Came with family as never eaten before in this place. Inside was very nicely done out and the staff extremely nice and curtious. The good was cooked extremely well and was super tasty The kids had the ribs and struggled to finish them they were great It's not cheap so for us would be special occasions rather than once a week

25 people in the norton room, food and service was great, planning by Kate and Pete was very helpful and everything was executed as I had hoped. I was able to dress the room as we wanted. All the guests commented on how good the food was which is what you want for a big gathering. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a room for a similar event. Thank you 😊

Visited for a weekday lunch. Firstly the negative.I have to say I was surprised that we weren’t asked to sanitise our hands on arrival, menus weren’t the paper disposal type and that the majority staff didn’t wear face coverings. The cutlery, drinks and food came on trays, but it wasn’t clear if we were to take them off the trays or be waited on. Customers were allowed to walk to the toilets not wearing masks. When tables were cleared they were sanitised but not the chairs. The plus side the food, especially the desert ( cheesecake) was very nice and our waitress was lovely. Overall wouldn’t rush back as I didn’t feel that they had an effective handle on covid safety and I didn’t feel 100%safe. There are places making much more effort.

Booked last minute for a birthday meal for three. Each had a main and dessert. Two of us ordered the hake fillet Thai green curry which came with a naan bread. Really not a great dish. The naan was still quite doughy in the centre and the green curry sauce was really gloopy consistency and had started to form a skin over the top. It wasn’t pleasant. Neither of us enjoyed the dish which was a shame. We also ordered desserts - x2 sticky toffee pudding and 1 lemon cheesecake. These weren’t great either. Service was prompt all night. All the food and drinks came in at just over £80. For the price, the food massively missed the mark. I’ve had much better for much less. We won’t be back, unfortunately.

First and foremost, the food was excellent as it has always been on our previous visit. This review is all about the "Covid-19 Secure Dining Experience". 1) It was like trying to cross the German Border in 1939 to get through the door. 2) The Owner was very rude and condescending when explaining the Covid-19 rules and watched like a hawk as each of us sanitised our hands making a hand-wringing motion. 3) They had crammed so many tables into the main dining area in front of the kitchen that it looked like a Polling Station with the cream coloured partitions. My vote still went to Boris! 4) The Waitress was unengaging, even though only wearing a clear visor, just placed things down on the table and walked off with little or no interaction. 5) Midway through our Mains, the Owner slid a partition along the floor in between our table of 5 and another table of 2, which had loads of space, to make room for "Two tables of four without a partition". Dianne Abbot would probably count that as a party of 10! The Owner said "This will make you safer", suggesting we weren't safe enough before. He just needed somewhere to stash it and didn't warn us it was coming. Never going back!

Went for dinner on my birthday with my wife, daughter and son-in-law. Pete has got the covid secure stuff down to a fine art and as far as I was aware, fully compliant as we all felt entirely safe. All four of us thought the food was absolutely fabulous and the front of house team were all extremely attentive and pleasant. The Bull's Head was our number one pub/restaurant to walk to but it is definitely now going to be the Plough. Highly recommended.

We had a marvelous crispy beef with Korean BBQ noodles takeaway last week the flavours were amazing. During these times our takeaway meals from the Plough are the highlight of the week, they are always piping hot and served with a smile. The pub itself is spotlessly clean and collection times are staggered for social distancing. Keep up the good work

When we first arrived there was a problem with our booking, but the staff were absolutely fantastic and took pity on us with our two hungry children. Despite the restaurant being fully booked they cleared a table for us in the bar and could not be more apologetic or accommodating. The food was delicious, the service was speedy and we were made to feel very welcome. We would definitely recommend and if we’re passing through the area again, we will be sure to come back.

I’ve written before but o my goodness how good are the takeaways. Tonight my husband had the duck special - really enjoyed it and I tried the beef Wellington which was huge and amazing. If you haven’t tried it do can’t recommend it enough and brings a bit of normality back enjoy.

