The Bordeaux restaurant in Colesburg is a fantastic place to get a great meal at a good price. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful and service is good. The variety of food is of a high quality and is great value for money. I totally disagree with the PERSON "Chicique Route" - we've been coming for so many years to Bordeaux, and only received the best service and had never been waiting for 10 minutes - really, our experience with Bordeaux were always tranquil, relaxed and always on time, we can really recommend this restaurant!

We stop over in Colesburg twice a year and eating out at Bordeax has become tradition. In the past 5 years we have always been satisfied with our food, service and management. Now that they have Gin on tap getting "refreshments" is much quicker and easier. See you in 11 months

We overnighted in colesburg and had dinner here. Piet Badenhorst is a friendly host and the size and quality of the menu was a pleasant surprise. The skaapstertjies starters, wildspastei and lamb chops were sll tasty and good quality. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through Colesburg.

The Bordeaux restaurant in Colesburg is a fantastic place to get a great meal at a good price. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful and service is good. The variety of food is of a high quality and is great value for money. I recommend the Chicken pie or Lamb Chops and the local craft beer.

Good day Piet and Marlene thank you very much for a very friendly hospitality reception on our arrival on 3 April 2021 very nice room and delicious food (lamb curry and venison pie) served quickly by friendly masked waitress. The history of your ancestors is very interesting and the story about the kakies and horse episode should be read with a little humor as well with al the hardship suffered in those days. Our fourth stay and see you again in October on our way back from Stellenbosch. Regards Louis and Wilna

We had such a good time at this historic restaurant, the best meals and lemon meringue for dessert. Friendly staff and we were sanitized over and over. Gerhard had a homemade BURGER and chips, Johan enjoyed a homemade PIE, well done to the chef. Thanx

We stopped over at Bordeaux on our way to CPT and were so impressed that we came back on our homeward bound trip. The staff and owner are courteous. The food is scrumptious and the setting fantatsic. The Offal, lamb shanks, chops, skaap sterte and so much more was out of this world. The food ilwas on both instances piping hot, fresh and tasty. We have found a new stop over for future trips. Well done Bordeaux...

We have traditionally always eaten at Bordeauxon our stop overs. This time round, as popular as ever but in our opinion it looked a little tired. The food appeared not to be the freshly prepared home cooked, generous portion & tasty dish that we have had previously had, more like a hastily defrosted less tasty version of the lamb shank. Hubby enjoyed his lamb chops but they were on the very small very this side.
The addition of the children's play area right by the tables, since we last visited, made for a very noisy evening of children running around screaming & shouting. Not our favourite night out sadly. We have had far better meals & atmosphere here in the past :(

While the restaurant excelled in delivering exceptional food at a reasonable price, the experience was dampened by the subpar service. With a more attentive and proactive approach from the waitstaff, this establishment has the potential to provide an all-around exceptional dining experience. For now, however, diners may want to temper their expectations when it comes to the service aspect of their meal.

After being on the road and eating burgers an chips all we wanted was a good homemade meal. Bordeaux did not disappoint. With warm countryside hospitality and traditional cooking we had a splendid evening. We also enjoyed the history of how this restaurant came to be. Thank you for your hospitality❤️

My wife and I recently (over the May long weekend) ventured into the Bordeaux restaurant and enjoyed a thoroughly brilliant meal. we were the only guests when we arrived which always feels uncomfortable, but the staff made us feel very welcome and then the place started to fill up with much noise and banter with the other guests which made for a fun evening overall. My wife had the bobotti which tasted brilliant and I loved the Kudu (game) pie. So what if its been prepped beforehand / frozen. Both meals were delicious, the service was quick and pleasant. we will definitely return when next in Colesberg.

On opening the door on a cold winters Karoo night, one is immediately aware of warmth, good cheer and the heavy, beautiful smell of roast lamb.
We sat in the dining room near an cheerful open hearth fire-place. Jackets off.
The dining room has high, pressed tin ceilings. The furniture and decor is Karoo antique, the floors wood. The tables and chairs are comfortable and clean. The building is old.
The menu is pretty extensive, heavily lamb and traditionally Karoo orientated. One of our party was vegetarian and we thought this would be difficult for the restaurant. It wasn’t.
I had lamb ribs. I think they had been boiled before-hand, to soften them, but not to the point of boiled to dryness, or boiling all of that lovely lamb fat away. The ribs were cut into individual pieces, grilled to crispness and basted with an enhancing basting - not a taste killing BBQ sauce. Perfect! The meat was served with a lovely pumpkin. Firm, not watery and not sweetened. Just plain goodness. Also a cabbage/cauliflower bake that the chef could make a million dollars off the recipe if she sold it. Crisp hot chips too.
Veg lasagne + the same veg sides was awesome, according to our vegetarian friend.
The service was friendly, competent and as authentic and local as the food and the restaurant was.
Bordeaux is and it’s staff are an asset to Colesberg. I wish I had stayed longer than one night.
I will be back.

What a great experience! The waitress was knowledgeable and very clever with her suggestions. We appreciated it very much the extra effort as we were tired after a long trip. The tea were very refreshing - well done. O yes, the food were very tasty and I suggest the lamb shank and the chops!

On arrival the owner was busy on her phone. After standing around gor about 10 minutes she directed us that we could sit anywhere and continued with her conversation.
When the waited another 20 minutes for someone to bring us menus or to take our drink order, but with no luck. The personnel walked past us, the only table in the restaurant several times, not wearing masks or handling any Covid19 protocol. So 30 minutes in, we decided to leave. We walked out and not a single person said or tried to do anything.
Definitely not a place I would recommend.

They have a property amount of food choices on the menu. The food is great, very fresh for a really good price and portions. The staff is very friendly and helpful with recommendations on the food and wine.
Everything is clean and well spaced with a kids playground.
The restaurant has a long history in Coleberg. They have a 100 year old grape vine at the outdoor seating area.
