun atmosphere and a really nice...evening.More
So disappointing. We were very excited to try Lime Inn. Unfortunately, our waitress was inattentive, even though there are only 8 tables in the restaurant. When she first came to the table we asked what we needed to know about the restaurant and her response...was "ugh, nobody told you?". They gave us a hard time when our tall 13 year old wanted to order off the kids menu, even though 3 of us where eating their expensive tasting menu.
While it is true that you get two appetizers, an entree, and dessert, the clam chowder was 3 spoonfuls, and each course took FOREVER. We were there 90 minutes before our entree arrived. The waitress kept apologizing that the kitchen was behind. When we did get the fettuccine with mussels, shrimp, and clams, there were small pieces of mussel shell throughout the dish. After spitting out many pieces of shell I stopped eating. Two hours after we were seated they offered to replace it with another entree, but would not take it off the bill. I didn't want to spend 3 hours at dinner so I declined.
Too much attitude from the manager, a disinterested waitress, bad food, and extremely slow.
On a positive note the frozen key lime pie was good, as well as my wife's brownie with ice cream. Not enough for us to ever come back.More
We had high hopes. The service is good and the setting, comfortable as bustling as it is. The food fell short. The crab app seemed to feature imitation crab. The kale pumpkin app recommended by Tommy, our awesome server, fell short. Just blah...food was over...salted and just didn't make the mark. The key lime pie was too tart to really enjoy.More
Everything about this place is incredible. The environment is so fun and tropical and in such a great location right outside of the main town. The menu was so unique and everything was absolutely delicious. The staff was delightful and service was good for the...amount of people in the restaurant. I love St. John and this is my favorite restaurant on the island. Perfect if you want a nice, filling dinner. Not a quick bite to eat but definitely worth the time commitment.More
Have been eating at this restaurant for years. Has always been delicious. They now are only offering a tasting menu. I figured it would still be excellent food. Wrong. Caesar salad was dry and tasteless. The Wok'd dish was dry but still tasted somewhat good....I feel the food here is gradually going downhill. Such a shame since it used to be one of the best restaurants in my opinion on island. .More
I found the employees to be very friendly and the food tasted delicious. However, there is only 1 price for each person regardless of what you order and being a vegetarian, my 1 empanada, Caesar salad and veggie goulash was nowhere close to being worth...$90.More
Had an amazing dinner here while vacationing on St. John. The owner is a local who was very attentive, friendly and a professional host.
The food was excellent and had several good options for those in our party of 10 who had a gluten allergy....I had the mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer, lobster entree and the sundae for dessert. All three were prepared perfectly and tasted delicious.
Excellent drinks as well and I highly recommend Wiley’s whiskey.
Make a reservation as you are very unlikely to find a table as a walk in.More
St John was the most crowded we’ve ever experienced, a sentiment echoed by residents, shop owners, and long-time visitors. Nearly all the restaurants were fully booked with waiting lists. This may explain why we felt somewhat rushed, possibly to make way for a third seating....Sadly, the laid back local charm we experienced in July 2019 was missing, a consequence perhaps of this ‘post’ Covid travel boom. By 6:20 pm, they were sold out of their whole lobster, their signature dish. Our group’s consensus of the offerings for their 3 or 4 course fixed menu were either excellent or meh. Similarly, some dishes were either over or under salted. The whole snapper (the only entree available for their 3 course offering) was excellent and more than enough for two. The accompanying rice and black beans is how I remembered, also tasty and excellent. Our server was very pleasant, no complaints there. We ended up canceling our second reservation. We felt like we experienced all Lime Inn had to offer this trip.More
