This Royal Restaurant is a special experience: set in one of the oldest hotels in RSA, with a definite colonial feel to it. Lovely terrace with ceiling fans, old, comfy sofa chairs, just the place to sip your cocktails. The restaurant and lounge has big...More

Sour oats, sacrificed tomatoes, eggs not done as requested. Out of 8 breakfast orders only 2 people did not complain. Service also very very slow.

I have eaten at this hotel previously, and enjoyed it. This time we just had G&T's on the stoep, overlooking the valley. Very colonial and very pleasant. Will go back.

Restaurants in Riebeek Kasteel need to be of a very high standard to successfully compete with each other. This one fell a bit short. The duck was tough, the foie gras was missing and the sweet potato clawingly sweet. Very friendly staff and a good...More

Really good old fashioned service. Excellent meal. The staff were great. Comfy room and excellent bathroom. Only problem maybe our room was too close to reception so a bit noisy! Great to able to order tea and coffee at any time

One of the best places to stay & dine in the Western Cape! Impressive heritage. Fabulous room with a bed as large as a small island and superb duvet. Excellent room service too.

Simplicity, imagination and quality of produce are key at The Royal. Head chef Francois du Toit (La Colombe, Manna Epicure) believes that food should be honest. If you say tomato it must taste like tomato, if you say fillet you should get the best our country has to offer. This philosophy together with the use of modern equipment (such as the use of Sous-Vide and Pacojet) results in creative but unpretentious dishes with "taste" as main ingredient.
