My wife & I went for dinner on a chilly Saturday night in the Midlands, & had a really great experience. Service was good. Staff were friendly. There was beer on tap. We shared a starter & a “main.” The squid legs (starter) were as...good as we have had anywhere & we eat out a lot. We had queen prawns as a main, & these were tasty & perfectly cooked. The chips were excellent & had some type of barbecue spice that we both enjoyed. The peri peri sauce was hot enough to be tasty but not unbearably hot. There is a fairly extensive menu with a lot of options. We shall definitely be back.More

We got there on a Sunday evening. Seems like the staff had enough and wanted to go home. Our waitress had no idea what the wine by the glass was. Starter, fried calamari legs was nice. The pizzas were just warm, one would expect them...to be hot when they come out of the oven. Not much tomato base, seems they ran out of it! My vegetarian was supposed to have artichoke and olives. Hardly found any. My husband’s one also lacked tomato base. Service is very average. And to top it off the chair my husband was sitting on broke! So an average visit. The place needs to be managed correctly and it will be great.More

Great venue, average food

We were really impressed with the decor and overall feel of this restaurant. After a weekend in the Midlands, we felt like having steak and not the recommended pizza at VdeV. We were however disappointed. The steaks were chewy and dry. It was cooked to...our preference though. Next time we'll stick to pizza. The wine was good, but the gin on tap was not available due to loadshedding.More

Le GuD-Food

M mm M! The dishes are so yum, compliments to the CHEF. He follows instructions. We were there one night, and the meat came out well-done when we asked medium (we were disappointed). We went back again to the restaurant and this time, the meat...was presented to us as we requested. They are not stingy with their PIZZA toppings. The sad part was the MUD PIE dessert was not available on both occasions. The bar had a Gin on Tap which was made from Rawdon's brewery, You must try it. Don't miss a chance to enjoy a meal from this place.More

Unfortunate experience

We were loving our time and really enjoying the atmosphere of the restaurant, until the manager was extremely rude to us when we asked why smoking was allowed under cover. So if you’re a non smoker and you’d like to enjoy the music on the...lovely chairs and couches you have to put up with the smoking.More

Cosy with good pizza

We sat by the fire (in Jan) as the rain bucketed down outside. There was a musician playing and the ambiance and service was good as were the pizzas.

so convenient

food is amazing and staff are so friendly and helpful. great for takeaways or if you want a nice night out in notties.

Bad experience

Dined there this weekend. There was a woman using loud vulgar language close to young children. A polite and conscientious gentleman intervened and asked her to stop. We then watched in disgust as the intoxicated restaurant owner chose to defend his rude and vulgar friends...and asked the polite gentleman to leave. The staff and manager (who were amazing) watched helplessly as the owner undermined and embarrassed them. It ruined our meal and experienceMore

Way tooooo much cheese on the pizza

It was pleasant but not tasty. The tomato base is disappearing under 6mm of Cheese. The balance is ..... no balance of taste or texture...so sad.

Waste of money

We had terrible experience on 20 March 2021. Being vegetarian, pizza is normally a safe option wherever we go. We ordered takeaways. It took over one and a half hours for 3 pizzas, 1 pasta, and 1 jalapeno poppers. I'm not sure what cheese they...using on their pizzas, but I'm sure it's not meant to turn brown when cooked. The chocolate milk shake we ordered was sour and was sent back - only to be replaced by another which wasn't good either. They only getting 1 star because of the fire pit outside.More