I went earlier today for my friends birthday. It was very packed and the place had a lovely vibe. The staff were all friendly and went out their way by doing a special happy birthday plate for her dessert. Everyone else was there but i was late as had work and they did my food order and kept it warm for when I arrived. The owner also extended our time on the table for 45 minutes so that I could take my time to eat and enjoy my dinner and get a dessert. FYI the caesar salad, chips and sticky toffee pudding were all incredible! Best sticky toffee pudding I've ever had! (And I've had my fair share). The brownie was also delightful. The place was outdoors but there were heaters and nice seats so we were comfortable. The toilets were nice and had sanitiser pads on the doors. Will definitely be back again soon!

Despite previous review we have had three or four lunches at the Plough within the last month ,and felt totally relaxed about the virus control there . There was a Facebook video before they reopened which was very good . They telephoned before every visit to check regarding our health and whether we had been abroad etc within 14 days of our visit . On arrival we were asked for our details for track & trace ,and every member of staff was wearing face covering . Food and drink were brought on trays for us to lift off . Hand sanitiser was available . The food was delicious as was the wine .

Really excited to visit the Plough again with a friend after having had a lovely meal there about 18 months ago. The service was excellent however the food wasn't great. Not much choice for a lunch very expensive for the main meal.Tried a cheaper dish which which arrived with a very strong sauce and too many mixed flavours with pasta. WE couldn't taste the lamb as it was smothered with regu and feta cheese

Throughout booking, arrival and during our evening the food and service was impeccable. The food was piping hot, drinks served attentively and staff very friendly. However unfortunately it took a turn when we came to pay the bill. One of the waitress in particular was obviously unhappy with the fact that we had decided ( baring in mind on the website it states this is totally acceptable and at the customers discretion) to reject the £90 tip that was added as an additional service charge. We did still however give an acceptable sum for a tip, it wasn’t as if we didn’t intend to tip. We simply just thought that £90 was not something we agreed with. Not only did she raise her concerns to another waiter, she then had the receipt and inspected it herself which I just think is wrong. It was just a shame, it didn’t ruin the evening but did simply make us feel uncomfortable and that her service in particular was somewhat false. Thank you to all others who made our evening special and memorable.

Four of us visited the Plough last night to sample the Curry evening. There were 5 different curries to choose from along with side dishes, all of which were really tasty, my vegetable biryani was delicious and the king prawn curry was highly praised. The management and staff were really attentive and polite and we are looking forward to returning soon.

Called in today on the off chance we could get a table for lunch ( we hadn’t booked). We were swiftly shown to a table, which they needed back at 5.00. As it was only around 2.00 this suited us fine. Decided to go for the Christmas menu, and really wish we hadn’t. Prawn cocktail starter - was ok, but lacked any real flavour. There was plenty of it, but would have preferred less but with more flavour. Then our roast turkey with all the usual trimmings arrive. The slices of turkey, roast potatoes and pigs in blankets were fine. As was the mixed green veg. However I’ve never in my life tasted such disgusting stuffing! It was a square slab of flavourless, inedible, grey stodge. It had no resemblance to any stuffing I’ve ever seen before, certainly not like any stuffing I’ve made myself. I tentatively took a small bite and quickly decided I didn’t want any more, as did my husband. The dish of sprouts were also inedible - they looked like leftover ones from yesterday which had been fried to a dark brown finish. Truly horrible. We pointed out to the waitress how poor they were, and the lady owner/manager came and apologised and offered more veg which we declined. The desserts did nothing to save the day. My crème brûlée with shortbread biscuits, whilst having a nice crisp top, was stodgy with a grainy texture. The sticky toffee pudding my husband had was dry, with an underwhelming portion of caramel sauce and ice cream With two pints of beer and a glass of Sauvignon the bill was just over £79. A definite decline in the standard of food we’ve enjoyed there in the past, I’m afraid we won’t be returning.
