Cozy atmosphere, yummy food

Wonderfully cozy on a cold Winters night. The very reasonably prized Kleine Zalze Cab warmed us up, so did the perfectly cooked lamb chops and veg. Finished off with good old malva pudding and custard. Warm friendly service. Next time I'll be back for the yummy looking pizzas.

Great restaurant and impressive accomodation

Visited Inni Kraal Restaurant when we slept over on our way to our holiday destination early December 2019 and enjoyed an awesome dinner. Good food, great atmosphere and friendly service. On our way back from our holiday destination early January 2020 we not only visited Inni Kraal Restaurant but also made use of their stay-over accomodation. The latter is a very comforable, neat and clean family unit situated next to the restaurant. We forgot two cellphones at the accommodation unit. Hein (jnr) from Inni Kraal went out of his way to arrange the return of the cellphones to the rightful owners in Pretoria a few days later. We will be visiting them again for sure in future.

I had dinner at the restaurant on 28 Sep. It was my second visit in four years, and it's just as good. I selected the pea & feta soup, followed by a rump steak (both shown on the blackboard menu). Both were perfect. The restaurant was quiet that evening, but the staff were nevertheless attentive without being obsequious. Definitely a return upon my next visit to Colesberg.

Nice, and also not

My husband ordered lamb chops, with salsa and chips. He did confirm with the waitress what the salsa consists of, which by the way, is just a very small bowl of chopped cucumber, tomatoe and onion. When the "salsa" was brought to the table, my husband decided that he did not want it after all, as it is not sausy at all, and asked to cancel the " salsa" and have a cheese sause instead. We were informed that it is not possible and we will be charged for the cheese sauce. An enchange of reasoning ensued with a man, assuming a.manager, needles to say they maintained not to oblige. We left it at that, however, shortly afterwards, another manager or chef(?) appeared from the kitchen and very abrubtly persued the disagreement over the " salsa". We finished our dinner, which was, not bad, however it was disappointing to experience these smalltown folk being so hostile towards strangers.

Good day 007Rickyb First off we'd like to address the statement that "small town folk" are hostile towards strangers. Your husband was making a scene (so much so that it could be heard in the kitchen) and causing our staff and other guests noticeable discomfort, therefore the owners felt it necessary to address and defuse the situation as quickly as possible. We pride ourselves in offering an upmarket experience even in a small town, and therefore do not accept unruly behavior on our premises. As you mentioned, the waitress did explain what the fresh salsa consisted of and your husband accepted the order as-is. As the waitress also explained, we can unfortunately not exchange a side for a sauce that is made with cream and cheese since it is more expensive to produce. We do not feel that this is unreasonable and warranting such a volatile reaction from your husband. Perhaps he was tired from the drive but that does not mean that he can go to a public place and have outbursts, expecting staff and business owners to just tolerate it while their other guests are made to feel unwelcome in what is meant to be a safe and serene environment.

What a pleasant gem this is !! A real family-run vibe and the service is brilliant. Hein, you are a super host. It was great to see how much love you all put into the business and your customers. I highly recommend you visit them - they have a large selection of meals that cater for everyone. Service = 10 Food = 9 Atmosphere = 9 Will I be back = 10 for sure

A good evening out

We enjoyed our dinner and evening out. My wife had the Lamb Curry and I chose to go with two starters, the biltong soup and "skaapstertjies". The curry was excellent. i had a bit of a mishap in that the pepper grinder fell apart and a handful ended in my soup. The manager saw this happen, duly apologised and called for replacement, which took some time. Then, where the first serving was thick and hearty the second was watery but edible. This is definitely a place to visit again.

This place has a lovely setting and the staff were friendly. My meal of lamb potjie was fantastic and I highly recommend it. My husband meal of chicken schnitzel was average and my kids didn’t eat their pizza. Also, I have an issue with the outside ( only place they had space) being a smoking area. I don’t want to be around smokers at any time especially not a restaurant.

Lots of promise, bit rough at the edges

InniKraal appears as a haven of neat, attractive civility in this little dorp, both on arrival and in stepping inside. Extensive menu & drinks list, visually appealing food. We had a foccacia and salads, and this is where the rough edges come through: salads were undressed and dry, even though the ingredients were fresh (couple of bone bits in the chicken), and the focacia (and other pizzas we saw) came out of the oven flatter than the Karoo - no leavening and a bit stodgy. And being shouted at on the first page of the menu about minimum service charges (tips) or formal escalation was a bit off-putting, but the service was excellent, so at least we didn't have to face the consequences...

Excellent suggestion

It was suggested that we try this place instead of our normal favorite and it was an excellent suggestion. It started with a warm welcome, proper Covid protocols and very good service. The food choice although limited was interesting and it was worth the wait. Lamb shank was excellent and big. You could taste the karoo flavours. Wife had the Karoo lamb chops which was also very good. Food was washed down by some good red, and it wasn't overpriced to break the bank. Worth another visit when we next pass through Colesberg.

My new fave Colesberg restaurant

Lovely indoor and outdoor seating areas, plenty of space, attentive staff. My lamb curry was delicious, my wife's pizza good, though the base too soft and "bready". Highlight for me was Darling Brewery beers on tap (lager and pale ale) - so refreshing after the usual SAB mediocity.

We arrived quite early and without having booked a table. We were warmly received by our waitress, Chanté. We ordered the lamb chops and requested that they be well done and the fat crispy with a bit of lemon. They were cooked to perfection For desert we had the Malva Pudding with hot custard. This was also good although the custard was a bit runny. Chanté was extremely attentive and the overall experience was excellent

Good choice even on a busy night.

Visited on 31 Dec and it was busy. Still good but not as good as our first impression. The lamb shank wasn't as tender as I had remembered but my wife and son both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Apparently should also recommend the lamb chops and the lamb potjie. Service is good. Prices are higher than you might expect but it's still a very good option in Colesburg.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, excellent food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. A hidden gem. We didn't know places like this existed in Colesberg. We had lamb chops, chicken wings and salad, all delicious and tasty. Well done Inni Kraal!!

Amazing restaurant - great hearty meals, cosy space and superb service Thank you so much for the yummy food, warm, kind welcome and atmosphere. The carrot ginger soup was delicious and the curry lamb potjie was perfect. Loved the malva pudding and the indoor fireplace Hope to visit again soon

We found the restaurant convenient we were going to get pizza for dinner the pizza was still raw and the malva pudding priced at R70 was over cooked and over priced as it was not the best meal we have eaten in a long time. Our bill was R455 for 2 people. In Willowmore we ate at the Royal hotel had lamb shank & Curry lamb it was delicious and only cost R315 for two people. Well done Willomore!
