Good food and lovely setting on the Meander. River was in flood so it was quite something to behold the sight and sound while enjoying a good meal. Friendly management and staff.

Oh wow. What a stunning find. The mutton curry! Friendly and peaceful setting right next to the river. Thank you Granny for your fabulous Roti.

Found this restaurant by accident, but what a beautiful accident. Gorgeous setting, friendly staff and perfect food. What more can you ask for. I had the lambcuttlets, my wife the Butter Chicken curry and we both raved about the presentation and the quality of taste....If you are in this area, you must try this restaurant.More

What a complete disaster! We have visited Caversham Mill Restaurant for years, and absolutely love the location and setting. But we arrived today, and were shocked at the terrible service, and less than great food. To be fair, we ordered two curries which were really...nice, but the vegan salad was an oily mush of re-heated stir-fried veggies (my wife couldn't eat it)! But the real disappointment was the service... Our waitress knew nothing about the menu, could not understand a single order we placed (we had to point out each item on the menu, as she copied it down onto her notepad), brought the wrong drinks, was sick (wore a face mask the whole service) and sniffed and snorted the whole time, and generally couldn't be bothered with us. There was no management (well, it looked as if a manager was floating around, but he wasn't doing any managing...). There were only 3 tables (and about 7 staff), so workload cannot be a contributing factor. We won't return...More

Was a great venue but since under new management the service was really poor. They no longer do traditional bacon and eggs as a breakfast

We found this place by accident and what a gem! The setting is fabulous overlooking a delightful waterfall whose sound is some of the best background "music" one could have for eating! The menu caters for most South Africa tastes as well as Indian food...lovers. Presentation was top class and service was timeous. We came on Easter Sunday and the place was fully booked, but the owners were very gracious and made a plan to help! Their attitude and welcoming staff, coupled with delicious food means we will be back!More

Caversham restaurant, just off the R103 on a dirt road is an absolute must when in this area. Recently (Apr 2023) opened again. Be prepared to wait if you want freshly made traditional Indian curries and many other options. It's well worth it. Excellent food,...great view and really nice staff. Great hot meal.More

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch. The new owners (at last !) are delightful and bring a whole new vibe and menu to Caversham. We share two portions of samoosa’s as a starter + they were delicious - piping hot and crisp ! The kids loved...their chicken strips and buffalo wings, both served with chips - buffalo wings with two perfect sauces, blue cheese and soya. Other orders were Hake and Chips, Pesto Pasta and Toasted Mutton sandwich - absolutely no complaints, all delicious. The Cheesecake is a whole story of its own - beautifully presented with a citrus topping. May the new family owners go from strength to strength - thank you for a most enjoyable and thoroughly affordable lunch.More

The menu was a few very Limited items written on a blackboard. In fact so limited we all ended up with a chicken pie at R190 each . We couldn’t justify a pile of mash with a few carrots and green beans that came with...the equivalent of possibly one stringy chicken breast in pastry. The manager was very unfriendly and unhelpful and informed us there was no other menu apart from the chalk board, however the large party next to us were offered lamb shank. The waiter was excellent. All around we were as 6 adults very disappointed in what was once a top midlands restaurant, and will not be returning to this now long gone gem .More

We stayed near by and were looking for a dinner venue. It looked pleasant enough so we went. The service was non existent even though the restaurant was extremely quiet for a Friday night. They seam to only have one waiter who is slow and...uninterested . The wine was unopened put on the table and we had to pour our own. The Thai chicken curry was mediocre and on top expensive . We shall not go again .More

After having a terrible meal at the BISTRO we hoped that Caversham Mill would be better, and it definitely was - the meal was prepared perfectly, tasted good and the service was good. I will visit again.

Such an eclectic and varied menu and seeing as we were a large party, we decided to each order something different and share. It was all wonderful and add to that the beauty of the falls beyond it made for a perfect evening. Lovely, lovely.

After arriving at a busy Caversham mill, we were “squeezed in” for a lunch with a great view. Unfortunately we waited over an hour to be seated, and while waiting we ordered a cappuccino (which was fine) and a craft beer. The craft beer was...flat, and I sent it back, only to receive THE EXACT same beer back. We proceeded to stick it out and wait patiently for our seat. Once seated, we weren’t provided with a menu and we were just told that it was confusing even for the owner. The menu was on a board with a very limited range of meals. I ordered a rib-eye steak because I was not sure of what the other meals were like and my partner ordered lamb chops. The rib eye was not even a rib eye cut of meat, I could hardly cut through the sinew in the meat and having ordered a medium rare I expected the meat to be reasonably moist and not as dry as a cork. I decided to eat the 3 potato wedges on my plate, which tasted chalky and were probably recycled from the previous dissatisfied customer’s plate. My partner shared her lamb with me, due to the fact that I could hardly eat anything on my plate. The lamb was disappointing, but edible at least. After pushing our food aside, we proceeded to try and get a waiters attention for the next 15 minutes. If a waiter came to our table 3 times during our time there it was a lot. But hey, they have a great view???Lol. After not being helped by a waiter or waitress, we decided to pay at the front of the restaurant. The manager met us with a charming smile, and asked us how our meal was. We voiced our dissatisfaction and he smoothed it over by removing my Rib-eye steak from the receipt, however I was still to pay for the rest of the overpriced and very poor meal. He then told us that he has been receiving poor meat from the butcher, and that it was because it was “a busy weekend”. He stated that he was not satisfied with the quality of the burger patty meat he had received that day/week, and described how poor the quality was. WE SAW A MINIMUM OF 5 PEOPLE EATING THOSE BURGERS. I asked him why he kept it on the menu, only to have him change the subject. If I were you, wait in line at Piggly Wiggly or somewhere else nearby. They might even answer the phone when you try and make a reservation. I am not a fussy person when it comes to food, I went to boarding school and I would rather eat that then have what I was served at this restaurant. I hope you make the wise choice to drive on when doing your midlands meander.More
