Stepped in while there was load shedding - so no power at the place - however they told us that they could cook anything on the menu. We ordered a vegan dish - baked butternut squash filled with rocket salad, quinoa, nuts and more goodies. It was SO good. Yes, we ordered the one dish that needs time to prepare, so we were super hungry when it finally came. Oh, and I asked if they could do some handcut chips to avoid the frozen ones. But of course, and they were great too. I would go there again. And I would love to spend an evening there too for dinner and maybe a minor hangover the next day. It is that cozy. Go there!

The lamb madras curry was superb - the best I’ve tasted - off the bone and served with both a roti and popadom and condiments - really delicious. The homemade chicken pie was excellent too. We also loved the entire French theme of the garden and indoor seating. We will definitely be back.

Great food, we had pizza and curry. Pizza was on thin crust and fresh ingredients- curry was fine..on Wednesday you get all curries and free glass of wine or beer ans on Thursday- same with main course. My partner send her pizza back because she likes crisp bacon and menu said crisp bacon but was not. Wine overpriced !! There was also a log fire burning !

Last year we went for a couple of nights stay, midweek, to Cafe Felix in Riebeek Kasteel. We were both thoroughly disappointed for a number of reasons. Firstly our room left a lot to be desired & neither of us put any clothes in the wardrobe which really was disgusting - the room badly needs a re-vamp. Curtains falling of the hooks at the windows whilst the bathroom fittings were modern but really out of place in the tiny bathroom which, by the way, did not possess a toilet roll so we went out & bought. There was no chair or stool in the room where one could comfortably sit and no means of making a hot drink in the room. Room service was Nil for the two nights we stayed over. There was a small kitchen off the rooms however with a small microwave, a kettle and a few chipped cups which we certainly did not fancy drinking from. There was also a very tiny lounge off the kitchen with only two occasional chairs and the one & only TV was in the dining room. When we arrived we were asked to choose from the Menu & book a table for dinner that evening which we did. However when we went for dinner at the time booked we found the table we had chosen to sit was already occupied and then, to add insult to injury, we were also told that "sorry, they only had one portion of the meal we had chosen & that we must choose something else from their Menu". The prices on the Menu are by no means cheap so we said that we were only prepared to pay the cost of the meal we had previously booked and obviously they had no choice but to go along with this. This was early in the evening about 6.30 or 7.00 p.m. so there was no excuse for the shortage of our preferred dish. The following evening we went out to eat at a very nice Restaurant 'The Barn' just further along the road. The pool was dirty & the whole place really needs painting & updating. This was definitely a first & last visit for us.

This review has been posted by a fraudster by the name of West. He left without paying and when I chased him for payment. ( he by the way left the room in a disgusting state ), he threatened to post awful reviews all over. He is a liar and a fraudster.

You would never know what magic was behind the walls if you just drove past this place. WOW! Thank goodness we didn't. We were recommended to stay here for our weekend away. We arrived early evening and were greeted by a cosy fire burning in a metal basket under the most enormous tree. The courtyard was so pretty with the water feature up some steps, all the plants, the rustic paraphernalia and the magnificent lamps on either side of the front doors to Cafe Felix. We were met with a huge smile by Claudia who took us to our room which had French doors onto our own little patio by the pool. Dinner was delicious and Malcolm, the very charming owner, introduced us to some lovely wines and places to visit in the valley. We love our white wine and had some Marras chenin blanc. Amazing. Thank you Claudia for the excellent service and for all the recommendations Malcolm. The G&T on the stoep at the Royal was indeed a treat. We loved our stay here and will most certainly be back.

We booked a table for the Friday evening. Table was ready and everything was fine. We ordered two main courses. Chicken curry and Norwegian salmon. The fish portion in comparison to other restaurants was very small, the taste and quality was fine and we did not mention this as the weight of the portion is not specified on the menu and we should have asked. The curry however was burnt and it was dry cubes of chicken coated with a very little curry sauce. You could not taste the curry it had absolutely no flavour. The rice was fine, but rice without a long curry sauce is terrible. I did mention the curry, not the fish to the waitress. She said okay and left us. We decided not to have desserts or coffee and left very disappointed. We have had great meals there before. It is very disappointing that management did not attend to the comment I made about the curry. I left the burned pieces of chicken on the plate. Unfortunately they wil not see me again. There are too many good restaurants in the town.

Very friendly welcome during load shedding (local power cut) on a drizzly and chilly evening, with two indoor fireplaces contributing to the warm and cozy atmosphere with an abundance of candles adding to the romantic ambience. Extremely tasty Wednesday Night Special choice of chicken or lamb curry, accompanied by an excellent free glass of locally produced wine. Real value for money! We rounded off the meal with a delicious lemon cheesecake. The staff were all efficient, friendly and attentive. We would definitely return and recommend Café Felix.

Having booked the previous evening only to find they had no back up power so were closed we shifted to the next night. A large indoor and outdoor dining area were both hardly occupied. Starters of fish cakes and yum yum prawn salad both very nice and mains of kingclip and linguine also wholesome. Friendly service, nice local wine list and well worth visiting.

We had excellent food and service at Cafe Felix. My wife is pescatarian and really enjoyed the fish cakes and the madras vegetable curry which she really enjoyed. My sister had The chicken curry and the rest of us had the pork belly which was great.

First time in many years we had dinner back at Cafe Felix and the same cozy, excellent restaurant hasn't changed at all!! It is still excellent, in fact many Cape Town restaurants could learn a thing or two from Cafe Felix! The meals the group ordered were all excellent. We ordered the pork belly, salmon, deconstructed chicken pie, salads and pizzas were all amazing and the seriously good value for money ... in fact a big too generous. The wine list was more than adequate; service was good and the atmosphere made even better with good music and cozy fires! I would not hesitate to recommend Cafe Felix and it is definitely in the diary for a revisit! PS: Staying in the Old Manor is a treat too and should not be missed either!

This was our favorite place. Met friends there to impress - just awful! Everything a cheap imitation of the great food that used to be served. Tom Yum salad terrible - no taste. Chicken pie just had pastry plonked on top of chicken and huge potatoes . Coffee was ok!! So sad about this 🥲

We visited cafe Felix as part of a very large group, which is not the easiest to cater for. In spite of this we enjoyed ourselves hugely and we also liked being able to sit outside under the full moon. The food was good, while the calamari starter could have been a mains and I would have eaten it all. Friendly service.

My dad lives in Riebeek West and my sister and I went out to visit him for his 90th birthday. He chose Cafe Felix as the place to celebrate it at. I emailed Malcolm to book a table and told him of the occasion and that I had some table decorations. He advised me to drop them down before the day which I did. When we arrived on the day, the table was laid out beautifully, especially for us in the shade. The meal was fantastic, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed it. They presented my dad wiith a bottle of bubbly at the begining of the meal and at the end the staff all came out with a birthday cake and all sang happy birthday. Thank you so much Malcolm and all your staff for making it such a memorable day

There is an interesting and varied menu, the option of indoor and outdoor dining and a good choice of local wines. Our food was well prepared, tasty and served promptly. We would definitely return the next time we are in the town.

Thank you to Jeanne and Andrew for making our stay at Cafe Felix so enjoyable. We stayed with friends in the Manor - which was so lovely and private. Everything from the delicious dinner, to the breakfast and our attentive hosts, made it a celebration to be remembered. We will be back!
