Best Cake in the Karoo

In an effort to support local business on our pass through Colesberg, we opted to have breakfast at this charming little bistro. A crackling fire welcomed us into the quaintly decorated interior, and upon our entrance to the dining area, a display table of salivating cakes and quiches set our hearts on a sweet ending. The freshly brewed espresso-based coffees were top notch, and our breakfasts were well prepared and presented. I highly recommend ordering a portion of proper, home-made, fresh chips - they set the restaurant at which we had dinner, to shame. We ordered chocolate cake to go and once more, we were not disappointed. The generous slice proved more than enough for two. If you spent the night in town, you'd be well rewarded to have breakfast here before setting out to the fuel station. I will most certainly return on my way back to Gauteng in a few days.

Excellent Meal

Great service and delicious food. Burger was probably the best I'd had for a long time. Also had a delicious gluten free fish (dry grilled, no flour or spice) and chips. Staff were very knowledgeable and understanding about making sure my son's meal was gluten free.

This beautiful coffee shop has informal seating inside and out with patrons enjoying hearty meals and glorious baked cakes, pastries, tarts, pies, biscuits, sweets, etc. The baked treats are clearly baked with love and passion. Presentation is picture perfect and the coffee is good too! The experience waitrons provide personal and professional service. Fabulous and well priced decor items available too. Ideal for heavenly baked eats.

Coffee was cold(maybe heat your cups before serving) and not strong enough. Waiter messed up the order and we waited 1 hour for 5x toasted open sandwiches and one wrap while only one other table of 2 was there. Menu says Avocado but our open sandwich had guacamole on and not fresh avocado. Shop is neat and clean. But staff can be better.

Best Ever!

We recently celebrated my mom's 80th b'day at this awesome coffee shop/ restaurant. We did it in Colesberg as we are all scattered over the country so it was central for all of us. From the minute I contacted the owner to talk about decorations, supplying a cake and making the occasion special for my mom, I just got helpfulness of the highest quality. Monique was amazing with everything, the food was fantastic and the cake that the kitchen staff baked and decorated was amazing. I can't say thank you enough for all the help and giving all of us the best food and birthday for my mom.

Surprise of the day!!

What a lovely surprise this place was. Recommended by a random stranger, we went there with trepidation only to find excellent food, good service and a setting that was completely unexpected. This place manages to combine a rural and old-time setting with an upmarket, modern and big-city menu and feel. Well done. We will visit again.

We visited the restaurant and we first had a look what the rating and recommendations are. So everyone said the “lamb pie” we ordered and were totally disappointed as this came as a quiche,Not even close to the foto and really not tasty ! The burger we also ordered were okay but really not wow! Overall the waitress were friendly and the place is clean. I feel there was more here that they offered

An intentional quirk in an

An intentional quirk in an otherwise tired Quick Stop landscape. The juxtaposition of French country and the Karoo is fun. Accompanying quirky playlists will keep reminding you of its intent and the atmosphere is one of a certain charm. The service and food failed to deliver an equally refreshing accompaniment to what could have been a truly great eccentric experience. With a few tweaks, the oddly paired flavours that don’t work together and the staff who listen half awake and disengaged could be made to match the noteworthy Nineteen Eighty Nine packaging.

What a cullinary gem in the Karoo!

Getting hungry on our way to Colesberg, we had to find a coffee shop where we could have a decent breggie. What a surprise! A lovely little place with interesting gifts and homemade eats. The breakfasts were amazing and the cakes to die for. Well worth the turn-off from the main road.

What a beautiful place. The food was incredible, the value for money was great and the atmosphere was delightful. Its the kind of place you want to explore and you can. Clean, warm, homely and comfortable. Really a great experience.

What a wonderful experience. Food was magnificent, service fantastic , prices totally reasonable. Best of all was an hidden antique shop. The most beautiful items, I just want to go back there with a trailer. Glad we decided only on breakfast menu, as even only those choices were hard to make and everything sounded divine. 🌸

We were on our way to Mosselbay from Bloemfontein and were short on time! We called ahead, ordered our breakfast and coffee. When we got there, all was ready for us. Pretty little place ! Great food and great friendly service!

Wonderful stop for breakfast.

We had a wonderful breakfast here, food was delicious, staff were wonderful, the service was great. The setting was a quaint old house . They also had lots of knick knacks for sale.
