Can you imagine a 5 course diner for 148 Rand? I couldn't, but it does happen at the Royal Restaurant in Riebeek Kasteel. The only thing you have to do except for enjoying your food to the max is to make a reservation before 5 pm. After an a la carte dinner the night before, we chose this option. And... More

On our way to Joburg from an amazing safari with lots of great impressions, we stopped for a lunch break in Pilgrimsrest at the Royal Hotel's restaurant. A good choice, given the meals we had. The restaurant, situated on the Main street, in a hotel, wouldn't attract people just for the sake of the food if it wasn't for the... More

The restaurant at the Royal Hotel is really stunning. As we stayed in the Royal Hotel as we do almost every year we enjoyed breakfast - lunch and diner. Served by the friendly staff the food was really delicious as allways. A great 5 course diner was served for rand 148 absolutely fantastic. As every year we really enjoyed dining... More

We went for supper and everything was extremely nice and very friendly waiters. My steak was a bit underdone, but rather under than over.

The Royal Hotel, simply the best. with our family we have had a wonderful time in the south of Africa visiting the best hotels advised by Centurion/ AMEX. Except from the royal hotel in Riebeek Kasteel! this hotel was the best we have been to. The atmosphere, the hospitality, the service, the rooms, even the breakfast has 3 courses (a... More

The Royal Hotel in Riebeek is one of my favorites. And I know exactly why, when I had diner there this week. As a guest staying in the hotel, the welcoming staff explained to me the possibility of having a 5 course diner for only 125 Rand a person. I had to order before 5 pm, which I happily did.... More

Description
Simplicity, imagination and quality of produce are key at The Royal. Head chef Francois du Toit (La Colombe, Manna Epicure) believes that food should be honest. If you say tomato it must taste like tomato, if you say fillet you should get the best our country has to offer. This philosophy together with the use of modern equipment (such as the use of Sous-Vide and Pacojet) results in creative but unpretentious dishes with "taste" as main ingredient.
