After a great Saturday morning out in the Midlands, decided to stop over at an old favorite, but hugely disappointing. The apathy of the staff, and particularly the host who didn't bother to engage once during our stay, was probably the worst i've experienced in...a long time. It was quite clear they had a big problem in the kitchen, coupled with stretched waitrons. My guess by the number of outside tables, is that there were just too many customers for the venue. It took just under an hour for 3 starters to arrive, and then a further length of time for mains. Not once did the host engage and apologize for the waits, despite passing our table multiple times. For the prices being charged, size of the table (8) and knowing there were issues, one would expect SOME attention.More

We decided to take a drive from JHB and felt like a good German food for lunch, my daughter had been here a few times and was was wanting the Goulash ! Unfortunately they ran out, but, whilst eating all the other good food, the...manager overheard her story and dealt Absa. So he very kindly went and made a special portion for her, once we all finished her surprise arrived ! Well done to you and your team! My little brat was pleased!!! Thank you ;)More

We had a lovely meal here. We were not to hungry so we ordered a dish with 3 different sausages, sourkrout and veg. The waitress was more than happy to bring us each a plate and no issues that we wanted to share. The service...and ambiance was excellent. The manager was so helpful and he told us so much history. What a great atmosphere and although we never had kids with us, there is loads of entertainment.More

Awesome food but shocking service. Can,t fault the food ,except they were out of stock of the eisbein requested. Just took ages to get served after we sat down.

We booked on Thursday for Saturday evening. We arrived at 6.30pm to fuind a huge party outside with blaring music, barely any lights, no eisbein due to loadshedding. Waiters ignored us upon arrival. Eventually seated us on a table, couldn't even read the menu it...was so dark. Left as we couldn't hear, see or eat anything decent. And we had driven 40 minutes to get there. NEVER again. So disappointing as we had a few lovely meals here last year. Where is management??? Why take a booking when there is a huge, loud private party???More

The service is very slow. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks (twice) and staff seem to have very little urgency. French fries were re-fried or they use old oil. No management presence until we complained, but the complaint was well handled. Viking burger was...good as was the home made pie.More

Over an hour wait for food, on a normal Monday (Not a public holiday or weekend) and after my food arrived almost 10-15min after the rest of the table, it proceeded to give me food poisoning later that evening. Warm craft beer was also a...bit of a downer. Lastly, not sure what they were thinking with a electric fence in the children's play area where a child was shocked during our visit. Overall, a very poor experience.More

We had a lovely meal and had a super evening. The craft beer and the Eisbein were the highlights of the meal.
