We enjoyed a number of breakfasts here as well as an afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was particularly fun because they included a puff of cotton candy at the top of the serving tray because it was cherry blossom season. The hotel offers a buffet...breakfast up in the Peter Restaurant (which has a wonderful view), but we preferred to go with the table service and a set menu at The Lobby. The hotel is close to the convention center, and you will find that many that attend the conventions eat breakfasts and lunches in The Lobby---there are definitely business meetings going on constantly---it actually creates a great buzz to the space. The food is very good, and served with a flair--I would have given it a 5, but there are times when the servers appear to have too many tables. Check out my photos for more details.More

As a general Peninsula fan in other countries, this is a disappointing review for me to write especially given the high level of service one comes to expect from quality Japanese establishments. Last weekend my friends and I dropped by The Lobby for the first...time to try a late breakfast at 10am. After arriving without a booking although noting that the place was almost empty, we were happy to be accommodated at a table but were advised we might only have it for an hour due to lunch starting at 11am, and that our chosen Chinese breakfast (the billboard stated it was 'dim sum, noodles and congee') would take 20 mins to be served to us. When we ordered, we were immediately asked what tea or coffee we would like, we responded politely with a request that we decide on tea/coffee once we had finished our meal which was greeted with a seemingly annoyed look from our waitress. 33 minutes later and the food did arrive which, although tasty, was very underwhelming in terms of portion and service vs price. 4400++ yen for a freshly squeezed juice, 3 dim sum pieces + tiny tea cup-sized bowls of noodles and congee. Subsequently we asked for more juice, 3 congees and 1 more set of 3 dim sum pieces. The 2nd round of congee and dim sum took another 20+ minutes to arrive, in the meantime one of the staff politely reminded us that we had to leave shortly due to lunch commencing (this reminder while most of their tables were still empty, and I also noted a few other patrons that were already there when we arrived still seated at nearby tables chatting away). Before finishing our meals, the bill came which indicated every item of extra dim sum, congee and juice was not covered in the 4400++ yen. After our meals were paid we asked if coffee and tea was included in the bill, which they confirmed. The manager, who took our coffee and tea order, was rude and abrupt I can only assume because we had not vacated the table in the time frame they had initially gave us (it was 11:55am and still they had about 50% of their tables vacant). Our coffee/tea came out within 2 minutes of ordering - clearly so that we would be on our way as fast as possible. I’ve had a few breakfasts across Tokyo’s best hotels in my time. Having said this, despite me finding this particular breakfast relatively sub-par in comparison (3 people paying 22k yen for what amounted to a mildly satisfying breakfast), I could have lived with and not have anything to say about it IF the service accompanying such a bill was top notch corresponding to the Peninsula’s worldwide brand. Unfortunately the service in this instance could not have been more the opposite. Peninsula Tokyo Management, your consistency is now in question according to this Tripadvisor traveller. I hope you take this feedback constructively and do something about it.More

The Lobby, as its name entails, is the hotel's main thoroughfare. Its restaurant space is split in 2, with a perennial centerpiece in the middle to greet incoming guests and restaurant patrons. It serves afternoon tea in what could be considered the traditional British style:...savory canapés, sweet confections with a seasonal note, and that brewed goodness from which the meal derives its name. My friend and I made a reservation for the first "official" holiday of Golden Week 2019 to start things on an elegant, gracious note. Upon reaching the counter and introducing ourselves as guests with reservations (that had been duly accepted by and confirmed numerous times via TableCheck and e-mail), we were briskly informed by a staff member we identified as "Maki" to take a seat in one of the plush couches, as though we were guests *without* confirmed reservations. The service we'd paid for was due to begin at 16:00, but our seating did *not* take place until 10 minutes later, and only after we followed up with another staff member (who seemed flustered that we'd been kept waiting that long). Realizing that perhaps one of his colleagues had been remiss, he gave us a choice of table -- something we appreciated, along with the delicious service of tea. The sakura theme was evident in the confections we'd been served, a fitting nod to spring.More

This is a great peace of art in the lobby of the hotel THE PENINSULA TOKYO. The dragon is protecting the earth! Fine art work! The lobby is not large, so all incoming guests have to past the little restaurant left and right, and also...two little benches for the waiting people. The design is elegant And has style. The people are all well trained and very friendly and polite. The management seems very good at this. The music life from the Balcony needs no amplifier. The acoustic is fine without it.More

I wouldn't seek out this restaurant, but if you stay at The Peninsula this is where you'll have breakfast. The setting is very pleasant, although the restaurant is part of the hotel's entrance lobby. As one would expect, the service is professional and the food...is delicious. If you prefer a breakfast buffet, this is not the place for you (in contrast to the Grand Hyatt Roppongi Hills, which has the best breakfast buffet anywhere).More

This is the tail end but try to get a table for the afternoon tea service at The Lobby for the Sakura themed tea going on now. The Lobby is located on the ground floor of the hotel Peninsula before you get to reception and...is a gorgeous room done in natural wood and currently decorated with blooming cherry tree branches. Live music accompanies the tea giving it a festive feel although at times it was too loud and the pop tunes less than relaxing. The tea itself is served English style with scones, and sweet and savory tiny sandwiches and treats. The presentation is topped with a small serving of sakura flavored cotton candy for two, a whimsical touch. This event is totally family friendly if you find it affordable, children are more than welcome. In fact; they have a special hotel staffer that greets them and provides a memorable photo op but why spoil the surprise? Staff is highly trained and efficient, eager to please and service is top notch. Next month the tea theme will change but it is certainly tempting enough for a return visit. Book well ahead if you are looking for early afternoon sittings.More
