Cute shop, sadly the menu outside says a la carte, but they refuse to do it, they also will not seat parties of one, only parties of two.

This was a fun and flavorful sushi experience. The chef modified the 10 piece meal to accommodate my wife’s and my differing preferences for a couple of fish. Also had a good selection of Japanese whiskey and sakes. An enjoyable experience.

When Japan announced borders were opening up, I knew I had to come back. I wanted to try a Michelin starred Omakase this time around. But, everything was either booked or too pricey. Right then and there, I knew I had to go back to...Shinjuku Makoto. We arrived 5 minutes early to our reservation made online to a fairly packed night this time around, but was seated quickly at the counter. there were 4 other people at the counter with us with tables packed behind us. They were EXTREMELY busy this night. the 2 sushi chefs did not stop for a second the whole night! of course, this did make our wait for our food a little longer than normal but I'm not complaining. You get to see the precision, speed, and accuracy of their craft. we went with the Seasonal Delicacies Dinner course which came to around 100 dollars a person. Every piece was perfect and tasted exactly as I remembered it on my first visit. The staff were very friendly and attentive. If you want to try amazing sushi without having to pay Michelin star money, This is the place to go!More

Found this place looking for ‘best sushi near me.’ A group of 4 of us strolled down around 1930 on a Friday evening, it was packed, and it’s not big a big place. We went in and were asked if we had a reservation.. we...didn’t but after some chat between the staff & chef we were shown the last table they had and offered the fixed 7 or 9 course tasting menu… we all opted for the 7 courses and it was AMAZING! The staff were attentive, and the chef was a star. If you’re looking for sushi in Shinjuku go here, you will not be disappointed. Who knew a Sea Urchin could taste so good!More

I didn’t make reservation earlier enough for dine in. Since I stay in the hotel closed by, I decided to order take out. I think I did a good choice since the quality of the sushi is excellent. The toro and uni is so good....I think the food will taste better if I have in dine in but the food is still good with take out. This restaurant is highly recommended especially if you would like to have last minute sushi take out around the Shinjuku area.More

Me and my Girlfriend went to Japan in January 2020 and i wanted to have a really good sushi experience for this trip and i was blown away by how good this place was! The staff were very welcoming and also explained each piece to...us in english as they were made(my favourites were the Chu-toro, Hamachi, and Uni). I would definitely recommend this place to any person coming to Tokyo and wants a really good sushi experience! I will definitely come back next year!More

Visited Makoto Sushi in Nishi-Shinjuku for dinner in January 2020. Makoto Sushi has a few locations in Tokyo. This Shinjuku one we tried was amazing! The chef has been at this location for last 4 years. Wait staff were very friendly and service was prompt....We chose Omakase, 8,000 yen/ person course. Appetizers came quickly and we moved on to sushi. Every was very tasty. One of, if not, the best sushi dinning experience I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.More

Selected the 80,000¥ Omakase dinner. The counter crowd was lively and friendly, sharing sake and doing toasts. A close to 2 hour event. The seasonal sake was a great surprise, smooth and slightly sweet. Chef did an awesome job. Would definitely repeat.

My friend and I had an incredible experience here. We did the nigiri omakase and our chef was both highly skilled and very pleasant company—she was accommodating in speaking English and reported that she actually spent a couple of years living in upstate New York....We were delighted! Highly recommend visiting this place.More

Just down from McDonalds you could miss this one but don’t. The staff are lovely and we had an excellent chef’s selection of Japanese dishes. You’ll need to book this one. Several prospects were turned away. Book early to avoid disappointment.

We visited Tokyo for the first time in April (Sakura Season!) and were staying at one of the major hotels in the Shinjuku area. We stumbled upon this tiny restaurant in a quiet street almost secretly tucked away when we were just wandering around for...dinner. The staff makes sure their diners have a pleasant experience, so we were greeted outside when we inquired about availability. They were unsurprisingly booked that night and the wait staff was apologetic but took it upon themselves to coordinate a reservation for a later date with great patience while we were still in town, which ended up being our last night in Tokyo. We returned for our reservation and they remembered us immediately. They seated us at the counter and we opted for the Chef's Special Course (9-course fixed menu) and picked out two sakes to complement. We had the opportunity to interact with the chef who helped to prepare many of our courses. The menu is different from what most Americans are used to in that it's not strictly sushi; there will be courses that will come out from the kitchen and not contain raw fish. Everyone was friendly in a genuine manner. I accidentally dropped my coat at one point, but it fell into a corner and I figured it'd be too much of a hassle to retrieve. Somehow, the wait staff noticed and managed to return it to the back of my seat without interrupting the dining experience. GENUINE. It's hard to come by being a tourist in a new city and you struggle to speak the language. The the wait and kitchen staff aren't overbearing, but rather encouraging and speak enough English to help you through the meal. They make sure you're well taken care of and don't rush you. They're patient, easygoing, and will embrace you in all your awkward tourist glory. We were humbled by their graciousness. Thank you so much どうもありがとうございます Shinjuku Makoto for the perfect dinner during our last night in Tokyo. We hope to see you again when we return to Japan!More

I'm so sorry I can't remember exactly - I think it was around £50 per person for the whole tasting menu excluding drinks
