On a hot day dropped in as they have overhead spray. Met at door jokingly said we came for water(Spray) and prawns and wine. Whipped to our table and confirmed order. Prawns great and wind chilled. Great meal and great service Will call again

You can dine on the front terrace or in the garden area at the back. The pork belly with crackling, spicy red cabbage and garlic mash was delicious. Although the restaurant was quite busy the service was excellent and the waiter attentive.

I ordered steak and was asked how I choose to have it. I always order my steak medium rare. When it came, it was medium to well done and also the cut was thin to thick. When sent back, The waiter told me that the chef asked to return to me as (in his opinion) it WAS medium rare. The... More

A good place to sit outside at the top of the square and watch the world pass by, while enjoying a very good dinner (the chef came out to personally ensure it was satisfactory) and local red wine. Friendly and cheerful staff made it a pleasant evening.

We were on our way to Tulbugh and stopped in Riebeek Kasteel for lunch, we first went to the Secret Garden right next to the bistro. The service was good, unfortunately they don't tell you about the specials or other meals being served ( the other menu was behind me) I was given the normal menu and wasn't too hungry... More

Food and service of a very good quality Pity that the owners / chefs did not take the trouble to mingle with guests or to find out if the meal is up to standard ...and both of them were on the premises

Guess we made the mistake of ordering from the regular menu and not the daily special menu. Waited more than 30 minutes for our food. The Sirlion steak was mostly fat and sinews and was pale and unappetising. Mushroom sauce was passable, but the chips was greasy and cold and the vegetables so undercooked I could not cut them with... More

I had the special of the day: Thick-cut slow-baked beef shin on-the-bone with its own marrow, drizzled with a Gorgonzola and Dijon mustard gravy and served on a bed of tomato couscous and buttered spinach. The meet was soft and perfectly cooked. Had a local rosè wine, also amazing! Highly recommended restaurant.

Another twice visited place and well worth eating here. The linen, cutlery and crockery are a bit more upmarket than the Mama Cucina, but they have slow service in common. 1) our first visit was for luncheon after the drive up from Somerset West. Jill had Pork Belly (R125) with a lot of crackling and a side of vegetables: I... More

Wow, thanks for the effort of writing such a comprehensive review! Sincere apologies for the service and sauce issues; maybe one of us can come wash your car every week until we're forgiven? Wish all reviews were this informative and balanced. More
