Booking was easy and straightforward. Reception was warm and friendly. The venue is to die for, and the only thing better than the welcoming speech was the food. What a great afternoon. I will recommend this venue for any family gathering or group function. Oh...by the way- the price is not exorbitant at all. It is real value for moneyMore

This restaurant appears to be closed. No answer when calling and the road is not the greatest. Very disappointed about the trip out to dine there.

Had an excellent time in a great venue, great service & great hospitality ON-Top-Of, very enjoyable food and a hella saving being able to take ones own drinks(any). Comment on the buffet, although one may dish as much food from that serving as wished, i...never be fore, at a buffet, seen the food being removed at point of course, thus felt more like a prepared multi-course meal. Our friends invited us out for a drive to Parys to enjoy lunch at De Vette Mossel. A west coast seafood experience. And we all had a great time. The dishes were typically west coast style and the atmosphere was also great. It was not...all entirely seafood, there were also beef dishes in between. The best was the home baked bread and the koeksisters at the end with some lekker coffee. What is also super-cool is that you can take your own drinks in so that saves you quite a couple of bucks. So, if you feel like getting a crowd together and having some fun I would seriously recommend this restaurant. Just make sure you have a dedicated driver to drive you home.More

Planning a special dinner as treat for my parents 53 wedding anniversary in September, I visited "De Vette Mossel's" website in July. Their diary did not page to September, so I wrote an e-mail. Karin confirmed they would be open on 24 September, & reservations...had been made. A little more than a week prior to our planned visit to Parys, I again visited "De Vette Mossel's" website. Their diary for September now visible, it stated that they will be closed on the public Holliday. Extremely upset, I again wrote "De Vette Mossel" , enquiring about our reservation. Karin confirmed they actually will be open, & again confirmed our reservation, just changing from evening to afternoon session. No mention was made of any further communications that will follow the confirmatory e-mail. Traveling on Monday 23 September, I did not spend the day with my face stuck to my cellphone's screen. Checking for messages early morning Tuesday, I find a message from "De Vette Mossel" that I should reply before 15H00 the previous day, whether we still plan to visit. What the devil had all our previous e-mails been about?!! Only to receive a message @ about 08H00 that our reservation had been cancelled!!! That is the worst form of business!!!More

This establishment offers a eat as much as you like menu. The problem for me is that only the first course(mussels and delicious bread) has any flavour. The snoek that they serve also is tasty, but the rest of the menu was in my experience...bland and dull. Definitely not worth the price they are asking.More

Good morning. Remember this is a West Coast Style beach restuarant. Nothing fancy and definitely not a 5 star indoor restaurant. With us you need to get the West Coast experience! Sorry if this was not what you expected.... Regards. Karin

De Vette Mossel is based on an informal environment imitating a sandy beach, you can go barefoot as you would on the beach, the children love it. You take your own drinks in, this seems to be the popular choice, as everyone had their own...cooler box The meal is a Seafood Buffet, starting with a mussel pot, really nice and flavorsome, after that an announcement is made over the intercom system advising when the next course is available, you help yourself and eat as much as you like, There is plenty of food. You need to pace yourself if you want to have space for the last course. The food was good, no letdowns, This is an experience that you cannot miss, quite unique for this areaMore

"De Vette Mossel" has a unique concept: Bring your drinks (there is a stocked bar as well), sit down with your feet in the sand and enjoy delicious seafood - and there is plenty of it! You can either choose to go for lunch or...dinner. The menu consist of mussel, snoek (a typical West Coast fish), seafood pot, meat pot (for those who don't like fish.. ), catch of the day, calamari, fresh fruit and not to forget freshly baked farm bread with butter and jam. It is tempting but do not eat too much of it as you otherwise struggle to finish the rest! It's a very relaxed atmosphere, there is a kids play area including a small dam for them to swim.More

De Vette Mossel has a unique concept and follows a recipe that was born at the coast, West Coast if I am correct. It is based on an informal environment where you can thread barefoot on the sea sand in the restaurant which is basically...a boma. The hosts are very friendly and makes you feel at home right away. You may bring your own cooler box with drinks that is an added bonus. Kids will enjoy the "plaasdam" and they have ample space to play. For groups with children this is the ideal place to visit. When it comes to the food (Seafood Buffet), I have to be the party pooper. The mussel starter is a delight and so is the freshly baked "potbrood".The sweet potato is also worth mentioning. For the rest of it,it is average to say the least. The "fresh" linefish tastes like not so fresh hake. The closest you come to prawns is the shrimps in a mixed seafood dish. The Snoek, well is snoek, nothing special here. There is about 8 courses, with the "best" saved for last. Unfortunately the "best" is nothing to remember. If you want real seafood, i.e prawns or crayfish, there is quite a hefty extra to be spend on top of the already pricey R250 p/p. As I have said, the atmosphere is nice and the surroundings attempt to make you feel that you are at the coast. Unfortunately the food doesn't match up. I have been to a similar venue down at the West Coast and there was a marked difference in the quality and freshness of the seafood. But there will be people who takes a different view on the place and that I respect.More
