The Royal in Riebeek meets every expectation. Situated in the beautiful Riebeek valley, you have at breakfast the views over the mountains, but at night there is something special to it too. Crooner music welcomes you when you enter the building and the wonderful open bar and restaurant with the glass wine cellar. Drinks (try the special pink gin &... More

We are residents of the town of Riebeek Kasteel and somehow seldom considered The Royal Hotel for breakfast. On one beautiful November morning we decided to try them and we were more than pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the beautiful gardens with stunning views of the Kasteelberg. Well worth a visit - we will be back!

Having escaped the hotel we were staying at, we made for the Royal Hotel for dinner - what a wonderful place, if only we had stayed there. An old Victorian Hotel, it is beautifully maintained and dinner was an absolute pleasure. It was a cold and wet evening and we settled into the dining room off the bar, by the... More

We went to this restaurant on a Thursday evening and although it was dead quite we had a wonderful time. The food was great and quite surprisingly the portions substantial. The old hotel setting was kinda cool too .... service very polite but attention lacking slightly

We featured the Royal Hotel and its Restaurant on the Naked Life Travel and Lifestyle show Watch the show online to discover Riebeek Valley which is often referred as the best kept secret of the Western Cape. We show places to visit, things to do and stories to tell that we feature on our journey from Cape to Namibia. Go... More

Unfortunately we already booked our accommodation elsewhere but next time a stay at this beautiful and charming hotel is on the list. Lovely lunch and very friendly service. Not the level we experienced at La Colombe but we didn't spend almost R1000 pp either. We had starters, mains and desserts and wine. All very nice and for about R250 pp.... More

I visited this establishment during October. I was very impressed about their food and how they improved (was here before when not so great). Apparently a new chef and his clearly moving the place up! Menu is basic but to the best quality! Fruity and smokey starter of springbok carpaccio and orange dressing. Love the combination! Chicken (sous vide? have... More

Gem in a quaint little town. Great terrace area overlooking vineyards. Good food and local wines.

Description
Simplicity, imagination and quality of produce are key at The Royal. Head chef Francois du Toit (La Colombe, Manna Epicure) believes that food should be honest. If you say tomato it must taste like tomato, if you say fillet you should get the best our country has to offer. This philosophy together with the use of modern equipment (such as the use of Sous-Vide and Pacojet) results in creative but unpretentious dishes with "taste" as main ingredient.
