When at the Oasis at Death Valley the dining choices are very limited. For two days when I was there last week this was the only dining option. As such, prices are expensive but my view is when on vacation you don’t worry about the...price of food or being on a diet. This place is part of the $100 million renovation over the last couple of years. It’s a dramatic improvement over the somewhat “dumpy” restaurant that was there before. With COVID still around, there was no table service. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you. I ate breakfast and dinner there and both times the bartender was over-the-top nice. For dinner I had a pasta dish with mushrooms and sundried tomatoes. Being an avid cook, I have high standards for food. This was not “the best I ever had” but was very tasty. There was enough left for lunch the next day in the room, cold! The decorations hanging on the wall (paintings and animals) are on loan from a private citizen and expensive per the bartender. Nice to walk around and look at the stuff. The reviews are all over the map here but for me it worked out very good. Just forget the price and enjoy. I’ll be back next July and will eat there again.More

Death Valley is off-season at this time of year (June), so The Oasis has only one sit-down option for dinner and lunch—The Last Kind Words Saloon. I ate there three days in a row and was pleased with the food and the service. When I...first entered, I encountered a line and was informed via a sign that the bartender takes orders, you pay, then you sit down and wait. I steeled myself for a long wait and was pleasantly surprised at the bartender’s efficiency at taking orders. Each time, the food arrived at my table faster than what they said it would take. Portions are large and shareable. Salads are yummy. I had the dinner salad one day and a Ceasar’s the next. The baby back ribs are tender and tasty. French dip is delicious. If you are a dessert person, try the chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream. Last Kind Words has a full bar—from soft to hard drinks. The bartender makes a pretty good Manhattan. The food prices are higher due to the remote location, but drinks were a bit lower than coastal California.More

First: open for eating in!! I had searched high and low and only saw takeout so we were thrilled to eat inside! Order at the bar. Food came super fast. My pasta was AMAZING. My husband had the prime rib special and it was great...flavor and a huge portion. The Scottish Ale was amazing.More

We got in around 8pm after traveling for hours to spend the night at The Ranch. This restaurant stays open until 9pm. We had to stand in line waiting to order at the bar and after traveling for hours it was hot standing in line....The artifacts on the walls are cool to see. The dinner food is really expensive, i.e. Cesar salad $16.00 which was not very good as the lettuce seemed flat and the dressing was horrible that it made my daughter nausea. The dinner menu really did not have any kids food on it so it was a good thing our child was not hungry after being on the road for hours. We had breakfast here and again the food was expensive, but we needed to eat before getting on the road. Suggest bringing your own food unless you want to pay a lot.More

Went twice for dinner since this was the only place open where we were staying. First, the bartender taking our order was very distracted. Menu was limited due to Covid which we understood, but for what we ordered we felt it was overpriced to begin...with, and both nights our food came out ice cold. The first night the server comped us a dessert, which was fine. However there were only 2 desserts on the menu and the one we wanted, they were out of. The second night, they were out of both desserts and we got an “oh well, sorry”. Trust when I say, we will never go there again. I’ll drive the 27 miles to stovepipe for food that’s twice as good at half the price.More

There was a limited menu and outdoor dining only but the food was really good. It looks really cool on the inside I'd love to come back and experience it some day.

Ate here two nights and while the menu was limited, what was served was very good, tasty. Food served in take-out containers, boxes, and put on plates at the table by the patrons. We had one of the few large tables for eight in a...small dining room left rear from the entrance. Staff was helpful and was very busy; service was good, quick given the circumstances. There were tables inside and outside, and the outside tables benefited from water misters above the diners. Patrons required to wear masks inside when not eating, e.g., in line to order food and drinks. Tip--Since food served in take out containers when brought to the table, request sauces or dressings that can be served on the side, be served that way. Tendency if too much sauce or dressing for food to get soggy.More

Had the kale salad with maple dressing - unbelievably good and huge! Also, the key lime pie parfait was excellent. Brussel sprouts were a "B". Didn't enjoy the pistachio pesto pasta (bland and didnt taste the pistachios), but we are definitely going back for the...salad and dessert!More

We mostly self-provisioned our food during our stay at The Ranch, but splurged for one dinner at Last Kind Words. The prices are on the high side - which we expected, given that you're a captive audience - but the food surpassed our expectations. The...mains came with enough other stuff (for example, salmon had couscous and spinach) that you really don't need to buy the extra sides, but it's nice to share one. The wine list is also pricey with the lowest priced red (Malbec from Alamos) a great value for your money. Due to COVID, we ate outside (6:15 pm). The patio did not have heaters, but we were comfortable with a light jacket. The large outdoor wood fireplace adds a lovely touch.More

Super fun saloon with solid food and service. The food ain't anything to write home about, but it's as good as you can expect while camping out in the middle of Death Valley. The highlight of the restaurant would definitely be the decor. They've done...a magnificent job recreating a saloon from the Old Wild Wild West, complete with mounted animal heads and wooden furniture. I ordered the baby back ribs, and they were pretty good - just a little on the tough side. The brussel sprouts and pancetta was reasonably tasty, though way over-oiled.More
